You might want to consider other types of oil. Argan oil (I've not heard of this with any other oil) builds up in your hair and can make it brittle. Personally I won't use argan unless it's blended with something else because I noticed that my hair didn't feel great after using it for a while, and once I tried something else, my hair looked and felt much better. Marula, babassu, apricot, and coconut oil are really great for dry, damaged hair because they aren't just loading protein into your cuticle.
I haven't encountered any problems in about a year or so, but the biggest problem I have with my hair is that if I over-wash it actually becomes greasy. Keratin products really don't agree with my hair though, while I know some people who swear by them, so it might just come down to hair type.

I wore gloves and used a cap. The problem came when I washed it off in the shower instead of in the sink, and it ran down my body *sigh* Poor planning on my part. I'll try the moisturizer though, thanks.
Whoops... When my hair was longer and I dyed it I had to stand in the shower at weird angles to wash the dye out without getting it on my skin, but they weren't comfortable and I wouldn't recommend them to anybody.

It did take a while for me to start having problems, like a couple of years. This was a while back too, before I knew that using the same stuff for several years wasn't a great idea... Nowadays I tend to change my regimen frequently. Your hair gets used to products the same way your body gets used to medications.

If you have problems with your hair being oily, try volumizing products, specifically color-safe ones. They'll protect your color without weighing your hair down as much.

Okay. One more stupid hair dye question.

What's the best way to get this shit off my skin? My neck, back and hands are slightly stained. I used Vaseline on my hairline and ears like I was told to, and they're fine. But washing it out just turned the rest of me pale blue.
Late, but if you want to get it off naturally, you could use either cold cream or witch hazel. If you don't mind chemicals, they sell dye stain remover at Sally Beauty and other beauty supply stores.

I had that same problem a few years back and had to change shampoo, so I'll keep an eye out for any problems with the argen oil and try a few other things in the meantime so I can find something to to switch between. Is there anything specifically you'd recommend for helping hair retain moisture? Weighing my hair down isn't much of a concern as my hair actually has a little too much volume, but colour will be when I can be bothered to start dying it again. I do appreciate all the advise, as I'm actually pretty useless with anything besides dye.

Dish soap is how I got black dye out of my skin, should work for you.

I do pretty much nothing but recommend products all day, so you can ask me as many questions as you'd like! I'm not sure what you'll have access to, though. I know a lot about US-based products, not so much other countries...

I'm telling you, seriously, coconut oil is the best thing ever if you have thick, color-treated hair. I just slather the stuff all over my body, since it helps with my eczema too. And you only need a little bit cos a tiny chunk will melt and emulsify into several pumps' worth of another oil.

Kendi oil is also fantastic for hair. Alterna makes a kendi oil (as well as a kendi oil dry mist) and it's by far my favorite hair product. It's amazeballs.

I liked that stuff okay. The dry mist worked well as a shine spray for me, but I hated the smell of it.

I'm using something else currently but my all-time favorite is the Surface Bassu oil:

It looks thin and watery in the bottle, but this oil works on any, and I mean ANY, hair type. It's a bestseller for us, with good reason. It feels great on your skin, too, it's slightly cooling.

Okay, friends. I have a dilema. I'm at work and I just broke a nail petty badly after moving 400 bricks by hand. Shit's hard enough on my hands as is, but now my thumb is missing nail even on the nail bed. It's ugly, it hurts, it feels vulnerable, and I don't know what to do for it.

Forgive my dirty hands, I work an outdoor job. *sigh*

First of all, ouch. There's a reason I keep my nails really short and it's because I'm terrified of stuff like this happening to me.

What I would do in your situation is, buff down the rough bits but otherwise leave it alone. It hurts, I know, but it'll grow back. And you could put a Band-Aid over it to protect the nail bed until your nail grows a little, I've had to do that a few times.

Keep the tip of your finger bandaged up with waterproof BandAids and treat it with Neosporin while you wait for it to heal. Make sure to keep the area clean, if you can, since nail beds are really germ-sensitive.

If that doesn't work, toothpaste and/or baking soda. Even the best-laid dye plans end up going a little haywire sometimes. In my 13+ years of doing my hair that's a combo I've found to work without tearing your skin off. I've done it on my white fake marble countertops too since that shit is cheap and loves to suck in stains and it does a good job of removing it. Plus you'll smell minty fresh too. This also works great for those little stragglers on the neck and forehead you get while you're processing the color.

I've always refused to put petroleum jelly on my body before dying (as a lot of kits and dyes recommend) because it is a pain in the fucking ass to get off.

EDIT: had a sentence in the wrong spot that made it almost seem like a good idea to rub petroleum jelly on your hairline

I did that exactly once and never did it again. What a pain.

I'm not sure if somewhere like Sally's would have them, but there are barrier sticks that look like tubes of lip balm that you can rub on your hairline. Personally I just prefer stain remover, though.

Does anyone know of any brick and mortar stores that stock IT cosmetics products? I got a sample of their anti-aging concealer, it's amazing. I went to buy it from their site but was annoyed at the inflated shipping price for something that weighs less than an ounce.

Spoke too soon, they have a locator. If anyone is looking for a new concealer, I highly recommend this.

It hasn't even been 2 months but I'm already seriously considering canceling my ipsy subscription because their shipping is so shit. Last month it almost got sent to the wrong address and now this month the shipping/delivery dates keep getting pushed back every time I check the site and USPS doesn't even have any info on it other than "pre-shipment info sent"... whatever than means. Anyone know of any subscription boxes that don't suck at shipping?

I cancelled my Ipsy bag after the toxic lipgloss debacle (was either last February or the one before, can't remember which, but it was bad). I highly recommend Birchbox.

Yeah, I've heard lots of good things about Birchbox! I decided I might as well give it a try and subscribed (and canceled ipsy because I only have so much money and don't really need/want two very similar boxes anyway) and I'm super excited to get my first box

Birchbox was consistently pretty sweet and I was sad to have to cancel my subscription. As someone who is really stingy, some of the samples that didn't suit me 100% became little gifts for other people when their birthdays or Christmas rolled around.
