Marvel Cinematic Universe

I’ve seen it around that Frank is supposed to be 6’1” but I’ve also seen 6’3” which would mean Ray Stevenson is the most accurate in that regard.
Thomas Jane is still my favorite live action Punisher.

Can't echo it enough, Ray Stevenson's version is more or less a very accurate look (minus the faded skull on his chest) of Frank Castle and in terms of origins (a decorated soldier with his wife, son and daughter gunned down in a park by a mafia group for accidentally witnessing a mafia execution). Too bad the film crashed and burned hard.

The Punisher film featuring Thomas Jane seems to be well-received when people talk about it.
Adding on to defending the 2004 Punisher. It's R rated and has some great scenes. The family wipeout is brutal too. You have people hiding under things terrified just to have some goon walk up and spray them with automatic fire. You got guys getting tossed out windows and the Russian fight. Travolta hams it up in a good way. It feels like a comic villain. Jane is great 2004 punisher is the best.

You and I both know they’d give us Robbie Reyes instead.

At least we’ll always have the Nic Cage Ghost Rider’s.
Ghost Rider 2 is probably my dark horse pick favorite Marvel movie. It's not actually my favorite, that's probably X2 or Spider-Man 1 or something but it's probably the ultimate guilty pleasure superhero movie for me. I love showing people that movie.

It's just insane as a movie. I fell asleep in my living room while a friend was over once getting fucked up and threw that on. The next morning, I passed through my living room to get to the kitchen for water and he was watching it again. I was like did you fall asleep too? and he said no, I thought drugs and alcohol made me hallucinate this movie. I woke up and could only remember Ghost Rider demoning out construction equipment, pissing fire, and he slammed the devil into the ground so fuckin' hard he made a wile e coyote style hole straight back to hell. I thought I had to have dreamed the whole thing. nope, you were right. This movie is fucking crazy.

It's not a good movie or even a good Ghost Rider movie but, goddamn is it fun. It's just a hilarious 2 hours of psychosis.

The Shield series already had him. :optimistic: and it is the first and the last time
Thank God Fiege apparently confirmed Agents of Shield is completely non canon to the main MCU.

Then again, because of multiverse bullshit that doesn't really matter I guess

The weirdest thing I have seen lately about 2004 film is people who say they don't like it because it doesn't follow the comics "at all", which is just absurd.

The look of the Punisher as well as his neighbors and the Russian are clearly taken from Punisher Max, the ice cream torture is lifted directly from the comics and the entire finale has one to one shots with the finale of Punisher: Year One and a lot of dialogue that is also verbatim to it. (the declaration of intent and the sic vis pacem para bellum sequences come directly from it)

I'd argue for the time, Punisher 2004 is actually more "accurate" to the comics than all of it's contemporaries (Blade, X-Men, Spider-Man, Daredevil at the very least).

IDK I'll always defend the 2004 film. People can cry about Florida, FBI Agent Castle and the Saints all they want. But honestly, Florida was a budget thing, FBI Agent Castle is whatever (he was still a war vet ffs) and I'd ask anyone that complains that they made up Howard Saint to tell me which crime family were the ones that shot up the Castles in the comics.

Última edición:
I feel like Punisher has been lucky on screen for the most part. The 89 movie if it had the skull is pretty good especially for the time besides having a little too much buddy cop shit in it, the 04 movie is solid and has some good shit in it (made ya kill your wife, made ya kill your best friend. Killed your sons. *explosion* both of em.) And War Zone was perfect exploitation style punisher although I wish Stevenson would have had a chance to be in some more straight forward less 70s grindhouse throwback stuff too. And Berthnal is fine, he's good in daredevil. The writing in his show (only saw season 1) sucked but he was fine. I haven't flat out hated any punisher we've gotten yet. none have been perfect, they've all been imo almost there but not quite but I've liked all of it well enough

I vaguely recall enjoying a cam of Ghost Rider 1, mostly laughing at more than with, but I did genuinely like they included the OG western cowboy Ghost Rider as well
used to be buddies with a guy who claimed to be the grandson of the guy who created Western Ghost Rider
never looked into it but I figured if you were going to lie about being related to a Ghost Rider creator you'd lie about the one people gave a fuck about

Florida was a budget thing,
Apparently it wasn't, it was a Travolta doesn't want to travel too far to shoot thing (I got recommended this after watching the short movie posted earlier and it's an interesting watch):

Since the talk about Daredevil and Punisher in the thread I started making a concerted effort to watch them since I've only seen bits and pieces before. Decided to google a watch order since I wasn't sure if there were any actual crossover episodes or anything with one being a spin-off of the other. A bunch of the suggestions claim you need to watch the Defenders because it's heavily focused on Daredevil's story, but of course to figure out who the fuck those faggots all are you're then supposed to watch all their individual shows. Goddammit Marvel this is why your shit keeps failing (well this and a lot of it just plain being bad), trying to catch up on your shows shouldn;t fell like a goddamn full time job.

A bunch of the suggestions claim you need to watch the Defenders because it's heavily focused on Daredevil's story,
"nerds think you need to catch this previous story" and "writers even heard that story existed" are usually miles apart
most of the time it's OH WOW IT'S PUNCHIO THE PUNCHING HERO "I'm here to punch things" and you probably don't need the ten hours of backstory for what he's going to do

That's the one thing I remember liking about the first one too. The second one is better entertainment, the first one is mostly entertaining in retrospect, because it's such a typical 2000s superhero movie. It might be the best example there is if someone asked you what was a generic comic book movie like in the 00s you'd show it to them. The second one feels like it was made by meth addicts. That's pretty cool, I agree he probably wasn't full of it because the 50s western version is a really funny thing to just make up a connection to.

@East_Clintwood don't bother with defenders, it's terrible. I've only seen it once so you might need the last two but if you're going to watch any of it just watch the last episode after DD season 2. All you'd need to know is that Elektra was brought back by some ninja magic shit and she and they are trying to do bad shit. the last 20 minutes of it sets up the status quo for S3 but you might literally just read a synopsis of it because nobody liked it at all.

So I saw the Electric State recently and it is a garbage movie with mostly soulless performances, a plot that has nothing to say about anything relating to technology beyond "put your phone down" despite the core relationship of the movie being between a girl and her brother piloting a robot from long distance, dumb worldbuilding, and the entire power source of the dystopian society being an autistic child's mind somehow being the harddrive behind a world spanning technology.

Now why am I bringing up this soulless expensive cashgrab, why it is directed by the Russo Brothers whose next movies are the Avengers movies who have also made several comments that show that these avengers movies are cooked

While some people like AI, I doubt I can trust these slop directors to use it well or for anything meaningful beyond cameos (since they wanted to bring cartoon characters into Doomsday/Secret War like Roger Rabbit)

Let's not forget that these people said something pretty troubling about their big desperate miscast of RDJ as Dr. Doom, or rather Evil Iron Man

That black criminal scenes in the newest episode of Born Again were unintentionally hilarious. Guy was like an example used for a 4chan shitpost about how dumb blacks are. Matt should've asked him the breakfast question.

The Frank scene was worrying. They're treating him like he's Travis Bickle, plus that purposeful shot of him taking pills. Luckily, the material of the old series is running out soon, so hopefully whatever bullshit the original writers had planned for Frank will have been aborted.

Liked the Frank bit in this week's DD episode.

Also sheeeeeeeit why the system keeping me down and shit? I dindu nothin.

I so wanted Matt to tell the nigger "maybe stop committing crimes"

I think it is funny because he fought them all. I would go on and say he fought against right wing bad guys more than anything. Inbred rednecks, KKK, religious fanatics, you name it.
Frank couldn't care less about anyone's ideology. So it is jarring to see the left is getting such a huge hateboner for him. If carrying a gun is enough for them I don't know what to say.

Frank uses guns and kills people, that right there is more than enough to make him distasteful to people on the left; Frank also represents a failure of the system and that's very taboo for lefties who are neck-deep in statism.

He's not heckin wholesome promoting trannies and advocating for America to import infinity niggers. He probably is in the comics at this point but that's just the state of the western comic book industry now.

I'd guess that they're still going to make Frank chastise the cops for using his skull and probably kill some too, there's no way they could handle it without it being typical preachy writing that comes off as super cringe.
