Lay's new Masala flavor is awful

A fucking bag of Lays is more than two yurodollars here now, fucking joke. Still the best chips brand.
Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't "masala" just mean spice? So what is the flavor supposed to be.
Masala means spice mix (Garam Masala is "Warming spice mix" IIRC). I imagine it's just an overload of cumin and curry powder in this case.
I feel like store brands (for snacks at least) are often just as comparable or better than name brands. I think it's more Lays in particular that I find notably lower quality; which is pretty abhorrent since they reign as the leading name brand potato chip in the USA
Lidl storebrand potato chips suck dick compared to Lays. Especially the riffled ones.
Lidl storebrand of these are S-tier, they only stock them periodically sadly.

I was thinking they were going for like Tika Masala (which is British, but it's totally American to see a curry and brand it all Indian)

Take the Utz pill. I recommend the Grandma Utz chips if you can find them. Cooked in lard not oil.

Utz are good, I'm personally fond of their extra dark pretzels.
Utz has a kettle chip called Dark Russets that I can never find at my local grocery stores. So good, but so hard to find.

For all the nitpicking I said about the taste, I was mostly appalled by the stench of the "Masala" chips. I don't understand how it made it to shelves when the first impressions are "Looks greasy, smells like armpits".

I'll have to check Jim's next time I'm in, he'll probably have them if anyone does.

Going for that Indian market, I guess, maybe the shitlibs who will claim to like it and you're racist if you don't.

It looks like something I'd like to try. But I hardly eat chips so they seem too salty now.

Worst smelling snack I ever had was the buffalo Combos. Smelled like cat diarrhea. This can't be much worse.

That's garam masala.
I was gonna swear that was a monster from Monster Hunter.

We have a chip brand where I live that's sold as part of a local grill take away service and it's divine, easily beats any other chips I've tasted, and it's quite cheap too. However it's only on sale at the grill, I can't find it anywhere else, in real life or on the internet.

I've never had curry flavored chips that didn't taste like you're eating the spice mix straight from the pot.

I occasionally buy Lay's brand chips but it largely depend on the flavor. This is just looks like it smells like a poo-in-loo caught a particularly bad case of swamp ass.

I love Tim's and Zapp's when I can find 'em, I'm especially a fan of Zapp's Voodoo chips and Tim's Special Batch chips depending on the flavor (I love their limited-time smoky bacon chips but most of the regular flavors I'm a fan of are a pain in the ass to find outside of the PNW).

Jim's may not have the Danish chips, but I'll check his Scandi aisles, he's busy expanding that section so it could change in a couple months. I know I've seen Zapp's and the Voodoo flavor, I'll have to give them a try. Seriously, if you ever find yourself in SW Ohio and can swing it, hit the Jungle Jim's in Fairfield. It's more than a grocery store, it's an experience. The cheese selection might even make Null happy, he had a sale on some fancy Italian cheese, something with sheep's milk and black truffle, 50% off so still $20 a pound. Absolutely fantastic though.

I've tried several of the Chinese Lay's flavors before, stuff like various seafood flavors, a chocolate dessert flavor, and cucumber. There were a couple of interesting "flavors of America" ones released over the last ten years including loaded baked potato but the reality is nothing stacks up to the original (salt).

On a related note, is the IHOP Rooty Tooty Fresh ‘N Fruity flavor already gone?

Maybe you should try eating four bags of Lance Chip Thunder Potato Chips?

If they’re anything like Walmart’s exclusivity deal involving Cajun Cheddar Cheetos snacks and mac and cheese then they were probably scooped up by scalpers.
Food scalpers are the absolute worst. That was one of the things that could've gone right in the whole Ghostbusters 2016 fiasco, Coca-Cola rereleased the much-missed Ecto Cooler and then decided to release it in four retailers, all of which had online shops and all of which sold out instantly.

I'd imagine it tastes like dirt like all items that contain cumin
Cumin smells and tastes like armpits to me. I can't stand it.
The only mark against them is their salt and vinegar flavor is bad. Other wise I agree, they are very nice.
I find all wise chips have a burnt taste. If you can find them, Herrs kettle cooked salt & vinegar and my favorite. I used to like the Snyder's kettle salt and vinegar but the went and fucked with them and now they aren't as good.
