IF YOU ARE REPORTING A BUG YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST INCLUDE YOUR DEVICE AND BROWSER DETAILS. DO NOT MAKE ME ASK.
I have finished a substantial upgrade from XenForo 1.5 to XenForo 2.1. This has been planned for literal years but because I've had to concern myself with money I've not had the time to commit to development for the Kiwi Farms. Thanks to significant large dollar support recently, I've finally had two months to sit down and prepare this update. If you'd like to chip in, the Merchant's Guild is open to all.

With this downtime, I have opted to change things not strictly related to software.

Software
  1. XF2's framework is significantly faster than XF1's and you should notice increased responsiveness.
  2. XF2 allows me to use Redis for memory caching and PHP7.2 on top of that, which further increases the site's responsiveness.
  3. XF2's framework is much nicer than XF1's and I will be developing custom features for the site as long as I am afforded the time.
  4. Missing is Featured Threads. The mod author from XF1 did not make an XF2 version and I probably have to write my own.
  5. New are bookmarks. Any user-generated content on the site should be able to be saved to your personal bookmarks, including posts mid-thread.
  6. New is OP postbits. Thread OPs retain a postbit on any post they make in their thread.
Design
  1. By updating the software I've discarded about 5 years of tinkering in the stylesheets. Our design was very custom. It will take probably take weeks before it feels like home to me again.
Staffing
  1. @CatParty was temporarily staffed during downtime and subsequently fired before I brought the site up.
  2. To eliminate confusion between who can ban and who can only manage posts, I've eliminated the Manager role. All previous managers are now considered Admins. No privileges have been changed. @wagglyplacebo and @Clown Doll are still the only people who can manage features besides me.
  3. Moderators are now colored Blue. I've always thought they should be blue.
  4. I am reconsidering the Janitor system. I would like a lot more board-specific helpers and will probably be increasing hands-on-deck for the Proving Grounds to help get content polished and pushed out timely. Please don't send me applications, I'll post about it later.
  5. I've removed anything related to the ADF inclusion warning.
Chat
  1. I've rewritten chat from scratch. I'll be working on it actively to include a lot of fun, great ideas I have.
  2. Whispers do not work! There are no chat commands. Do not try to whisper.
  3. There's some annoying fucking bug where the autoscroll doesn't work if people are posting images so pls no post images.
Reactions
  1. The rating menu is annoying people. It has been mentioned. You do not need to mention it. I am aware people do not like it. I will threadban people who do not read the thread to see what's been brought up 10 times per page.
  2. Rating icons look bad on the alert page.
  3. The thunkful rating is now Thunk-Provoking and is no longer the single most anomalous and broken feature on the entire site.
  4. Achievement ratings are now worth 1000 points instead of 1.
  5. Press 1 / Press 2 have been fully deprecated and turned into Agree / Disagree respectively.
  6. Powerlevel has been renamed 'TMI', leading future generates to wonder what the fuck the icon is.
  7. Horrifying no longer requires being a True and Honest Fan.
  8. Nice Meme! is temporarily disabled.
MediaWiki
  1. The MediaWiki bridge has been severed. I will not be fixing it.
  2. My plan instead is to make OPs communized with wiki-style collaborative editing.
  3. The Lolcow Wiki will stay up for the foreseeable future in a read-only state.
Probably a lot of other stuff. I'll update this as I find it.

Honestly I don't know why everyone was worrying. I for one had complete and unshakable faith that Null wasn't going to break the site. I quite like the new look tbh.

I mean I'm gonna be honest I preferred the old design but I can work with this. If anything are the small icons going to be added back like how the chris subforum had the sonichu and chris thing, amberlynn had an ambulance and so on. I don't know, really likes those small details, made it look less generic.

It's fucking material design. Google decreed there shalt be Material Design and every cocksucker on the planet made it so.

Not a complaint per se but not all ratings show. Some posts with ratings show them, others don't.

Might be remembering wrong but alerts as a whole in the latest alerts page don't link to the post in question, you have to click on the thread in the alert.

Actually I do have a complaint about the new style sheet.

In threads would it be possible to put a semi-transparent grey background behind all of the message boxes/the message area? The background segments between each post make the page seem less-unified. That busy, multicolored gap is distracting. Even if you had a simple gray square behind them at 50% opacity it would help cinch it all together.

Got this error message when looking in the chat archive:

Also the cheevo rating is free for all

I hate the way it looks, but it's not like I'm going anywhere else. I'll probably get used to it in a couple weeks.

Edit: To add something somewhat constructive I'm not the biggest fan of the fact that the "Latest Posts" and "Newest Threads" are gone from the main page. I found "Latest Posts" at the bottom and on the "What's New" page but I can't find "Newest Threads"
