The Harry storyline from Raimi-Man is a lot like the retarded RACHEL!!!!! storyline from the Baleman movies. It sounds retarded on paper and is even more retarded in action, yet a studio spent millions of dollars bringing it to life.
Yeah, but at least Harry wasn't wearing hockey pads...

It always cracked me up that Harry either didn't realize that his dad was the Green Goblin until the end of 2 (despite Peter dropping off Norman's body in full armor) or simply didn't care about the fact that his dad was a mass murderer. He's either hilariously stupid or a psychopath.

He dropped him off naked, I thought.

Which was weird even as a kid.

He was naked in a sheet like some kinda goblin-jesus so naturally it'd be weird and confusing to Harry.

What's fucking wild is we find out that ghosts are a fucking thing and Norman osborne showed up as a fucking ghost in the mirror he used to talk to himself in solely to push harry to break the mirror revealing the hidden goblin lair and we literally never see him again after that. You'd think like as harry was going to help spiderman Norman's ghost would show up and be like "HARRY NO WHAT ARE YOU DOING AVENGE ME HARRY AVENGE ME!" And then everyone goes "what the fuck a ghost goblin?!" or something funny like that.

No, you see, that was Harry's subconcious trying to get him to come to terms with the fact that Norman was the Goblin. It wasn't a ghost he just knew the whole time and was lying to himself and everything was totally thought out! </youtuber theorist>

(even with how stupid the Harry stuff was I still love those movies tho)

I always interpreted it as "The Goblin" being like some kind of hereditary illness in the bloodline, even if it's made abundantly clear in the first movie that "military gas" made Norman goblin regardless of him being kind of a cocksucker to begin with.

Late as fuck but I just watched eternals and this film is a huge letdown. I was told by a shitty clickbait article that Eternals is a shitty divisive film because it is heavily inspired by Zack Snyder's DC films, I thought "cool, I'm one of the few people who like Zack's DC films" and I didn't see the resemblance aside from the more grey coloring of the film. I was also promised that the main girl would get dicked three times in the movie yet there is only one sex scene with her. There was also supposedly a gay sex scene that made people on set cry yet there is no gay sex scene unless the nigger kissing his husband counts as a sex scene

Nah, there was a sex scene (hetero) and a "kiss so beautiful everyone cried" that couldn't have been more obvious was filmed in such a way as to be easily plucked out for foreign release.

The DC/Snyder comparisons were inaccurate though. I saw that a lot and didn't understand how people were drawing that conclusion.

that explains things. As for the Snyder comparisons I guess it started from one journalist who has Snyder living rent free in his head and the rest just parroted his take, because aside from the darker color palette and Superman and Batman being mentioned in the film I fail to see how this film was "havily inspired by Zack's DC films"

So is Moon Knight meant to be gritty? Because that seems to be the general response to the trailer: gritty.
He's fairly edgy in the comics from what little I know of the guy. They seem to like pairing him with Spider-Man, good juxtaposition.

Yes.

He's meant to be really gritty. He's a schizophrenic former mercenary who may or may not have had a near death experience/ressurection in an Egyptian temple that led to him becoming a sort of head priest for Khonshu.

man's gritty as hell, to the point that you'd mistake him for being an edgelord anti-hero from the 90s, but he popped up in the late '70s (IIRC).

anyways never forget that a time travelling hawkeye invented all the moon knight weapons.

The trailer was promising, but I'm still expecting nothing.

Moon Knight is a cool, gritty character. I don't have much faith in Disney+ adapting this character in the manner that he should. Had this been released on Netflix after DareDevil, I probably would be more excited.

Also, queue in the cringe MCU fans who will pearl clutch at this show "depicting schizophrenia in an insensitive way," if this character gets adapted even remotely accurately. lol.

Moon Knight began as a Batman expy created by Doug Moench, a long-time Batman writer. He denies the Batman connection but it's pretty obvious to anyone with a functioning brain. The whole 'insane' thing only really began in the '00s, before that he was a fairly standard super hero, though somewhat more grim & gritty than Marvel's usual fare at the time.

Trailer looked okay, though I'm not really liking the mummy costume. I really wish we'd get a standard super hero show out of Disney+ one of the these days, something episodic. Everything so far has felt like a six hour movie, which is getting dull.

Thinking more about the film. I think I found what the one biggest annoyance for me about it. While I still think that the film fails on most accounts (boring fight scenes, unlikable main cast, terrible plot, terrible moral, overreliance on references and blatant Disney advertising. And I didn't even mention the tonal dissonance in my rant) the biggest problem is that it's infantile.
Yeah I know that Marvel films are made primarily for 30-40 year old manchildren, but at least the first Marvel films had some characters that were fuck ups or had character developement. Modern Disney barely does it, and the current Spiderman might be the most mary sue character in their arsenal, that everybody likes and gets shit for free for being so awesome. Besides that, none of the characters ever develop, all the villains are just misunderstood and in the end it's possible to help them easily by plot convenience.
The problem is that it's no longer Disney's IP but past installments that get infantalized, every villain was only evil because what gave him superpowers and once that solves he immediately turns good. So you took iconic characters that you see how they descend into madness (sometimes irregardless of the changes they went through) and basically retcon them into flat "he was only evil because X". And that's the slap in the face that really angers me - Not only taking works that more talented people made, but reducing them to make them fit the worldview of a 5 year old.

Also the "final boss" villain being a past character is just bad writing since there is no emotional weight if the guy knew that person for barely a day. Since Marvel already strong armed Sony for Venom rights why not make it so the villain is an evil Tom Holland with the Venom suit? It would make the final fight at least more poignant than a 20 year old looking dude beating up a 60 year old man.

Edit: Something I realized, ironically at the end of the film Peter doesn't have any responsibility. His aunt is dead, everyone who knew him forgot about him, he has no obligation to anyone.
Really late reply but Jesus Christ. I get not liking a movie but this is practically foaming at the mouth over something being so “infantile” and playing armchair critic.

Case in point you complain that the film dumbs down the villains and that angers because the works of “more talented” people…yet the “not evil just misunderstood” element was already in the previous movies.

I dislike how studios think they can just buy some popular property and no matter how much of a hack job they make of it that people will watch it just because of the name. I dislike even more that they are right. And I dislike most of all that I am going to be one of those people with Moon Knight.

Sadly, there is almost nothing they could do that would stop me from at least watching the first few episodes of Moon Knight. Alongside the Question (who he has some similarities to), he's probably my favourite hero. I mean, he's a violent schizophrenic with delusions that he is a divine agent on Earth. And despite that he is pretty gritty himself, he does lead to some very funny moments.

Anyone know what rating Moon Knight is going to be? If they don't lean HARD into the insanity and viciousness with this show, then we'll know they can't do it the way it should be. But I hold out some hope.

Not a big fan of the CGI mummy costume, either - like @Tor Lugosi - but keen to give it a go.

It's definitely not going to be as hardcore as everyone wants, but it's not like the D+ shows have shied away from violence either. John Walker comes to mind. Come to think of it, he dealt with mental illness too.
