I wish I could help, but I am also trash at contouring. (:_( The tip of my nose is super round and I can’t make it look like anything except like the same nose but with brown lines on it.

On a semi-related note, has anyone here ever tried anything from Scott Barnes? I’m really interested in his brushes and his neutral eyeshadow palette, but they’re quite expensive. All the YouTube reviews I’ve seen are positive, but I’m still hesitant to pull the trigger.

I think nose contouring should just go away altogether but who gives a shit what I think, right? I would leave it alone and play up other features. It's likely that others don't notice the asymmetry as much as you do. Bad contour looks way worse than different/sized or shaped nostrils. Again, my opinion may not be worth much on an anonymous forum, lol.

Any tips on contouring noses? Specifically nostrils. While my nose isn't huge, my nostrils are slightly asymmetrical. Every time I even attempt to contour I end up looking like Micheal Jackson.
if they're only slightly asymmetrical, then imo youre probably just going to end up drawing attention if you try and correct it with nostril contour. two actors i can think of offhand are rosario dawson and terri davis that have asymmetrical nostrils and nobody notices (besides spergs like me), even though their asymmetry isn't exactly slight, especially in rosario's case
Maybe this is just one sperg's opinion, but I don't think anyone is noticing your nostrils. I had no idea about Rosario Dawson's nostrils until Twinkie mentioned it. It's likely one of those things that you are very aware of but nobody else really notices or thinks much of.

Just an update, and I am sure everyone else already knows, but ColourPop eye shadow palettes are pretty fucking awesome. I have had mine for over a week, and I have worn the eyeshadow almost every day for at least 8 hours. I don't use primer, just some concealer on my eyelids, and the color stays vivid and in place beautifully. For reference, I got the Mar, "Yes Please!", and "Give it to me Straight! " palettes. I have used the last one the most.

Give it to me Straight is one of my favorites. Great for blue or green eyes.

I bet the orange and peach palettes look fantastic on blue eyes too. Oranges, coppers, and bronzes give a gorgeous contrast to blue eyes. I think I may have developed an addiction.
I have Double Entendre and California Dreamin. I wear them almost daily. I do use a NYX pigment primer to keep them in place, but they stay locked where they are all day long. I get better wear out of the $24 palettes than I ever did from the $50+ Urban Decay palettes.

That makes sense. It's super tough too due to the type of makeup I tend to wear. Back before I knew better, I would walk around with natural makeup with hard dark full glam contour and it looked awful. I'm glad I grew out of that phase. Thanks for the tips guys!
On another note do you guys have a favorite natural/toned down makeup look? I personally love anything from glossier. I also adore a lot of the Korean ulzzang makeup looks I've seen on youtube. I can't ever get it right though.

I love Glossier, but many companies are starting to make similar products, some at lower prices. The Korean company Peri Pera makes a serum foundation that is close to skin tint, and it has a little spf in it. They also have serum blushes that compare to cloud paint. I have not tried any of the dupes for cloud paint (my favorite blush ever), but I saw that Maybelline has a similar gel blush and a new line of minimalist makeup.

I love Missha (also Korean) BB creams and cushion foundations, but the color selection is small. That is a downside of Korean makeup. They usually make base makeup in only a few shades. If you have light to medium skin, you can use them, but anyone darker will be dissapointed.

So I watched "To Sir With Love" last night and that rekindled my obsession with 60s cut crease (at least four girls wear it in the movie).

But every tutorial I find literally involves taking eyeliner and drawing on that thick defined line. I know that A) I could never do it symmetrically, and B) I could never find the right part of my eye to do it on, and C) I would just look like a toddler that got into mommy's makeup and played along with mommy.

*weeps in hippie*

edit: I can't even accomplish a regular cut crease. I am so sad

Let me know if I'm late with this:

Ulta just announced they are closing all US stores on Thursday evening, at least through March 31. Sephora stores in the US will also be closing around the same time.

You can shop online still, and Ulta has free shipping for purchases $15 or more; Sephora appears to be waiving shipping fees altogether

e: all MAC stores are closed as well

So two weeks ago, I ordered one of the new Haus Laboratories lipsticks. It's called the "Le Monster Matte Lip Crayon." I got it in the shade "1950," because I'm a sucker for a classic red lipstick.

Anyway, the product is great. I initially got it because I was already a fan of their Lip Liners, and I'd say that this product is just as creamy and comfortable to wear. And while there is some transfer, there isn't much at all. This is as if a lip crayon and a liquid lipstick had a baby: Long wear, not drying. And when it does eventually fade, it fades very evenly. I hate how liquid lipstick fades on my lips; it makes me look crazy. I'm happy to find a long wearing red lipstick that doesn't do that.

out of curiosity, i bought a kylie lip stain. it's the best lip stain i have ever bought. it was velvet matte and dried perfectly, no stickiness and no smudge. i usually buy jeffree's lip stain and i noticed it sometimes is a little sticky and dries weird. unexpected buy from me but i guess it's super popular for a reason.

Good to know because my tube of cloud paint has lasted a long time. It is probably worth it to keep buying it instead of trying out all the others and getting disappointed.

I am glad they are closing because the thought of all those testers and shelf items that have been mauled by people like Chantal and ALR have kept me from buying makeup in stores for a while. With corona-chan circulating it makes even more sense.

Edited to combine double posts. My internet crashed while trying to fix it the first time, then I had to do adult stuff and forgot which thread I had double posted in. I was really sure it was a fatass thread, but nope I had just mentioned fatasses in the second post. I know you all don't give a fuck, but am telling you anyway.

For all you bougie ladies... Nordstrom and Nieman Marcus are both running 20-25% off sales on beauty/fragrance! I’m desperately trying to contain myself and not spend too much money. Thanks Coronavirus!

Edit: Scott Barnes has 20% off too with code flashsale20! If beautylish runs a promo that’s my entire wishlist.

Colourpop has a new Mulan collection out today. It's right up my alley but I have to conserve funds. What bad timing! I hope some of you gals can grab something!

Too much foil and gold for this basic bitch. It's pretty though! I wanted one of the blushes but like with sailor moon, I was too slow. The other blush is still in stock but I don't think I want it.

Was anyone else disappointed with Colourpop's mauve collection? Mauve is my absolute favorite eyeshadow and lip color, but I wasn't interested in anything they put out in that collection.

I'm sure the quality is great, as are most Colourpop releases. I guess I just wanted more of a dusty rosey-mauve like you see a lot of mauves advertised as than the true grey-lilac mauve.
