Alright y'all, give me recommendations for nail polish. I don't care too much about makeup (though I do love eyeliner... even though I'm shit at putting it on ), but I have a massive fucking addiction to nail polish. Every time I come across a nail polish isle/stand I want to just buy them all. My nails are totally fucked but I found out that if I paint them, even when they look like crap, it helps me not fuck with them so they can grow out all nice... and then the polish will look even nicer! Best plan.
For growth oil can help, I use jojoba and Sally Hansen cuticle oil then the bamboo strengthener when I don't feel like polish. Sinful colors isn't too bad it's cheap but its easy to find and some of the colours are nice, Revlon+Sally Hansen pretty good, Pretty Vulgar Nail Liquor is pretty nice though they are $20.

Update on my pink wedding guest dress: I did not end up wearing it, because it was pouring down rain relentlessly on the day of, and chiffon definitely isn't the best material to wear on a rainy day. Based on what a lot of guests wore at the wedding, though, the pink dress would have been totally fine. I have another wedding to go to at the end of the month, and I'll just wear the pink dress then. I ended up wearing a blue floral a-line dress that I was able to have altered at the waist just in time for the wedding.

Now here's where I ramble on too much about nail polish:

There's a ton of nail polish brands that are pretty great. If there's one beauty-related product that I hoard, it's definitely nail stuff ... So I've tried a LOT over the years.

One of my go-to brands is China Glaze (for sparkly polishes), and I've tried a lot of OPIs that I've loved (OPI creme polishes, specifically). These days, though, I'm trying my best to transfer to the "3 Free" or "5 Free" stuff, so I've been using more Essie polishes (which tend to be a hit or miss depending on the shade, much like OPI-- but I love Essie's base and top coats). I've also been collecting a lot of the Jamberry nail lacquers (which also fall under the "_ Free" category). Jamberry specializes in nail wraps, so a lot of people don't actually know that they make some fucking fantastic nail polishes. They aren't cheap, but they dry fast, and they wear like iron on my nails. (And I promise I'm not one of those annoying Jamberry consultants who pushes their shit 24/7; I'm just a customer who likes the shit). And over the past year or so, I've been trying out all kinds of different polishes from independent brands because they tend to be really unique.

For some reason, Sally Hansen doesn't do much for me. The "Salon" line of polishes they have (that are more expensive, especially for drug stores) are around the same price as OPI, but I personally find OPI to have an overall superior formula. And Revlon has a few great colors (Cherries in the Snow is one of the prettiest pink creme polishes you can find, period!), but most polishes I've bought from them have been duds.

As cheap as Sinful Colors is, though, I actually think it's a very decent brand! One of my favorite drugstore brands, actually! I've tried more good polishes than duds, and even when I find a dud, I'm not that mad because I didn't waste a lot of money. It's a great nail polish brand to start with, I think (especially when you're trying to discover your taste in what colors to wear on your nails).

My Kat Von D Shade and Light palette has served me well, but is busted as fuck and I've hit pan on all my favourite shadows. In light of her being an anti-vaxxer, I don't really wanna get another one to replace it when the time comes. Anyone got any recommendations for a matte (or mostly matte) palette that isn't all orange/warm shades?

That is the best plan. Nail oil and keeping them painted. The paint protects them. I use 100% jojoba for daily nail oil and this Ancient Greek Remedy Foot Balm on my nails/cuticles/hands when I do a full manicure. It's basically cold pressed olive oil with lavender and almond oil but it smells and feels luxe. Keep them filed with a file or emery board that doesn't rip your nails up. I have had to try a lot of different kinds of files to find the one that works the best on my nails (one particular type of dollar store cushioned emery boards; expensive glass files just shredded my nails, same with metal files).

One of my favorite brands of nail polish is actually Wet n Wild Salon Formula. It's a nice formulation and comes with a funky, wide brush. Especially nice for painting toenails.

Thanks guys! I'll see if I can find some nail oil!

Ooo really? I like my Sally Hansen nail polishes a lot. I got this Diamond Strength one called Brilliant Blush and it's really nice. Plush the Diamond Strength bottles are so pretty!

I hear you on the Kat Von D dilemma. A few months ago, I tried out her "Tattoo Liquid Eyeliner" for the first time and it changed my life because it's an idiot-proof eyeliner for someone like me, who usually has a really hard time doing winged liner. I have also been a huge fan of her eyeshadow palettes and her perfume line. In light of her current controversy, I can't repurchase her stuff in good conscience. It's a bummer that she's such an idiotic and shitty person, because her beauty products are overall fantastic.

I wish I could help you with the contour palette, but I'm one of those ridiculously pale people who doesn't contour due to a fear of the products looking like mud or dirt on me.

I just recently discovered the joys of thrift shopping. Some of the things you find are super ugly which I'd argue is part of the fun, but I got a great deal on jeans.

I also bought a camouflage button up shirt, it was a men's but the oversized style looked cool. The woman at the register made a comment about being glad someone finally bought it.
(Don't mind the pokadots, there's a shirt under it on the dressform)

Speaking of shirts, my mom is cool as shit and makes her own clothes. This is a shirt she made me recently.

I'm probably going to be no help but some blogs said that this is a good dupe https://global.ulta.com/ultra-eye-contour-light-shade-palette?productId=xlsImpprod15451085

Hey thanks for the recommendations about the KvD eye palette, I'll be replacing it when I get paid. It'll be my birthday present to myself.

Word of warning about Juvia's Place: the bright colours will stain your artificial hair brushes. (I'm not bougie enough for real hair makeup brushes so I don't know how they would react.) Using 2 kinds of makeup brush cleansers didn't take out the aqua blue tint of my favourite Real Techniques brush, unfortunately. It still works fine though!

Totally with you on the tattoo liner. Any recommendations for alternatives? It's only a matter of time before they're contaminated with polio. The biggest thing for me is how well it holds up to my disgusting crisco soaked eyelids. KvD's liner is the only one I've tried that doesn't rub off because of my oily ass skin.

I'm glad I found this thread, now I can share my spergouts over all of the clothes that I buy.

I saw this on a post:

I still ordered ankle length houndstooth trousers from H&M because they look fashionable. Those pants look good. No regrets.
Tumblr can guilt me all they want. I like how they look.

Have you tried setting your lids before liner? I had the same issue with liquid liner but managed to fix it with some powder.

I use the Stila “Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner” it’s been a staple of mine for years I love it.

Unfortunately though I’m not sure how it would do against oily skin since I usually set my eyes and face with powder before putting it on.

Excuse the jackass questions I'm about to ask, I didn't start wearing makeup until my early 20s and I've never used anything outside of eyeliner, mascara and lipstick.

When you say "set", exactly what product is that? I've seen setting spray, but I thought you put that on after your makeup.

I see you mentioned powder, is it called setting powder? I've never seen anything by that name but I don't look at the face makeup products.

Either way, I've seen Stila mentioned before, I'll give that one a try. Not having to use any extra products would be ideal but I definitely don't mind

There is setting spray you can use, but that’s after everything is done.

Using a powder is a good way to lock in your foundation or concealer, since those are usually wet and can be rubbed off easier than if you used a powder. I use NYX Studio Finishing Powder, I know there are a lot of powders that are much better but that one is cheap and suits my needs.

It’s fun to try new products and things!

I wear my hair kind of long, almost shoulder length, and i love ironing it to straighten it out, it's somewhat wavy. To keep it from cooking off i bought a protein spray from Aromi di Firenze, Argan Potion :) i've had nice results but i've been looking to buy a better product since my hair is kind of thin and weak and i feel this product is for hair with more volume, anyone has suggestions?

I decided to not spend too much on makeup and got the Wet N' Wild H20 proof liquid eyeliner.
This stuff:

Two for six bucks. I wasn't sure how it'd turn out but it's easy to apply and it actually looks good. I usually can't get the eyeliner to line right on my eyelid, but this one went on without a fuss.

Are you looking for stuff to repair your hair or make it stronger? I love using this for my hair:
https://www.mauimoisture.com/shop/s...RUPsWXkuYXtoWMm_hVWo1cnoxC55gSvIaAl2AEALw_wcB

It's for frizzy hair though. However, this company makes products for all sorts of hair, including for straightening. And tons of good scents.

Just go through the hair type. You may find something good. Their products make your hair smell real good and my hair always feels good for a long time after using their stuff.
