I had this theory about Grummz and how obsessed he is with AI and Vibe Coding and it's mostly mid-life crisis and insecurity about his role at Blizzard.
Back when Vanilla and TBC launched he was the EULA guy. He was not an enginneer or designer but had enough tech know how to grasp, in 2004, how the bacon was made. So while he technically he was in the credits of the most successful MMO ever made, he never had a direct input into any of the elements that made the game great. He can tell very tall tales on X about his experience in the business but if you've ever been in a bar at 11 PM (one frequented by uni kids) there will always be that 30 year old trying to sound cooler than he is. When you're 18 you don't see it but when you're 25 you can call that guy a loser to his face.
That is Grummz when it comes to industry expertise, except even faker and gayer than the oldfag drinking alone (at least he might have banged a groopie at a concert once).
You just know that Mark knows he was never a real developer but at the same time, people like him always cope with an excuse "if only I knew how to C++ I would definitely have made it". Here comes AI, and Mark is glazing it to high heavens because it finally allows him to pretend it's 2004 again. Finally HE can make it, finally, HE can show those Blizzard faggots that if he had been in the developers chair, WoW would have been 100 times bigger!
But another traint of Mark's personality, like MovieBob's, is that he's a giant coward. He will not sit down and start working because once you start, that idea of a videogame in your head suddenly becomes real and suddenly AI is not magic any more and can't solve all your problems. Which is why he keeps on pushing for more, more and more vibecoding because he is the type of person that doesn't want to write, he just wants to say he has written a book. If someone, anywhere, can vibecode a passable product that's all he needs. Enshittification be damned.
Anyways, that's my 2 cents on Mark. It's just midlife crisis from one of the most annoying cunts you've ever known. That's why I like lolcows, because they are not exactly special. Everyone knows someone like them, except they have the worst traits magnified by 100. As the lat Common Filth used to say, "Eveyone has a purpose even if that purpose is to be an example of what not to be".
Finally, regarding Ubisoft getting demolished in the first quarter. I had a feeling that Shadows was a a flop and they bet the farm on it. They had to pull every trick in the book to delay the inevitable from Q3 2025 to Q1 2026, but it was enough time to start a refinancing plan for the company. Was it a hoodwink to the investors? But their financial department deserves a bonus for giving the company enough time for the Chinese to throw them a few pity bux. Let this be a lesson - if a company is bragging about any metric other than Profits, Sales or Leverage (in that order), take your money and run.
