Marvel Cinematic Universe

Just saw the movie. America Chavez didn't say "HOLY MENSTRUATION" or give any Tumblr-tier feminist monologues + the movie had Sam Raimi directing it so the movie is automatically a 9/10. Wanda being a psycho bitch was downright hilarious at points. The concept of a hyper-powered demon Karen going around slaughtering millions without a giving a single fuck to get to her kids is funny as shit.

There were a few groan-worthy Joss Whedon-tier quips but it's tolerable by MCU standards. America Chavez didn't speak very often which is also welcomed.

I really really really wish Wanda had murdered Mordo though, he's such a pretentious faggot (intentionally, I know). Killing that alternate universe Captain Marvel sort of makes up for it, if only because every version of Captain Marvel now has to be a bitchy, self-important walking postergirl for "STRONG WOMYN WHO DON'T NEED NO MAN". The MCU writers/modern Marvel in general really really really wants to make people forget that the character used to look like this:
Ver archivo adjunto 3265478
and appealed to men because that's bad for some reason

When they said that no other version of America Chavez (really stupid name that they should've changed btw) existed in the multiverse or whatever I knew they were gonna keep her around as the Peter Parker to Dr Strange's Iron Man and as an excuse to do more multiverse movies using her mcguffin powers. I just hope in whatever future movie America appears in, it'll shit all over Gabby Rivera's bastardization like Carlos Gomez did with his version of the character.

The funniest part about America was how fast they glossed over her two moms. The one scene they spent talking about them went:
[12 seconds of America's two moms picking flowers, touching faces and then getting sucked into a portal]
America: "yeah I lost my moms in an accident with my powers"
Strange: "well you need to master your powers if you want to make your moms proud of their daughter."

They said "moms" twice so fucking fast you could barely hear the s at the end, and then immediately switched to "parents" because the suits probably felt they hit their activism quota for the movie. America wore a pride pin on her jacket that was visible for like a scene or two (in every other scene they conveniently moved the camera up far enough to where the collar pin wouldn't be visible). Disney really does not want to lose out on that foreign audience, LOL.
Thank you!!! I thought I was the only one who thought that it was funny. How quick that woke moment was "yeah I lost my mom(s) now let's just say my parents"

Disney "OK good, now we can edit that out for foreign audiences and we're good"

I want to see if Natalie Portman really got buff for the role. I probably don't need to watch the movie to see this. Out of all the announced films the only one I care about is Fantastic Four which is two years away. And they'll probably screw up the casting again.
Did you not see the spoiler from before?
I kinda wish there was an edit of the Doctor Strange without the cringe. Every modern Marvel film will be more tolerable if you remove the quips, the annoying sidekicks and the token diversity moments.
Someone on 4chan made a Saudi Cut.

To be fair, Reed Richards was never a threat to Scarlet Witch, and they kinda set Black Bolt up for failure by announcing his weakness before he was able to do anything. "Heh, my friend here will blow you away as soon as he opens his mouth. All his power is in his mouth. Watch him open his mouth and eradicate you with his mouth-based power!"

CM doesn't have any obvious weakness. That's just a slugest. And Peggy, well, I saw it more as swatting a fly. The hard part of swatting a fly is waiting for it to land long enough to hit.

I had hoped when they moved away from Whedon, the quips and such would dry up but that doesn't seem to be the case. The only movie where I could appreciate them was Thor: Ragnarok.

I mean you are right there to be fair [
Reed really can't be a threat to Scarlet Witch so even without woke reasons he would have died quickly realistically. Even Black Bolt power would clearly be his downfall when moving his mouth and your right about Reed pretty much fucked him when he announced that to Wanda"

Now Captain Carter is ment to be Captain America alternatively. And Steve was able to fight Thanos with Thor and Iron man for like a minute. I mean let's be real he probably was going to die if it wasn't for the un snap heroes appearing just at that moment. Captain Marvel I'm not sure what her weakness is. In all fairness Professor X is the last to be killed so there's that. Does it come off woke yeah kind of won't lie. But at least it works in some logical way in my opinion.

That’s the problem with Captain Marvel. She doesn’t really have any weakness as far as I know. Ffs, Superman has a weakness at least. I’m kind of convinced Captain Marvel is nothing more then a self insert feminist power fantasy.

You don't really need to be "convinced" when every...well lets call them "authors", even though they don't really deserve even that dog shit title, who has ever worked on her in the current year has proudly said she is a self insert feminist power fantasy.

Watching people complain about how Strange was dumb in this movie forget that he was also being uncharacteristically dumb in No Way Home too. I'm no defender of this movie, but fans are too eager to paper over the flaws of movies they like.

If I remember correctly from the comics, her weakness actually is magic. Which is why in said comics she approaches Dr. Strange to teach her magic, to nullify the weakness as is it were.

People say this, but she catches fairly routine ass kicking's in both the books and in Endgame. She has no "kryptonite" but very few of Marvels characters have that one bonafide "weakness". She' flew through a spaceship (disabling the "ace in the hole" he had), yeah, but it's not like she was one v one-ing anyone that was giving Wanda or Steve any more difficulty.

She gets plot armor as thick as any of the rest of them, but it wasn't like she showed up at the end of Endgame with the same authority as Thor did at Infinity War.

Very true, then again, anyone who gets walloped with an infinity stone is bound to end up knocked out for a bit. But when it comes to raw power, the fact that Wanda had Thanos pretty much defeated to the point he had to rain fire down on the battlefield to get out of it. If you look at Iron Man, he had no chance against Thanos but with his Mk. L suit he at least put up a good fight in the entire movie, then in Endgame he felt extremely weak with the Mk. 85 suit. Don't know why they did that. I guess like you said, the plot armour is only as thick as it needs to be, something you can apply to pretty much every comic-book movie. Maybe we are overthinking it?

You know I'm actually curious whose going to be the next marvel hero to turn evil?
The one straight white male that comes to mind is Thor but it seems he's going to get the Luke Skywalker treatment rather than turning him evil. Really the one that should be turned evil is Carol. She has no weaknesses and does not progress. As Kurosawa said, best, villains have arrived at what they’re going to be, but heroes evolve, they’re open to change and growth.

Obviously, he must be a straight White male. It can't possibly be the witch who YAS QUEEN SLAY all the sorcerers.
Honselty I find it funny how so far the 2 MCU heroes who turned to villainy are women (Scarlet Witch and Sharon Carter) I mean there is Ikaris but we didn't know him until Enternals.

So I would find it funny that two heroines went bad. So I would love it if a third heroine turns evil

Sorry to double post. But I agree with this comment. It's clear Thor story is just him probably retiring. And Hawkeye clearly had his own darkness journey inbetween Infinity War and Endgame.

I would definitely love to see Carol turn evil. Would it be funny if that was the twist of Marvels and it can be even view as woke for the wokies "a Space Karen goes crazy and it's up for two super minorities to save the day and stop her".

I mean not much would need to be change for her to be a villain. Her personality already comes off as a bitch villainess.
