Have an Asus Laptop that I’ve had for about 2 years. Last month one day it suddenly shut off and wouldn’t turn back on again.

Took it to a repair shop and took out the battery and drained the residual power. Worked for a few days.

Then it died again.

They took out and cleaned the battery and did the static shock drain again.

Worked for a few days.

Died again.

Ordered a new battery and had to wait 3 weeks for it to arrive.

Got it installed last Monday, seemed to have worked fine.

About an hour ago while on the farms, it shut off again out of the blue. Won’t turn on again. Stone cold dead.

Any suggestions or help or is my laptop just fucked?

Does the laptop work just being plugged in without a battery? Are the batteries OEM? Any damage between the battery pin connections? If nothing else, it may be something internal with the motherboard not properly regulating power.
I haven’t done much with the internal components other then having a battery installed at a repair place by some lispy 18 year old.

Should I take it to another place to check for internal damage? Thermal paste check? I do have a laptop fan but it’s pretty shit.

I had that issue as well with my Dell. It was static electricity. I got it to work by just holding the power button for a full 45 seconds and then waiting like 5 second before clicking it once and it worked.

It's probably ghosts or something.

Could be just the battery, but you already swapped it. It could also be motherborad issues, in which case it might mean the entire thing needs to be thrown away unless you can find the motherboard for sale.

Have you tried putting on some romantic music or some softcore porn you're both into?

Oh hell. How much is a motherboard?

Don't do that. That will completely erase everything on the computer.

I found something about resetting the BIOS on the computer could help. If that doesn't work, it may be a bad motherboard.
This agent of chaos is trying to deceive you. Resetting the bios will wipe your system, but deleting system32 will let your system flow through all of its hardware instead of bogging your system down to 32 mAs not giving it enough power to stay on.

Wait, but does it work if you remove the battery but plug the laptop in? If it's just battery then the laptop should turn on (if plugged in).

probably a short somewhere
remove the battery and anything else plugged into it, hold power button for 30+ seconds, plug it back in and turn on
if it keeps happening you might as well just get a new laptop or cough up however much it is for a new motherboard
