I got in the makeup I ordered, and I'm really happy with almost everything! Pretty much the products I was on the fence about ended up being awesome, while other things I was more confident in didn't work.
Glossier:
Boy Brow - Impulse buy but ended up being the thing I didn't know I needed. It adds just the right amount of tackiness to make the ABH brow powder I use go on more naturally. I'm glad I tried this.
Futuredew - was on the fence, but I think I've decided it's a winner. It makes my skin look incredibly smooth and youthful, with an airbrushed look. However, I don't like it with the Glossier skin tint, and prefer it with my favorite BB cream (Missha cho bo yang)
Skin Tint - I thought I had good enough skin to use this, but apparently not. A lot of people use it with the concealer, but I don't want to use this AND concealer when bb cream does everything and is light coverage. It does feel lighter than bb cream, but not enough to be worth it
Bubble wrap - this is an eye/lip plumping cream, and I'm on the fence. Part of me feelings like I fell for a marketing gimmick, but part of me thinks it's nice and does make my under eye look better.
Balm dotcom - it's nice, didn't solve my dry lips issue though. But literally nothing else seems to either so it's not really a knock on the product

Colourpop:
Blush stix (Melon) - I love cream blush, and this is no exception. Blends really well. I wish they had more colors, I'd like a cool toned red cream blush.
Lite stix (Urth) - REALLY NICE. A lot of people complained that the Lite Stix have too much glitter. I get that, but I don't feel it's apparent unless you look really closely and it's more of a shimmer... it goes on really smoothly and gives a really slick look
I wish the reddit beauty community thread had taken off. People on reddit and instagram are trying to cancel Glossier for not being woke enough. Asfaik, all the Glossier retail locations are shutting down anyway. You can read about it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAd..._glossier_workers_are_organizing_against_the/
SkincareAddiction seems less interested in taking the bait, but r/Glossier is full of people "outraged" that working retail sucks

I bought myself a magnetic palette from Adept Cosmetics (figured I could just get Sydney Grace shadow singles instead of the Autumn's Reign palette) and it's coming tomorrow (just in time for my birthday). :)

Can anyone recommend clothing sites to me, or help me figure out where the fuck to find stuff?

I guess my style is akin to Boden, pretty casual (but I like floral stuff and patterns). But their prices are... retarded. Help, please?
I've never heard of Boden. Just checked the link, there's some cute stuff there. The clothes I just saw, remind me a little bit of Modcloth, Unique Vintage, Free People and Francessca's. The prices at those stores are usually ridiculously retarded as well. It's a shame that clothes in that particular style are so expensive. I've been able to find good clearance items at Francessca's and Free People.

Thanks! Boden is also one of my favorite brands but I hate the prices. Francesca’s is a little bit better now but I have found in the past that their quality is trash. Wouldn’t buy anything full price from them.

I love the design. It makes me happy they used 90s inspired designs instead of the low-effort atrocity that is Sailor Moon Crystal.

I hope it will take off too. SCA seems more sane on the surface but I think they are secretly just as neurotic and insane. They get mad and mock people in the SCAcirclejerk sub who describe their skin as pale, fair, porcelain etc. How dare white people EXIST??
is lush girly stuff? if yes, i gotta say i adore their sugar fairy line, too bad it appears only in the christmas period. do they have something similar during the year? (i know they had last year the boo! slime -y shower gel that is almost identical in the smell)

I'd definitely say Lush is girly stuff. Technically probably belongs in the skincare thread. I love Sugar Fairy too. I ask for it every xmas and am never disappointed.

I have one dress from Francesca's and I love it. It's a little nicer, so I can't wear it out because of Covid. I got a shirt from there that absolutely sucked.

I broke down and bought a shirt from Boden (only half off, though). But in the checkout page you can pick a title for your address (e.g. Lord, Miss, Mr., etc). I'm guessing because it's in the UK and up-market and not at all subject to abuse.

Regardless, I picked "Squadron Leader".

Does anyone know what the style of the strawberry dress is called? I like the cut but I'm not too fond of the pattern and there's no way in hell I'm going to spend nearly $500 USD on a dress. I'm thinking of buying a similar dress or a dupe off AliExpress and copying the cut but using a different fabric.

i would categorize that as a peasant dress. but its got a few design details that take it slightly away from that territory.

also AliExpress is arguably a bigger waste of money. try looking for a local seamstress/designer if you can. you'd pay more than aliexpress but way less than $500. plus there would be a custom fitting as part of the process so it would fit perfectly

(dress is super cute btw hope that all works out)

@tigergrinder some of these are close in price point but usually stuff is on sale/somewhat cheaper. also i'm assuming you're in north america so apologies if you're not

pull & bear (only available in EUR and they weirdly don't ship EVERYwhere but i'll be shocked if you couldn't find something here - even with the conversion it'll be cheaper)

mango

simons

bershka

free people (this is more expensive than boden but just giving you more options just in case)

american eagle definitely has stuff like that and probably the most affordable of the bunch

if you haven't already done so, check some local thrift stores. but i totally understand if that's not your thing.

Love Free People flannels and aesthetics (that kinda earthy nature child vibe.) Hate the price tag. Any suggestions for cheaper flannels and clothing along those lines?

Has anyone here tried SimplyNailogical's line of nail polish?
It's called Holo Taco, and I love the colors and the quality. The holographic polishes are gorgeous.

They're a little on the pricier side ($13/15), but I've been into the indy polishes for several years now.

got the one coat black because i wanted to see if i could pull off the guy who wears black nail polish + support that funny ass bitch
i don't think i pull it off but and i dont know shit about nail polish (no idea that it was pricey) but it was most definitely "one coat" black and dried pretty quick. every once in a while i break it out when im feelin fancy

They're worth the price point. I got a couple from the holiday collection and they do exactly what they say. Sparkles in one coat (if you want to put it on top of something) and 3 is usually enough for just FULL sparkle-sparkle.
They're also way more sparkly in sunshine than she can show on video, which is fun.
Be patient when removing it with remover, use a peel-off base, and/or don't pick it off, though. The glitter will damage the shit out of your nails if you do.

Thanks! I actually haven't tried that one and was curious.

I am going to start getting scent free fingernail polish. a few years ago I had (what turned out to be) whooping cough and I lost my sense of smell completely for 6 months. when it came back certain odors smelled REALLY REALLY bad to me, like I couldn't get them out of my nose. nail polish was one of them.

Initially I just gave up on nail polish (I only wear it on my toes) and forgot about it. when I first started looking for scent free it was only water based peel off that I could find which sounded dumb for toes. Now there's a bunch of 7 free, 10 free that claim to be scent free and long(er) lasting.

does anyone have experience with truly scent free nail polish? I will suck it up when it comes to the remover, unfortunately that also makes me pukey now too but I know that isn't a scent free possibility.
