Anyone know where you can get a really light foundation? I'm super pale and I use the ivory tone in every foundation, but it looks orangey and I'm lighter than it. I think the makeup saleswoman said because I am cool-toned, I should use a red foundation, but I dont know. I have to mix it with a white foundation, but the shade still can never match. I need to buy new foundation soon, and I think I have a sephora giftcard somewhere.

I don't want to ask the saleswomen, because I know they have quotas to meet and there are certain products they try to push to sell.

Re brands: the lightest Nars colour in all their bases is the lightest one I have ever been able to find. The formulas are great. Try those. Make sure they are giving you the lightest colour of each.

ALSO this is a top tip for buying bases that I was given and told to pass along. Be Miss Pushy Customer and insist on a decent size tester or several smaller samples before you buy anything. You want 2 or 3 days' worth. A higher end base product is knocking on 50 quid and you can't drop that on a colour that doesn't suit. Use the samples to wear it out and about going about your usual routine for a couple days to be confident that the colour match is good in all lighting and also that it actually wears decently. The lighting at beauty counters is fucking terrible (often deliberately) so buy nothing until you have seen it in daylight and under other artificial lighting.

If the salesgirls won't part with samples, walk the fuck away. That either means they dgaf if you buy anything and therefore are basically disinterested in getting your repeat custom (we all go back to the counters where the girls give us good colour advice! everyone knows this!), or they know the product is shit. Either way, you don't want to drop money there.

Nars is a great, great place to start if you're really pale and need the lightest colors. Swatch the lightest one, and bring it around w you to compare with a couple other shades from Nars/other brands. Also for really light foundation the biggest thing is to keep an eye on your undertones and oxidization. If you've got a foundation with the wrong undertones that's why people end up looking really pink/really orange. Stay far, far away from the UD foundations (especially the all nighter) if you don't know your undertones, plus the oxidization. The coverage is great but I've had to correct a couple friends and even clients who bring the wrong tone w them and it's a mess. Nars can sometimes oxidize a bit as well so make sure you spend enough time in store to give it a sec to do its thing.

I'd also rec Tarte's Rainforest of the Sea, some NYX, Makeup Forever or even MAC for comparisons to the Nars shade you pick. (The oxidization is really bad so I don't usually rec it, but Too Faced Born This Way and KVD also have a good range of pale shades) Also, if your sales lady said you're cool toned @Len Kagamoney, then you should be using foundations that are advertised as "fair" or "medium" with pink undertones like she said. "Ivory," "porcelain" and sometimes something named "soft beige" are neutral undertoned foundations, but appear really light, which is possibly why you're still turning orange because they have some yellows in them.

What'd all of you buy/plan to buy in the VIB sale if you're partaking?
I didn't get much- A replacement NARS lipliner for the one that broke and is so old all the lettering on it has worn off. Had to guess what color it was and got Mirihi Island Beach.

NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Rikugien- it's my MLBB.

Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief in the big tub.

Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 50+ Wetforce For Face to take on vacation. Hopefully it ships on time!

A buttload of samples.

I actually decided not to partake. I am not deliberately on a no-buy, but the medication I'm on has really curbed my impulsive spending. The only thing I've bought from Sephora so far this year has been Play boxes.

That said, I had thought about getting the UD Basquiat vault, but it sold out pretty quickly, and when I wasn't that disappointed, I realized that I probably didn't really want it that much to begin with.

SSRIs do that to me, no sex drive, no joy in shopping anymore but it doesn't really bother me either way.

I'm on an SNRI after being on all manner of different SSRIs for years. I've been on the dose I'm at for about 5 months and it has been really helpful.

I don't think shopping was joyous, but more of a very temporary high that made me feel better when I felt like shit. So not feeling like shit all the time means I don't really need retail therapy to feel good.

A new Sally's opened, so I decided to get some Hair One. (A Wen knock-off) I'll have to try it the next day I'm off considering the instructions and the smell is a little iffy. (Not as bad as tea tree tho)

Didn't Wen seriously fuck up some women's hair? I saw a commercial and googled it a while ago and saw a bunch of negative feedback about it...

I'm pasty and whiter than the driven snow and mac NW10 works fairly well for me, with a light touch and a pale toned or translucent powder. I've had good results with Kat Von D too, but it's pricey. I've never found a decent drugstore foundation in my colour.

So I ordered a denim shirt and a camisole from Torrid on the phone last night to honor haute cash and my $10 reward for my Insider anniversary (I was entitled to one card, but I never got it when I got my order in the mail), and I managed to get the denim shirt for way cheaper than expected. I am not complaining at all.

I just bought the Unicorns Are Real eyeshadow palette by Makeup Revolution and gurl am I obsessed. You got your glittery af pastel colors. You have some glittery af bright color. Shit you even have some glittery neutralish colors. My only complaint is that I have to use like my one and only synthetic brush to pick up the colors and then use my other brushes to blend and shit.

Anyone have any decent store/online suggestions for reasonably priced, somewhat formal maternity dress? I had committed to buying nothing but second hand, fuck it I'm only wearing this shit for 3-4 months clothes, but of course I find out I have to go to a family wedding in June. I don't like "tight" maternity dresses that seem to be all the rage but I also don't want to look like a Mormon housewife in a tent. I'm rather small but just buying larger size clothes doesn't quite work the way I thought it would.

It's the one nice article of maternity clothing I will buy and I'm willing to spend $75-$180. I generally love shopping for vintage clothes, but vintage maternity is god awful and I just despise shopping for stuff that won't fit in six months, so I've pretty blah in searching. It all looks suspect and over priced so far.

I googled it and I was honestly surprised to see it was so cheap. And from the swatches I've seen it looks pretty pigmented. I might give it a try.

Do any of you know if those instagram beauty shit skin masks work? I' ve wanted to try some of them since quiet some time but I' m afraid they won' t be worth their money. Also, what are your personal favourite skin products? I' m currently using none but occasional moisturiser but my period breakouts are kinda meh, sobI might even invest some time in skin care.

Sheet masks like the paper ones you wear that look like Jason Voorhees face? They work temporarily, as in you'll be hydrated and plump the next day, but they're not necessarily going to make a permanent difference unless it's part of a bigger routine. They're fun though and I use them maybe once or twice a week.

I love the Asian beauty philosophy so my skincare routine is pretty intense, but it's fixed a lot of my skin problems and I actually get compliments on it now, which never happened before. Anyway it depends on your skin type but I love acids (AHA/BHA) for exfoliation and snail products for healing.

Congratulations!

Have you looked at second hand maternity stores? You can find nice things that have only been worn once or twice. Not vintage, just second-hand. You can find the Two Peas in a Pod brand and whatever else is trendy these days.

I found that Target had decent things, considering like you, I didn't want to spend money. The stuff would last through a pregnancy.

Larger clothes don't tend to fit right on a pregnant body, you'll do better with actual maternity clothes, especially later in the pregnancy. Good luck, I hope you find something, and again, congrats.

Thanks. Yes, Target or TJMaxx might be where I end up going either just for a lose empire-waist long dress or proper maternity.

I've tried second hand locally but the selection is blah, it seems like my area it's either clothing for big women or XSM teenmoms who want to wear things really tight. I haven't had much luck finding any good second hand maternity in S-M sizes. I thought I might find some online sites that have sections for second hand maternity but have yet to locate much. (I thought there would be a ton, because hey it's short term clothing, but it seems women hang on it in case its needed again or give it to friends/family.)

On the plus side I've always liked empire waist dresses, but never bought them because even when you're skinny it can make you look pregnant - so now I can wear it without worrying about that for the time being.

I'm 5m pregnant and i usually wear xs/s (pre pregnancy) but as I've been getting bigger I've been wearing a lot of sz M dresses (especially if the fabric is like super stretchy cotton) but I've also bought some super cute dresses maternity dresses, as well as pants from Ross and Burlington coat factory.
And ofc, ebay. I refuse to pay 25 bucks for an ugly maternity top at motherhood maternity, lol.
