I've come to a couple of conclusions today.

1. I'm probably just going to give up on eyeshadow altogether. I'm finding more and more shades that I can't wear and it's incredibly depressing, as I've had to purge a lot of my collection. More room for pretty eyeliners and fun lip colors, I guess..?

2. As fast as my hair is growing right now (thanks to the Viviscal Professional hair growth tablets I've been taking) I really need to keep it light. I've been rocking a deep green for a few weeks and it looks like my hair is falling out every time my roots show up. Which is about a week after every touch-up. So, I'm lifting again. Pray for my hair, y'all...

I finally organized all my makeup and perfume and it feels so good

I started doing that a couple weeks ago and it feels amazing. I'm making myself not carry a loaded makeup bag any more because I only use a couple products a day and it's lightened the load a lot for me. I've chucked more than a couple questionable things as well.

I practiced nail art with tape and I think I finally got optimal drying times and learning how to lift the tape off just the right way without fucking everything up. I feel so accomplished because the last time I tried it I ended up peeling not just the fresh section but the paint on the nail along with it.

I'm headed somewhere sunny next week and I'm fucking shit at putting sunscreen on my face. I love the aerosol sunscreen but I'm not gonna blast myself in the face with it and trying to spray it in my hand and quickly slap it on my face is tough. Stick-type sunscreens regardless of brand tend to irritate my skin even if they're formulated for faces and/or babies. I got the Salma Hayek Nuance sheer veil and it's supposed to work as a primer too. It has a more watery consistency but it was so, so much easier to apply on my face than sunscreen. It does indeed work as a primer as well.

Lime Crime controversy aside, HOLY FUCKING SHIT THE VELVETINES. I cashed in a fucking one-fifth-full jar of change (like, costco-sized tub of bear-graham-crackers) and had a nice $20something Amazon certificate to blow. Something like 1444 pennies and some other coins. I ended up getting the color Pumpkin and it's such a gorgeous rusty orange-red. I cannot fucking BELIEVE how nice the formula is. The staying power is no joke. I can drink and eat most things with it. Didn't survive pizza but that was to be expected. I still love my NYX liquid suedes and soft mattes and lip lingerie, but wow, this one is a nice treat. I also like the Sephora Cream Lip Stain but I wanted to try a new brand.

On a day where contract negotiations fell through after a month and I lost my position before even starting, opening up the mail and getting my Velvetine was stupidly exciting and made me feel better. (:_(

Lipstick has been really drying my lips out lately and I've been having mostly shit luck with moisturising textures. Do you guys have any recommendations for tinted lip balms? I'm too pale to go without something, and the Burt's Bees tinted lip balms I tried were underwhelming.

I tried that sheer veil, I liked it but it didn't stand up to my greasy face, at least not in the warmer months. It does fine in the winter if I pack on mattifying powder, though.

Fucking Lime Crime, dude. I'm very anti-that company (ex-customer, btw, I didn't just read a blog and form an opinion based on that) but I find myself trying to justify getting a couple of their lipsticks via Urban Outfitters or something because the new Perlees-Asphalt, Gemma, Roswell, and Beetle, specifically- were calling my name. I wish Doe Deere wasn't such a shitbag, then I wouldn't feel guilty lusting over the products...

Anyone have any good suggestions for some lip stains?

Are you looking for something with a lot of pigment (like a liquid lipstick) or something that could work as a buildable tint? Do you have a preference for color, hate certain consistencies, or loathe flavors?

My first ever lip stain was the Benefit Benetint. I think my mom got it for me when I was 10 and I've liked it ever since. It is watery but buildable. Benetint had a slightly rosy taste and also worked as a nice cheek stain. Looks terrible if your lips aren't exfoliated but I think that goes for everything. It also comes in a couple other shades. For something heavier and more pigmented I liked the Sephora Cream Lip Stain for its longetivity and feel. It is more drying because it's long-lasting but I put on some balm a few minutes before I apply and then wipe off/blot any left. I got my first Kat Von D Everlasting liquid lipstick last night and I'll have to give that a try today. My mom is a fan of the YSL Tint in Oil but I found the applicator kind of weird and couldn't get used to it. I didn't like the consistency either.

I can't say I've had much luck with drugstore stains, partially because I stopped trying with them a while ago.

@fire_fly I feel you on that. After seeing other controversies with other new brands (Jeffree Starr, etc) I want none of that. But god damn the formula is so good :'( and I totally justified it by buying from Amazon even though that doesn't really mean too much.

As for colors similar to the Perlees, I don't think there's any exact dupes but the NYX Wicked Lippie collection has some great metallic shades. Gemma looks close to Power. If it's something that won't irritate your skin they might be worth a look. I have Wrath, Power, and Trickery.

I have some of those, actually! Wrath, Risque (my favorite green lipstick), Scandalous, Stone Cold, Power, and Envy. I thought about Power but it's way more pink than Gemma is. Maybe if I used a brown lipliner or something, I could use Power and Stone cold to dupe Gemma and Asphalt, now that I think of it... I hear the Perlees formula sucks anyway, and they're not nearly as metallic in real life. I also have Iron Rose by House of Beauty but, same thing, it's way more pink.

This is probably my sign that I should just learn to make my own lippies, honestly, because there are so many colors that I want and I can't wear because they only come in matte formulas. Mattes tear my lips up, I can't keep torturing myself by trying to wear them. I'm thinking a super-pigmented balm-gloss like the kind that Darling Girl Cosmetics makes, so it'll be nicer to my skin but will wear like a lipstick if I put a lipliner on first.

Have you tried a sugar scrub on your lips before applying mattes? Makes them look less like shriveled nut sacks after application.

Yeah, it doesn't help me that much. I've always had very dry lips, and it got 1000% worse after I had an allergic reaction to some toothpaste. Now if my lips get even slightly dry I get, like, scaly patches. It sucks.

Okay so some of you may already know that I'm a tranny dude. I'm a woman who wants to be a man. Thing is, I've been doing an internship over the past 2 months and I'm not "out", per say, so I have to at least dress like a woman.

I also bite my nails, so to make them look nice I had acrylic nails put over them. For those of you who have had acrylic nails before, they're a pain in the ass to get off and when they are taken off without soaking them in acetone, you basically have like 1-2 layers of nail left and it's sore and incredibly sensitive.

My question is once I finish my internship should I grow out the acrylics and let them come off themselves, or just have a professional remove them? I also don't want to keep my nails super short (like nail biter short). Would a nail strengthening serum work?

OPI do fantastic nail strengtheners, called Nail Envy. Look into one of them. And maybe take some Skin Hair and Nails tablets? If they don't interfere with your medication that is. Between nail envy and Perfectil tablets, my nails are a lot stronger

I'd let them come off themselves. I actually stopped biting my nails after my acrylics came off, and they were a lot stronger afterwards.
And yeah, you can always a try a strengthening serum! Nail Envy is good, like bloodcoffee said. I personally use millionails by essie, which is also pretty good.

On the subject of nails, I started doing my own (really simple) stuff again. I really like experimenting with tape and basic shapes and lines. I just did a sage green on my toes with a gold inverted triangle on my big toes with nothing but scotch tape. It took a couple tries to get the right lift time on one of them but I did much better than the last time when I took the whole layer of design plus the nail polish beneath with it.

I've been looking at really cool nail art and all that neat shit that Simply Nailogical does and it makes me want to grow my nails again. I have strong and flexible nails that almost never break but I keep them short due to dermatillomania. It has improved a lot since I was younger and thankfully was mostly confined to any bumps on my skin instead of the entire layer itself so I don't look like a meth junkie. Every now and then I catch myself but I am able to stop at least. The sensation of long nails is a little weird for me but I'm telling myself that if I really dislike it, I can always cut them.

I have a question!
The fiance likes it when I wear dark lipstick, but alas all of my lipstick is cheap as fuck and comes off within twenty minutes of application. That's not counting kissing, eating, or...other things. So far the only lipstick I have been able to find that actually works is some Revlon thing where you put on a lip color with a wand and then swipe a clear chapstick-like substance over it to seal it in. The problem with that is, if I put it on and make a mistake or decide it is too much, it takes a million years of scrubbing to get off. Like it is indestructible.
Any good recommendations for sturdy lipstick in dark colors? Especially for black lipstick - since he is very into that color.

Using some baby oil on tissue should take it off without a problem.

When I have to wear makeup--including lipstick--I wear a brand called Bite. It's sturdy and it doesn't come off too easily.

Those duo-phase makeup removers work wonderfully for removing those, honestly. The one I'm thinking of is the Garnier one where you shake it to mix up the blue and white. Some people swear by the Velvetines by Lime Crime for long lasting application.
