Marvel Cinematic Universe

I still dont get why Punisher is so hated in universe and out of universe which isnt just the meta of who likes him. Capeshit is literally JUST fascists in dumb outfits with mental problems killing vague groups of criminals, Frank Castle's only difference is making the subtext the text and not wearing a mask

It's like the Constantine movie. It was despised by the fans when it came out, considered a mockery to everything John stood for, entirely disowned and renamed as Keanusteen (but, must be admitted, everyone liked Swinton and Stromare in it). Keanu was also considered a shit actor for years. One day the opinion on him flipped into "he's chungus wholesome but still a bad actor" (it may have been caused by the picture of him puking out of a car, which supposedly happened because of a personal tragedy, and then the Sad Sitting Keanu meme), and then John Wick happened, and now everyone loves him and Keanusteen and they want a sequel.
I have to disagree. The Matrix has been carrying him ever since it came out. His tragic background also made people symphatize with him. All the memes and John Wick casting happened because of those.
People have been eating up everything he shat. The badass who tackles hell by himself stood out more than his other performances. Every casual around me who bothered to see the movie both online and irl at that time loved it. Of course it gained more attraction after he rose to the top again.

Most people who get pissed off about Punisher skulls IRL aren’t real Punisher fans.
People who use them irl are posers. Most of them don't even know Frank's real name. I would have preferred if they stayed away from it but it is too much of an icon.

Frank will gun down everyone in a grimy crack house. Super Strong Man beats up silly not-Nazis doing a silly salute.

Let's not pretend not to understand why one raises eyebrows more than others.

You may forget that between the Matrix movies and John Wick, he had pretty much nothing but floppy romcoms, floppy thrillers, and floppy action films. Only Constantine and maybe Scanner Darkly stood out. Throughout those years, though opinions on him as a person steadily improved, no one expected great things from his films.

It's especially jarring when the MCU forego entirely the not killing rule, so you don't even have the moral high ground of "I don't kill my enemies". So the only reason The Punisher is hated is because killing criminals that aren't some goofy organisation is a synonym to white wing execution squads, because the left literally considers criminality as a racial attribute.

Those John Wick movies basically superhero movies. I think I checked out in the second one when they starting shooting at eachother in the subway but hiding behind bullet proof fabric. Keanu is a bad actor and most of his film are all terrible. And that good ones are because of the script and cast. You could have put Edward Norton is the the Matrix and nothing would have changed.

It's all just so much tawdry spectacle. What a lot modern superhero films, and modern superhero comic books for that matter get wrong is that they're often about multiverses on top of multiverses being threatened by OTHER multiverses and other such unwieldy nonsense, deluging the audience with increasingly boring, flat VFX and over the top "spectacle" that's been blandified and often hits too similar beats. There's no balance, no verisimilitude, where the extraordinary drops into or meets the ordinary, which makes the extraordinary even more so. It's like Richard Donner said about making the '78 Superman film - if the audience could believe in the simple things—the coziness of the Kent family farm, the romantic sparks between Superman and Lois Lane, the comedic quirks between Lex Luthor and his henchman Otis, they would buy any extraordinary comic book aspects and spectacle the film presented.
It's why the first 2 Spiderman movies Masterpieces. They not just amazing superhero movies but amazing films in general. Plot of the first one is stop the green goblin from rampaging in the city. Second one is stop Doc Ock from building his machine. Simple plot movies. Its like MCU executives basically forgot they making films lol.

I think it is funny because he fought them all. I would go on and say he fought against right wing bad guys more than anything. Inbred rednecks, KKK, religious fanatics, you name it.
Frank couldn't care less about anyone's ideology. So it is jarring to see the left is getting such a huge hateboner for him. If carrying a gun is enough for them I don't know what to say.

I wouldn't be surprised if 99% of what he fought the last 20 years are purely white gangs, neo nazis, KKK and east europeans. But it doesn't matter because the moment right wingers used him as a meme it was over and the left saw him as unsalvageable.

This one is from the 3rd issue of the 2nd series. He was going after those guys since the very beginning.
But looks like that is not enough for the leftist writers nowadays. They saw a few edgelord kids use the skull and shat themselves.

I never heard people talk crap about the 2004 film until relatively recently
Nah, it was more back in the day people hated it. People began to see how awesome it was in the past decade or saw.

Yeah I agree as far as the thin blue line flag punisher skulls and shit like that but someone wearing a regular ass Punisher shirt might just be a comic book fan.
It’s an iconic symbol like the Batman logo.

Tourist spotted, that scene comes directly from Punisher: War Zone #1 from 1992.

Exactly. They try to say he hates cops but I have comic panel proof that he never did.
Bullshit you do. You looked it up after finding out it was in the comics you liar.

Do you think you've properly defended yourself here by proving that I was right?

If I liked that movie, I would have downplayed the gay popsicle shit, never mentioned it was comic accurate, and linked something like this:

This would help give the impression the movie was actually cool and not extremely lame.

I hope you rethink the way you defend gay shit you like, I'm pretty disappointed.

I'm slightly surprised Disney is still grouping MCU stuff into "phases", it slipped my mind until I looked up one of the newer things on Wikipedia and it mentioned which one it was part of.
No one gives a shitting fuck about the overarching plot after Endgame, why bother?

Feige and company ended everything that mattered with Endgame and left fuck all to continue onward.

FFS the first Men in Black movie ending with Agent K telling Agent J their work never stops as there always threats that have to be dealt with.

Every year they show off the new phase timeline and I look to see if Ghost Rider is there and when I see he’s not, I stop paying attention.

You want me in the theater Feige? Give me Johnny Blaze or Danny Ketch Ghost Rider and don’t fuck it up.
