Just dyed my natural brown hair with purple dye and it turned orangey/peachy wtf. At least I have a hairdresser in my family willing to fix that shit haha. At least it's not the worst dye job in the world.
i has questions. What shade of brown was your hair prior and was that virgin hair? What shade of purple did you use, and was it permanent, demi, or semi? Did you bleach it first?

Purple over brown should have been straightforward. I wonder if you got a bad product?

Bein' a country girl I only wear dress/skirt when its hot, makeup only for parties and being a dumbass I always almost lose my jewelry. Tips to feel more "real girly"?

If you want to be "more girly," then first thing I recommend is to start wearing light makeup on a regular basis. If I had to pick only two makeup items I couldn't do without, then they would most definitely be mascara and a light lip color. To be totally honest, you really don't need a lot of products to "doll yourself up," and you certainly don't need to spend hours at a time to doll up either.

How do you feel about perfume? If you like it, then I would recommend wearing that on a regular basis too if you want to give off a more "girly" vibe. It doesn't have to be a strong and bombastic fragrance or anything, either; something light totally works. A "signature fragrance" is a great way to fancy yourself up while being pretty low maintenance.

Yeah, purple turning into orange sounds more like a bad product than mistakes were made.

It was my mistake. I'm darkish brown and got a shade of purple that I thought would work when I saw the box, but after the fact the hairdresser member of my family said it was too light. Should've bleached it first rip. It's permanent so I'm gonna go to hairdresser family and get it fixed.

I feel like I should be ashamed of this, but I bought the Jaclyn Hill Vol 2 palette, and, well...

...I really like it. In my meager defense, I bought it from Ulta with a coupon.

I heard people reeeeeeing about that palette because allegedly Morphe went and changed the formula or something? Did you hear anything about that?

I feel like Colourpop is trying to get around the shutdown by shitting out Ulta-exclusive palettes. I bought 2 recently, blush crush and nude mood. They're not great. I mean they're cheap little things so who cares, but yeah. They dropped a new one called celestial that I kind of wish I got instead because it's a little more interesting looking. I'm just bored.

I noticed that as well. Clever move. These do look pretty nice, but I have noticed their Ulta exclusives tend to be more hit or miss quality wise, so I'm holding off.

Oh wow, the money I am saving on 'maintenance' during the lockdown is actually insane.

On an entirely related note, I bought some tiny wax strips. I'm terrified of removing my eyebrows completely, but literally have no idea when I'll ever see my threader again. Any tips?

And before anyone suggests: I fucking loathe tweezing. I just get too bored/annoyed. Give me the pain, rip it out in one (or two or three) aggressive moves!
I use wax strips from Walmart on my eyebrows. If they are the kind where you pull the two sides apart and then you have two wax strips, before separating I hold them up to my eyebrow and use something to get the basic shape so I’m not placing them over my actual eyebrows. Try not to place them where they can pull skin from your eyelids.

I use coconut oil to clean up the wax but if that causes you to break out, pick up some sweet almond carrier oil.

Edit: when you place them rub the back of the wax strip following the grain of the hair, then when you remove it remove it opposite the grain of the hair for best results. The back package usually says this but I have ignored it before and it doesn’t turn out as well.

This is a bit of a longshot but i don't suppose anyone knows a good dupe for the discontinued Mac paint pot in 'let's skate'? It was really good for just swiping on my eyelids when I couldn't be arsed to put loads of make up on and I can't seem to find anything that has a similar effect. It was a pale pink with a really subtle glitter.

I've tried similar products from l'oreal and maybelline but they don't have a shade like that (that I've seen, anyway). And I'm in the UK but if I have to do an order for colourpop then so be it.

Revlon made one called "cherry blossom". I used to have it, but mine expired. It is a pale petal pink with shimmer.

Oh awesome, I'll see if I can find it, thank you!

My MAC one expired but I didn't think to check whether they still did it before I binned it. I don't always stick to expiration dates but this had started separating from the pot so I didn't want to chance it.

I got my Kate Spade bag last Friday and it’s so good for errands. But I think about getting a slimmer phone case so I can fit it more easily in my bag.

I bought part of my mom’s gift for Mother’s Day early (because I can’t predict how shipping will be by then) from Besame Cosmetics (this lipstick set) along with the lipstick in Victory Red for myself.

I might purchase Estée Lauder’s Advanced night serum. It’s freaking expensive without discount. If SEPHORA has a good discount on this company.
I used to use the EL fruition back in the late 90s and 00s. I think it was one of the first exfoliating lotions for the company. Omg I don't know if they still make it (will check in a minute) but that was some awesome stuff. It may not be as effective now that I'm old, but for you ladies in your 20s and 30s might really like it.

I loved that stuff.

Wandering on over to this thread in hopes of getting hair care advice (I don't see a separate thread for this issue). Any suggestions for affordable products that work for my issue? Here we go: Genetically-tragic straight hair that used to be soft and fine, but is dried-out from eons of colouring, even though I have only done roots for many years now. Got a very short cut 7 years ago that did not encourage better growth. Doesn't hang limply, isn't coarse like straw, but can never wear it down because it is something in-between. I blow-dry gently because not doing so makes my hair slick-looking, too much makes it coarse. I sometimes have dry scalp, but the rest of the mess gets oily fast due to my touching it in order to put it in a chignon or topknot. I look at the Korean ladies in my neighbourhood with their effortlessly shiny, thick, straight hair and want to die.

My diet is very, very good and I do not smoke.

What can I do, apart from shaving my scalp and starting anew? That is not an option. I am open to a Quarantine DIY Chop, however. Any products or advice from those with similarly awful hair?
