Doom fans online have almost universally in my experience been laughable trollshielders like you. A few exceptions, but Doom communities can be pretty fucking hilarious. You say "actual Barneyfags" need a thread? I think Doomfags need a thread. Any group who puts hundreds of hours of LPs and mapmaking into a 20+ year old game has to be some level of autistic as a community, enough to warrant a thread.

Well, to be fair, you could say that about any retro game such as Mario, Sonic, Megaman, Zelda, what with the numerous romhacks, fan videos and art those games have to their name.

You can say that splatoon is for family just like Barneyfags can say Barney is for family, they are both clearly oriented for children and are both equally lacking in anything for adults specifically.
there is nothing wrong with liking children oriented things, but don't act like you are higher and mightier than other people who enjoy another child-oriented thing just because you think it's stupid

Splatoon is a third-person-shooter game, which I know appeals to many adult gamers out there, and like how Nintendo is dabbling into new genres. It was clearly made for a broader demographic was than Barney. I read an interview with one of the writers of the show, apparently the writers actually did want to include more adult references and humour but the show's creator said it interfered with the educational model for the show which was "not to include anything that the show's target demographic wouldn't understand".
So I can't really fault the writers, it's just the creator wasn't really liberal when it came to trying to make the show more accessible to a wider audience.
