She dresses up in alternative stuff alot

Honestly any outfit would do because she's just so damn beautiful in my eyes, but I really love cute stuff.
This post is adorable and wholesome. :)

So it sounds to me that your gf is more on the "trendy" side of fashion? Alternative stuff is pretty trendy right now. My go-to suggestion would probably be a black dress of some kind for a nice outfit-- black can easily be styled to look both cute and alternative.

I kinda ruined the surprise by asking her what her style is while she faced off on some monopoly, and now she's kinda cuddled up against me watching me type this.

But she's really into alternative rock, I agree on the black dresses, she has a few and when I see her in them, i go ape, she's adorable

MSD posted in one of the lolita threads earlier hoping they could somehow get their GF into lolita stuff. So honestly gothic lolita stuff might work? Note that gothic lolita refers to Victorian era inspired clothing in this context, not goth stuff.

Any advice for someone who has never got into makeup unless it was super necessary for like a wedding or something, but wants to get into the world of makeup anyway and doesn't know where to start?

Also as a bonus, I want to show off this super cute Eevee hair bow that my boyfriend got me for my birthday, he knows I'm a sucker for Eevee, so now I'm just waiting to get the perfect clothes to match the Eevee get up.

Unfortunately she says lolita is too frilly for her. Shame too because she would look amazing in it.

It's not gothic lolita but you could look at black dresses on Unique Vintage or Modcloth? Kind of a cute rockabilly style.
And I think I'll look on those two sites, thanks!

Really good idea. Rockabilly/pinup has become a trendy thing among alternative rocker ladies over the past few years, specifically. It's not quite gothic lolita, but it is definitely a more cutesy style of clothes.

I also recommend Pinup Girl Clothing and Vixen by Micheline Pitt. I'd say that they are on the pricier side in comparison to Unique Vintage and ModCloth, though ... But they're worth checking out even if you're only looking for inspiration. They are mostly vintage reproduction, but they definitely also have some more rockabilly-inspired patterns and dresses. Vixen by Micheline Pitt specifically has some pieces of clothes that I can best describe as "vintage style ... But make it goth."

I don't wear makeup but I wanted to acknowledge how adorable that bow it. I love subtle stuff like this.

What's your makeup style?

General advice would be :
Buy good basics. You don't have to buy the most expensive out there, but something decent will be worth while.
Establish a good skincare routine - you'll use less basics that way.
Learn how to use it properly and you'll enjoy wearing it a lot more.

Haven't decided what suits me the best yet but I would prefer something more natural that won't stand out that much.
I recommend the book Making Faces, by Kevyn Aucoin; it's a classic for a reason, and easy to get cheaply used. It goes into unspoken basics of theory and practice, with enough plain how-to to make it worth it for that alone.

It's hard coming to makeup as an adult and missing those teenage years of stupid mistakes and growing skills, but the tradeoff is having a fully-developed brain to learn with, and a better budget.

That's exactly what I've been trying to avoid haha. If you mess up as a teenager no one bats an eye but if you do put too much of a thing on as an adult you have the reisk of looking like a clown, so I'm trying to take baby steps with easier stuff and avoid as many big noticeable mistakes as possible. Also thanks for the heads up on the book, will look for it over the weekend!

Obvious advice from another late bloomer: do some practicing at night/at leisure, so you're not trying to get liquid eyeliner perfect right before you rush out the door.

Specific to liquid eyeliner, I did a lot of drawing swoops on the backs of my hands to help get the feel for it, and also to test how runny/flaky a brand would be before I jammed it right next to my eyeballs.

I don't have good brand advice, though, because I wound up liking Wet 'n' Wild liquid eyeliner the best. That's not just drugstore tier makeup; that's 24-hour grocery store tier, and as such I barely deserve to be posting here.

uh, W&W liquid eyeliners are the best and I will poke anyone who disagrees with me in the eye with my YSL mascara wand.
I feel validated at last. You can easily pay 10x more for liner, so I thought I was just biased by my undeveloped taste and overall cheapness.

I like that they have the bronze metallic liquid liner year round, now. And the sparkle black one, if that's your thing.

I wanna thank all the kiwis that helped this dumb redneck figure out fashion so he could get his gf nice clothes

We've been going to hot topic and spencers alot lately, found this cute backpack and alot of cute tops and dresses.

They all look amazing on her

Thanks again y'all, really helped m

Do we have a fitness thread?

I need to find a good personal trainer or buy a gym membership in general. I'm underweight for my height (5'8 and 120 lbs) and I want to gain to 130 but mostly muscle in my glute area. I have really narrow hips but I can't do anything about that unless I look into risky plastic surgery.
