Purse arrived yesterday. I like it well enough. It’s more of a gray color, which I like more than the pictured color. It’s very small. It would hold my phone, keys, a lip gloss, and maybe a very small wallet, but that is what I wanted.

I'm happy but still wish I got that highlighter uwu

Update: I'm a stupid bitch and bought the highlighter from Macy's. (img source temptalia)

Coming soon: the inevitable "it's too dark" conclusion. :3

My package from Besame was supposed to come on Friday but it’s going to be later than expected (and that’s why I ordered stuff early because I expected that to happen).

I am also thinking about getting into leggings (with pockets) instead of wearing jeans due to sizing being a bitch. Any good brands to try out (I look into getting a pair from PopFit)?

Who could have thought I’d discover such a wholesome and pleasant thread here on KiwiFarms—

Can anyone recommend a Beautuber who’s actually thorough in their tutorials? I find that many will go through their routine as it works for them but won’t mention alternative options for complexion/facial structure/whatever the fuck, and won’t really explain why they’re doing what they’re doing in the way that they’re doing it, which is what I need in order to learn.

That’s my main frustration any time I fuck around with fashion/makeup—it’s like you’re supposed to start from 100 and the only videos/websites available to teach from 0 are either meandering or poorly explained. Like, a bottle of toothpaste will tell you exactly how to use it but there are a billion types of makeup brushes and none of them say on the back what they’re specifically for???

Samantha Ravndahl is really good at these kinds of videos. There is also an Irish creator called TheMakeupChair that is a great teacher. And finally, Wayne Goss. He has a lot of good instructional videos.

I have talked about hair before in here, but I am pretty challenged with styling. I didn't start doing it until recently as a very grown woman. I bought a hot air brush, and it arrived today. First time using it, and my hair has never looked better, except for the occasional blowout from a stylist. I mean it looks just as good!

So if any of you have been contemplating buying a hot air curling brush or multi-brush, please do it. I bought a cheap one from Clairol, and I don't why I didn't do this sooner. I also recommend the Loreal blow dry priming spray, but wash your hands after you put it in your hair. It's slippery!

Ordered a couple of things from Flower Beauty recently. I've known about the brand for years, and I just haven't tried it until now.

I got the setting spray and the Jungle Lights eyeshadow palette. I really like the setting spray; it smells nice and it's moisturizing-- a great spray for "reviving" your makeup to prevent it from breaking down and looking crusty after wearing it for a long time. I wouldn't recommend this for oily skin, though. This seems to be a good setting spray for "maturing" skin, like mine (I'm approaching my mid-30s-- it happens! lol).

The Jungle Lights palette though? Oh my goodness, it's flipping amazing. Granted, it's not a palette that gives you a "complete" look, so you'll at least need a neutral palette to go with it ... But the shadows themselves are out-of-this-world amazing. The shadows are so metallic and pigmented that it's insane. The palette is $19, so that's a bit expensive for drug store makeup. However, the quality is stellar, and the pans in the palette are huge.

So yeah ... Good stuff. I'm happy with the purchase. Has anyone tried Flower Beauty's foundation and concealer? I'm so tempted to try them out at some point.

Oh man, that palette is gorgeous, @StarkRavingMad! I might have to try that brand!

Colourpop got the okay to start shipping out orders again. I hope they can restock the Sailor Moon stuff soon.

The palette is totally worth it! It's absolutely gorgeous (my favorite shades are the olive green and the pinkish lavendar, in particular) Shipping wasn't so bad either, all things considered with the virus and whatnot. It took just under 14 days between placing the order and having it delivered to my house.

I just tried to look for pictures of swatches, but I couldn't find any. I found out about this palette through KathleenLights though, who seems to be the only "big" beauty YouTuber who didn't overlook this gem. I saw her swatch the shadows a few months ago in this video, and knew that I had to get the palette at some point:

Good to know about ColourPop! Right before they had to put a pause on their shipping, I made an order for some of the items in the Mulan collection (which I did not cancel). Hopefully I'll get those soon-ish! And hopefully a restock of the Sailor Moon collection happens soon ... I still want those Luna blushes!

Any specific ideas you have? I like allsaints, Demobaza, Helmut Lang, Alexander wang and Rag and Bone, but those might lean too normie for your purpose (except Demobaza which literally looks like apocalyptic LARP wear). I do a kind of modern goth/edgy look and I like those. Dollskill has interesting alternative pieces, but kinda crappy materials. I kinda go piecemeal season by season. I like killstar too but it's definitely on the cheesier side.

Mostly kinda chic goth with a unique kinda coture feel. Something a fairly fashionable vampire would wear. (Don't ask...) I eventually did order this dress from EDM and I plan on going with expensive looking jewelry and doing my hair really intricately to give off a more expensive vibe.

And I have been so bored I've been trawling depop for bargains and picked up two pairs of tan Michael Kors heels for a tenner each. I have no place to wear them now with quarantine so this was perhaps a dumb purchase. But a tennee for only lightly used MK wedges is a steal.

I wanted to learn how to dress for my body shape and found that my stupid monkey brain can't figure out how to measure my own body shape.
So, I've seen some places I looked saying that you measure: bust/waist/hips, and others that you measure: shoulders/waist/hips. Is it either or? Just bust? Because I get different body shapes depending on whether I use bust or shoulders.

bust/waist/hips. in dance school we get measured for our dresses that way

Revlon "Abstract Orange" lipstick. You need it. Buy it. Better than red!

Duly noted. I love orange lipstick! Orange is a lot more "wearable" than people think. MAC's Vegas Volt is my *favorite* orange lipstick, and I used to love Revlon's now-discontinued Lip Butters-- there was an orange one that was awesome. I'll need to check this one out to see if it compares.

EDIT: Just saw some swatches. Gorgeous color, but it definitely looks like a more "Fall/Autumn" orange lipstick than a Summery one. Not a bad thing at all. I'm probably going to hold off on getting it until it gets closer to Fall now.

Revlon's Super Lustrous Lipsticks are underrated these days, I think. They've been around for forever, and they're still solid and affordable lipsticks. For the vintage style lovers out there: Revlon still has plenty of shades available that were popular in the 1950s, like "Fire & Ice," "Cherries in the Snow," and "Pink in the Afternoon."

Toast of New York was my signature lip color in college.

I’ve got some premium lippies (Guerlain etc.) and honestly, for normal wear, the drugstore brands look very nearly as good and you can indulge in a lot more colors.
