He was a welding youtuber from like a decade ago who got his channel banned by posting a self narrated audiobook of The Great Replacement by Tarrant right after the Christchurch incident. The post was quickly deleted and his channel was wiped. He has pretty much vanished from the internet since then.
The main concern I get from these kind of videos is how dangerous the laser actually is compared to just how untrained the average """maker""" influencer is. In a few videos you see the beam in cutting mode go straight through one or more layers of steel and etch the concrete below. I specifically remember one shill actually burning his cameraman in the leg (not badly) while doing a cut. The reflections are hazardous, the beam is invisible and I am not sure how much I would trust Chinese no-name laser safety goggles to save my eyeballs. Not to mention if the user simply forgets to wear their goggles, or has someone else walk into their workshop they could cause lasting damage. Industrial or scientific equipment with even a fraction of that power usually requires serious interlocks and guards to prevent idiots from injuring themselves.
I have a family member that is a welder; he welds up large pieces of industrial equipment. When I saw someone demonstrate one of these last year, I asked him what he thought about them. IIRC, he told me that the company he worked for had already looked at these and isn't using them because, to be safe in the workplace, they would need to have some sort of booth for each guy doing a job so you wouldn't have the laser randomly burning someone else.

Yes actually, to an overwhelming degree. Influencer marketing can be highly effective. Someone thinking of moving away from a cheap Ikea build to something like this is gonna be facing a lot of sticker shock, which is very easily remediated with "Look, its good enough for all these other creators and you've heard of and even watch a couple". And if they're not KiwiFarmers, they're probably even holding a generally positive perception towards them. Its an advanced version of buying the same tool brand your dad used because "well it worked for him", just applied to parasocial relationships.
That is often the case with YouTubers. I used to rate a load of people highly until I read the material they were referencing or actually learned how to do whatever they were doing. I quickly found out they they were often lacklustre or sometimes just full of shit.

Not necessarily someone buying furniture for an actual office(as in multiple desks) but for a home office, sure.

TV ad? $10k to 500k or more a spot, depending on channel, time of day, and what the content is at the time. Superbowl ads in 2026 were what, 8-10 million?
Now compare that to shipping a few dozen desks for $700 a pop to a bunch of youtube channels where you can see how many eyeballs were on the video with the ad, get demographics of viewership basically immediately, and if you do have to pay these guys to post a video that'll get a half million views you're still only out a few extra grand per channel. Shitty influencer marketing is an order of magnitude cheaper than traditional marketing which is why so many businesses have been doing it for years now, and the best part is the burden of production is entirely on the youtube channel instead of having to hire a marketing company or internal personnel to make the ads for you, all while having way better reach outside of shit such as people watching superbowl ads as entertainment.

Sounds about right. Normal welding you can just setup in a corner of a shop, throw up some curtains and it isn't a big deal. Laser? Needs a fully contained room because a stray bounce above what a welding curtain would cover could bounce and scatter around the entire building being a hazard.

First, Linus can't plan for shit. They didn't plan that meeting pod thing and still managed to fuck up the location of the electrical outlets relative to the screen. Since this is serious big boy work and requires permits, he'll need actual plans drawn up to submit to get the permits. It takes time, and it's boring. Even if he and his crew obviously aren't drawing up the plans themselves, talking to a contractor and architectural firm to have it drawn up isn't "content".
Second, both Linus and the farm idiot's projects require service upgrades from the utility company. More people who likely won't want to be on camera, nor can Linus pretend to help or whatever.
Third, there are definitely trademan who would happily be on camera. Fuck, it's free advertisement for them in a way. This shit happens all the time on home improvement TV shows, even youtube channels now. But there's a big difference between Linus and his production crew not knowing wtf they're doing, and that Canadian home builder TV guy.... Mark Holmes or some shit? Holmes on Homes and a bunch of other shows? Same with the plumbing. You can see as the camera pans around the place, there's no plumbing anywhere still(again permits, plans, contractors, etc.) other than some pre-existing drains and roof vents. Which makes this entire thing even more retarded... because no plumbing, roof work may still need to be done, then do the electrical because at that point you should know where your counters, outlets, switches, etc. should be in relation to the plumbed in fixtures... considering they cut out most of the existing plumbing.
They're in the kitchen area(or rather it's behind them) in that frame. There's nothing for the kitchen island that is I guess planned. There appears to be a pipe(don't know if it's gas or water) running along the wall where they plan to put a TV and stubbed out into the living room area for some reason. No idea what the fucking flexible duct hanging down is for. On the right you can see what was likely the original sink drain and roof vent, that I guess they don't plan on using so that doesn't even have a reason to be there. The white shit above the window looks like it's roof venting running to a soffit vent that would extend across attic space against hte roof up to the peak of the roof for a ridge vent, but why would it only have the one piece?
And for some reason they appear to have installed a brand new ceiling fan in a room
And of course at this point in the video, I missed it earlier but they talk about smart lawnmowers and even admit it's just going to be an IOT dumpster fire.
There's also nothing to indicate they know anything about efficiency either. I mentioned the ERV previously. They've got some old skylights but don't appear to have any interest in using sun tunnels to assist in lighting some areas(since they've got the ceiling space this would be super easy to do), they're doing some DIY AC shit so definitely no geothermal heatpump, etc. There's so much interesting shit they could do but simply won't because they want to do everything the temu way.
