Definitely! I do my own extractions now. I had some really isolated deep nasties this year in places I never get them (right by my ear close to the jawbone, a fingertip length away from my nose) and getting the crud out was so satisfying and much easier for me to do myself. Combined with a magnified mirror nothing escapes me now. Wouldn't say I fucking love doing it but it's no longer this instrument of torture.

A few years ago I had some milia and I honestly had so much fun removing them. Hours with a needle and an extracting tool (which is NOT the recommended way to remove them, don't do it, you could scar yourself, I'm just an idiot), and I wound up with several tiny bruises to cover up, but it felt so good to get them out! And don't get me started on pore strips, that's just about my favorite part of the week.

Neon polish always needs a white undercoat :-/ But anything white will do as long as the neon covers decently, in my experience.

I need a facial like Phil needs money. I used to go twice a month but now I have little humans hanging off me 24/7 and I can't get anyone to look after them so I can go. I gotta wrangle myself to the salon tout suite, the state of my eyebrows is terrifying. The girl who does facials there doesn't do extractions though :-/

I also need a visit to the colorist. Many grey hairs visible :-/

Any suggestions for dry, peeling scalp? It's dermatitis rather than dandruff so the antifungal shampoos don't do anything except make it redder and sorer. I use pretty gentle shampoo/conditioner stuff so as not to antagonise it, but I am interested in maybe a balm/lotion I could use if anyone has any suggestions?

Have you tried straight coconut oil? I personally haven't used it on my scalp because mine is quite oily, but any skin issues i've had have been pretty swiftly gotten rid of with some coconut oil.

I have. Idk if the stuff I was using was inferior quality, but although it worked for a few days it didn't keeping working with further applications, if that makes sense? Made my hair nice though! Should I get fancier coconut oil and give that a try?

you could certainly try some organic stuff, although i personally can't say that it's any better than the regular kind. perhaps try leaving it on longer? if i have the time i can leave it on overnight and then wash my hair in the morning. still, even if it doesn't help your scalp it's excellent for the health of your hair. getting a friend to help massage the oil into your scalp might also help.

Jojoba oil worked a treat for clearing up scalp crud on me and my brother - it might be worth a try? The only thing is, I find its smell becomes highly objectionable as soon it begins to go stale, and usually end up pitching half the bottle.

I combed, straightened and brushed my (incredibly curly) hair to see how it'd look. It went from shoulder-length to midwaist, and after falling asleep it was back to being shoulder-length (and curly).
However, it was smooth and actually somewhat shiny and not incredibly knotted, which is something I have never experienced until now.
Even having washed it this morning it's already going back to an incomprehensible eldritch mass of curls despite most of today being spent indoors.
Is this normal? I'm not really good with hair (much less my own) so I have no idea.

Jojoba oil is what I would recommend, @Fareal. When I got done torturing my entire head over the course of a few hours lifting my color from dark brown to platinum I treated myself with it. I warmed it up in a mug of hot water as the one I bought came in a little tube and was enough to do my head. I put my hair up in a cap and wrapped a towel around the whole thing to keep it warm and I feel like that really helped me out. If possible could you wash your hair less? I've had a couple friends with scalp dermatitis who figured out that was one of the keys in tending to the problem.

But yeah, slightly off oils/straight up rancid ones are barf-inducing. I wish I could recall the name of the Jojoba oil brand I bought because it was the perfect size.

@Broken Pussy I've never seen the Total Coverage one before! I've been using the Pro-Matte and been super happy. I wore it running amok through all-day Disneyland in some stormy fucking weather and it still looked great when I got back to my room at midnight. This and the Milani Conceal + Perfect have been my new foundations. I love the MUFE Mat Velvet + but it's a lot of money for a foundation when these look as nice.

I grabbed the Milani one in "creamy vanilla" yesterday since my skin has been lighter this winter. My old Clinique stay matte shade was "vanilla" and on the dark side for me. Really, nothing about my skintone is close to "creamy vanilla" but I'll take it!

It's new. I bought it a couple of weeks ago. I got it at Walgreens in the section where they have displays of new makeup that aren't on the regular shelf yet, but I think I saw it at CVS afterwards, as well, and I know they have it online at Ulta, but not sure about in-store.

does anyone have any cleaning recommendations for someone with oily skin and large pores? acne is hardly a problem, so at least there's that. also, are facial scrubs by brands like burt's bees acceptable? i've seen it in my grocery store and it looks tempting, but my finger isn't on the pulse of the beauty market by any means, so if it's a no-no, i wouldn't know.

I've got eczema and my scalp has started to flake really badly, so I switched to a scalp care shampoo. It's not a perfect system, since I have to use a mask in lieu of conditioner (I have thick, coarse, very over-processed hair), but it's helped a lot. Currently I'm using the Malibu Scalp Wellness shampoo but I'm gonna switch back to the Surface Awaken shampoo, which contains loads of peppermint oil.

If you can, use something with peppermint, rosemary, or tea tree. It's astringent and anti-inflammatory. Just make sure you aren't allergic. Also, if you take really hot showers, don't. That'll make the dryness even worse.

Have you tried a cleansing conditioner/co-wash? Alternating that with your regular shampoo and conditioner might help, too.

Get yourself a cleansing oil. I actually like the Burt's Bees one (I got a travel size at Target just to try it out) and it's a decent dollar-per-ounce value. I've never tried the scrubs, though. I don't scrub since I use a couple of different products with glycolic acid in them.

Oil cleansing is great because since oil attracts oil, it gets all the grease off your face without stripping your skin too much. And I know it's tempting to use the heavy-duty stuff but personally I've had much better results using gentle products that don't make my face feel "squeaky-clean".

Have you tried stuff with charcoal? It seems to really clean my face of oil, but I do have small pores so I'm not sure about big. My partner says it works for his giant pores but it's also the only stuff I know he uses.
I personally use the lush dark angels cleanser but I used to use this bar. It's good and like 200% cheaper/not a huge blackface mess/at Walmart

Last night I went to Sephora and got a sample of the Tarte BB tinted primer, because I need a primer and this one offers a little coverage and SPF. I was a little worried when I put it on this morning cos it had a very... slippery feel? I'm not sure how to describe it, it's light but had a weird texture that made it seem like it'd make me greasy. But my makeup stayed on all day, save for a couple spots on my nose where my glasses rubbed it off! I'm really impressed and I'll definitely be picking up a tube on my next paycheck.

Have you tried a Micellar water? Beautylish sells a nice one from France, called Bioderma. They have one for oily skin. I love the stuff, use it to take my makeup off nightly. You can use it as a remover or a cleanser and not even need to rinse. I think Beautylish is have a special right now.

Didn't know this thread existed!

Garnier micellar water works great and you can get multipacks on Amazon for not very much at all.

Depending on your budget, I really like Arcona skincare products. They're a little spendy but they're the only thing I've found that helped with my cystic acne.

L'Oréal has micellar water too, as does Simple. They make micellar wipes that I make sure to always have on hand, as they work pretty well and are handy when you're in a hurry or you need to wipe off something.

I signed up for a trial at curology. (Customized, prescription strength acne medication sent every three months.) I really appreciate the time they take in prescribing the medication, and having my own personal dermatologist who I can email with questions is great.

Also, if anybody wants or needs new underthings, undies.com is having a ridiiiiiculous sale. I got like seven bras and twelve pairs of underwear for like $70.

Thanks for the heads up! I might totally need to check into that. I don't have terrible acne, but I feel like the bit that I do get is ridiculous at this point in my life, and my pores are way too large. They've started selling Differin over the counter, so I'm trying that right now.
