Just dyed my natural brown hair with purple dye and it turned orangey/peachy wtf. At least I have a hairdresser in my family willing to fix that shit haha. At least it's not the worst dye job in the world.

is Hair Metal a thing again?

Is anybody in line to pre-order the Selena MAC collection?

So I got the palette, 2 lipsticks and 2 lip glasses. I wanted the highlighter but I know i'd never wear it, looks way too gold and possibly too dark for me.

This is the first time I've seen a lot of people excited about a MAC collection in a loooooong time. I feel like it's 2010 again (in the best possible ways). I didn't get anything from this collection, simply because the eyeshadow palette does nothing for me (and I'm not the biggest fan of MAC's eyeshadows anyway), and the lip colors don't do much for me either. The highlighter is gorgeous though ... But it would never work with my skintone.

I haven't purchased anything new from MAC in years, either--mostly because I don't have a lot of stores accessible in my area, save for a crowded Nordstrom that's 40 minutes away. I used to love MAC's lipsticks and lipglasses back in the day. I currently have several MAC "empties" that I've been saving up for the Back2Mac program at some point. Perhaps when the Apocalypse is over, I can give myself a shopping day where I can do that.

Since I'm feeling nostalgic about MAC right now, I have to ask: What have been some of everyone's favorite MAC collections over the years?

The Liberty of London Collection from exactly 10 years ago, to me, is still one of their most beautiful collections ever. The color stories just screamed "Spring!" and the packaging was to die for. I actually found the scarf that was released with this collection about a year ago; I completely lucked out and found it while thrifting. It's the same design as the makeup's packaging, and it's gorgeous. And for years, the coral pink lipstick in this collection, "Ever Hip," was my Springtime and Summer lip color for years. Ah, memories!

I also have really fond memories of the Disney Venomous Villains collection from Fall 2010. It was the first Disney makeup collection I ever got excited about-- I literally remember pre-ordering the items I wanted in the actual store weeks before the actual release. And for the most part, I was really happy with my purchases. I got a lot of the Maleficent stuff; thought her collection was easily the best one.

And finally, my favorite Viva Glam collection was the one with Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper. The Cyndi Lauper lipstick and lipglass were everything. I bought multiple backups of them. The color of both the lipstick and the gloss was this really unique reddish-pinkish-coral color. To this day, I still haven't found a lip color quite like it. It was beautiful, and it's something I would 100% wear today.

I remember the Lady Gaga lipstick looking like Pepto Bismol on my lips, though. lol. The Gaga lipglass was more sheer and wearable though, so I just bought that one.

they're the best @AveraDiane . I know that they're not the 10 grand bags but they are basically indestructible and very well made. huge fan!

edit : personal sperg, my only complaint is MANY of the big bags by them don't close on top, they're open or have a single magnet closure. that sucks for people who don't go directly from car to wherever because snow, rain, people on the transit.

I always wanted to buy a Kate Spade bag (and I wish they had phone cases for the s9, nothing but ones for iPhones), so I'm glad that I bought it. I needed something for errands, especially since my state has a plastic bag ban which makes grocery shopping a nuisance. I just gotta ask, are their nylon bags good or just their leather bags?

Incoming whiny rant: Bruh, I've had enough of having long hair. It's only shoulder length but it's thick and coarse and unmanageable. Shit takes forever to wash, condition and dry let alone style. I was considering splurging a bit on a Japanese perm but fuck it, I never wear it down anyway. Tbh I don't understand how other people can wear it down, I hate how it feels. I gave myself a quarantine cut to take 2 inches off which turned out pretty nice and even. When salons are open again I'm going back to a pixie cut. Might be a first world problem but I am not looking forward to all the whining of "it was prettier befoooooreeee...". no, it was not unless you find a sweaty, frizzy bun to be pretty.

Here's my first world problem PL rant. As it happens where I live, all my beauty appointments were scheduled right before the business shutdown and they got canceled. I have shadow root balayage hair that is in desperate need of a color touch up and trim. My eyebrows are looking rough and I have fucked them up too many times trying to wax them myself. And I missed my appointment to get my dysport/restaylne/lip fillers touched up and I can tell it's wearing off with no end in sight to the shutdown. I treated myself to some new makeup but my allergies have been so severe I haven't been able to wear any at all. Like I said, entitled whiny bullshit but dammit I enjoy doing those things.

I'm having a hell of a time finding nice goth clothes that aren't fugly as hell or cringe as shit. I want to build a tiny goth wardrobe for uh...well, LARP reasons (plz no bully) but most websites have the ugliest shit. I want goth that feels modern or interesting ala Alexander McQueen skulls or Deus Ex but finding that seems really hard or I'm looking in the wrong place.

Buzz that shit! Now is the time what with quarantine and all.

I have a thing for long hair so I've always tried to grow mine as long as possible (which is not long at all), but I have nothing but respect for women who take the plunge and buzz.

You might want some vintage goth stuff from when goth was more...legit. Try scouring Poshmark or Etsy for vintage brands? I know you said you wanted modern but you could try to mix and match classic goth with more modern stuff.

Thanks for the idea. I'll give poshmark a look. I want some unique pieces that don't have goddamn ugly dark fairies or wolves on them but that seems incredibly difficult.

I'm starting to think I should just learn how to make my own clothes.

I also only have the leather bags, you can probably find a non leather used one on ebay for cheap enough to not feel bad if they are not as good quality. I got 2 (different colors) of spades enormous catalina bags for under 100 bag style

Any specific ideas you have? I like allsaints, Demobaza, Helmut Lang, Alexander wang and Rag and Bone, but those might lean too normie for your purpose (except Demobaza which literally looks like apocalyptic LARP wear). I do a kind of modern goth/edgy look and I like those. Dollskill has interesting alternative pieces, but kinda crappy materials. I kinda go piecemeal season by season. I like killstar too but it's definitely on the cheesier side.

Bein' a country girl I only wear dress/skirt when its hot, makeup only for parties and being a dumbass I always almost lose my jewelry. Tips to feel more "real girly"?
You got vagina? Congrats, you is "real girl"!

Snark aside, you could maybe try some light eye makeup. Even when I am just around the house I put on a nude or light shimmer eye shadow and brown mascara. Maybe a tinted lip balm like Burt's Bees?
You could also try doing things with your hair. Like, a bit fancier than just a ponytail if your hair is long enough. Pinterest and YouTube have a bajillion ideas and tutorials. My hair is obscenely uncooperative so I can't do a damn thing fun with it.
