I trimmed my own hair today. I had coconut oil on it as a mask and picked up the scissors. It turned out well but it's long and all one length so it wasn't exactly a difficult cut.

My old ear piercings (from at least 5 years ago now) are getting infected and sore for no fucking reason. I've been cleaning and sanitising both my earlobes and earrings for a month now and it still won't go away. Fuck.
My piercings of over 3 years are always getting pissy at me for no reason at all so I feel you.

Best thing I find for it is putting titanium labret studs in them and just keeping them in until they calm down. I normally use my healing studs which have a slightly longer post than standard because that gives the piercing some space to breathe and incorporates for any swelling. The flat backs are a lot more comfortable to sleep in as well when they're stinging ahaha

I'll switch back to my studs then, cause these steel hoops don't seem to allow for any breathing room. Any suggestions for keeping them clean? I've been using a first aid spray to clean off my ears/earrings and then I drop the earrings in boiling water before I next put them in.

Yeah hoops can be pretty weird with piercings, whenever mine flare up I find it's best to just act as if they're new piercings and keep things minimal for a few weeks. To clean them I use a saline solution maybe twice a day at most, so dissolve some salt in boiling water, and a cotton pad. Normal antiseptics and antibacterials can be too harsh for piercings and just cause more swelling and irritation. Try to avoid taking the jewelry out if you can, unless it's really weeping and gross just kind of clean around the studs, but boiling water should sterilise them enough.

I'll second the suggestion to clean your ears with saline. It's been the most effective treatment I've ever found. First aid sprays are fine if you've got an actual infection but they can make things worse if you don't.

And be careful with hoops, I used to wear bead capture rings in my cartilage and one was so tight I literally had to borrow my stepdad's wire cutters and cut it off my ear. I've since taken the piercing out but aside from my plugs, it's titanium threadless labrets. They're comfortable and much less allergenic than the shitty jewelry I used to wear.

I got a Sephora gift card for my birthday yesterday and I am debating on buying the Kat Von D foundation (honestly I was trying to get that Sephora exclusive beautyblender combo, but the discount doesn't show for some reason). Would anyone on here recommend it?

I like it, it stays better than most liquid foundations do on my greasy face. It's really thick and pigmented, though, so if you're worried about it being too much, you could always mix a little primer or light sunscreen with it to cut it down.

Okay I officially give up on liquid foundation forever. I managed to find one last year that, while not perfect, was at least good enough; it didn't smudge too badly and it matched my neon-white skin. But the last several weeks, my makeup has been basically disappearing within eight hours of me putting it on. I used a sample I got of the new Urban Decay All-Nighter foundation and my skin literally looked disgusting at the end of the day.

I think on my next day off (so I can go in bare-faced) I'll have to go get shade-matched at Sephora for a good pressed powder and find a nice, intense oil-controlling primer. I don't know what else to do, I changed my skincare routine, I set everything properly when I do my makeup in the morning, and my face still ends up looking gross.

If your skin is oily, I'd moisturize with something intense like argan oil. Do you use a setting powder after you've applied your makeup? It helps a ton and can be reapplied throughout the day.

I have this problem a lot, too, but I've found that prep sprays and setting sprays (I really like the Urban Decay sprays) help a lot, especially the UD De-Slick spray. A translucent powder is also helpful!

I use a light gel moisturizer because if I use anything heavier, I get so oily my makeup disappears within just a few hours. It's hard to find a balance with my skincare routine because my skin is sensitive and "normal to oily" but if anything is even the slightest bit wrong, I start dumping oil.

I use a setting powder, too, but it's not enough. I think I'll have to go back to Urban Decay's De-Slick powder because nothing else has worked that well.

I tried the De-Slick spray, and it made me feel... weirdly sticky? Maybe I had the bottle too close to my face or something.

My other problem is finding a shade that matches. It's not enough for it to be super-pale, there's something about my body chemistry that turns everything darker and brings out whatever the base pigment is. I can't tell you how many times I've tried a foundation that seemed like it would work and it made me look like a sun-deprived Oompa Loompa, or like I had jaundice or a mild sunburn.

I had that problem with De-Slick at first, too. I started holding the bottle further from my face and that helped a lot.

Re: shade: dear god, I know that feel. In my case, it's what comes along with the territory of being pale, but having warm/yellow-toned skin. Not fun.

Dude I am like *this close* to just buying a white foundation and blending it with whatever I end up finding. No joke. I was looking at it on Manic Panic's website while shopping for eyeliner and I'm very seriously considering buying it.

My skintone is truly neutral (no pink or yellow tones to be found here) and everything that remotely seems like it would be a good match is too pink or too yellow.

I've never owned or been able to wear foundation in my life because I've never found a shade that came even close to my skin tone. I'm too pale for normal shades and not pale enough for light shades, and not warm/cool/neutral enough for warm/cool/neutral shades. Guess I'll just have to mix different shades of everything together for the rest of my life lol

My hair is this color, and I love it. It's green, blue or teal depending on the light. I bleached it to get the full effect, but I've been letting my roots grown out. The dye makes my natural hair color black, and it looks really cool. I think this is going to be my color for a while.

Ladies, I have a question. I have oily skin, and I need a good face wash. I used witch hazel in the morning and night, and it keeps my pores pretty tight and it makes my skin feel soft. I use Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Facial Cleanser in the shower every day, but I'm not happy with it. It feels heavy on my skin, and I still get the occasional zit.

I've used "Enchanted Forest" on and off for YEARS, I love it so much. It feels like it should be my natural color.

You could try a gel cleanser more geared to sensitive skin. I've got oily skin, but I found out when I had my first skin consultation that the reason I was getting so much acne was because my skin was sensitive and I was stripping too much moisture out with my acne cleanser.

@fire_fly Have you tried mouse foundations? I can't recommend much in the way of shade as I've not yet found one that matches me (so many pale ppl on this forum) and I need a yellow pigment or I look washed out, but I've found mouse foundation give me the best stay and coverage, and I have really bad skin and freckles.

@Rabbit Bones If it's available your side if the pond you could try Simple. They make some pretty good facial washes that worked for me back in high school, and they aren't too heavy.
