Sooooo I just found out this evening my baby brother's high school is closing for two weeks or so because some kid tested positive. They're not telling us what class the kid's from, though, but everyone and their families has to self-quarantine for two weeks.

Thing is, my brother's in a self-contained class, and even during lunch they eat in the classroom. I honestly doubt he's been exposed otherwise they would've told us. But whatever, two weeks compared to, what, four months of being able to go do jackshit shouldn't be a big deal. I work from home anyway, and the twins are going to be talking to their manager about it in the morning. They're thinking on taking one for the team and go get tested to take the paid leave.

This'll be fun.

You could just... not do it. No one's forcing you.

This sucks.
Yesterday was mostly just being so so SO tired all day with some back pain and occasional heart pounding. Then that evening my heart revved up and wouldn't go back to normal for maybe a couple hours. I could feel my pulse in my teeth, my fingertips, everywhere. If I needed to move around, the fatigue made it almost impossible. It was like my heart was taking all the energy to do whatever the hell it thought it was doing.

Sense of smell is being weird. I couldn't smell the critter poo that I cleaned up, but I could smell something in the trash can as the worst smell ever, even though nothing in there should be that bad. I sniffed an apple-spice air freshener and could only smell the apple, no spice.

This morning I have a sinus headache, probably because there's rain in the area. I can feel my pulse in my sinuses, which already hurt. Also back pain is there again. I do not approve.

I was talking to someone on the phone the other day and, when I said I hadn't gotten tested and didn't plan to go out of my way to get tested, they asked me how I was going to know if I was okay to leave my house. Like, they think I need to have a negative test to be allowed in society again. Wtf?

Edit October 17 - Yesterday and today I feel a lot better but I don't trust it. I keep waiting for the near-death experience Reddit has promised will happen if ever I should come in contact with the Coof.

Edit October 19 - I still feel okay but with a sense that something isn't right. Like, I feel sick but can't name any specific symptoms, if that makes any sense. I still get really tired at random, and my blood pressure/heart rate still shoots up out of nowhere. (I have no history of high blood pressure btw.)

Edit October 23 - Today I've felt positively normal. Is this okay? Reddit and Facebook told me I'm supposed to die or be crippled for life. Did I do it wrong?

Última edición:
For those of you who lost the sense of taste/smell, how long did it take for them to return?

I first noticed some moderate cold-like symptoms late last week but those are like 95% gone now.
Around Sunday, though, that's when taste and smell just suddenly disappeared and still haven't come back.

Took around a week and a half for mine to come back (from the moment I started feeling weird)

Welp. I'm officially a coofer now. I hope I survive. If anyone else here is also a coofer, I hope you guys pull through too. If I don't make it, then let me say in advance thank you Kiwifarms for being the only Internet forum I've enjoyed posting on. So far, it just feels like I have the common cold.

Hope it stays that way and then gets better.

Friend just got done with it and tested negative after a little less than 2 weeks. 24 year old white guy in generally good health, meaning there's nothing wrong with him but he drinks a lot and smokes pot sometimes, works out a few times a week.

He said the first day he was feeling a bit tired and sore but by day 2 he was working remotely. Said his cough lasted a couple days and stuff didn't taste right but by the end of the first week he was fine but tested positive again. He seemed to get it very mildly. I've noticed for the last few weeks, maybe a month, my sense of taste has been off (stuff tastes sticky, if that makes sense, hard to explain) but I never had any other symptoms. If I had it, it was nothing. But I doubt I had it.

I went to go see my mom today who was cleaning her whole house for God knows what since nobody is coming over for Halloween. She loves it though and has everything decorated ready to go and bought the big full sized candy bars for anyone who comes out to trick or treat. She was coughing and I said I'd drive her to get a test but she was firm in saying "it's just because I'm cleaning, I'm not getting that shit like an idiot". I love that woman even if she is crazy.

Don't be conditioned into thinking negatively about it. If you do it'll be the worst (and longest) two weeks of your life. Pull through. Not only are the overwhelming majority of people pulling through with this, the "permanent" damages it may cause seem to happen with people who have an underlying issue that the coof aggravates.

The WHO is saying 700 million people (10% of the population) has probably had it by now. If that is true, and even taking excess deaths into account, this isn't something to be fearful of. As with any other disease, even a cold, you don't want to get it but hang in there and check in with us in a few weeks.

How long until getting COVID becomes a fetish?

"son fills step mom with seed and gives her the coof XXX"
Hate to break it to you bud

Thank you, AnOminous!

Good point and I agree. I'm going to stay positive and not let this destroy me. Right now, since it feels like the cold I'm going to treat it that way. I'm taking vitamins, drinking lots of fluids, and getting lots of rests.

On the downside, I can't go back to my election job. I was looking forward to the excitement of election day too. Well, exciting for me! Also, this song cheers me up a lot:

I had it back in March. Actually my sister and I both got it at the same time, so she came over to hunker down with me. We're both young, healthy, fit/thin, white- in the lowest risk category. We figured we'd hang out, work remotely, and watch shitty movies and TV together for the required two weeks. But damn, once the symptoms started ramping up they hit hard and just kept coming. It wasn't just the cough and fever, it was muscle spasms and chills and heart palpitations and dizziness and wheezing and blinding headaches and all kinds of shit.

Bravado crumbled pretty fast and we ended up huddled miserably in the same bed like we were kids again. Every night we would wake up drenched, with huge person-shaped pools of sweat on the sheets. For eight or so nights we'd put out sets of sheets and pajamas because we'd have to wake up at around 3 am and change everything, and then have to change it again in the morning. They don't tell you that the "muscle pain" feels like someone driving a railroad spike into your fucking joints and that no amount of OTC painkillers will touch it, nor do they help the agonizing headaches. And the fatigue was fucking surreal. I could literally go to my kitchen, get some leftovers, heat them up, and by the time I got everything and sat down I wouldn't have any energy left to eat. I would stare at the plate with a fork in my hand and be too exhausted to eat the damn food. I'd manage a few bites and then shuffle back to bed, often with one of the real fun spells of heart palpitations and dizziness on the way back. And it goes without saying that the constant coughing like you're about to choke up a lung is fucking lame.

Overall it ended up being almost three weeks of the above really shitty symptoms, then continued cough/wheezing/palpitations/shortness of breath/fatigue until the six week mark. During that time we had lung x-rays done showing that our lower lungs had gotten fucked up. At around week 5 or 6 I started to be able to climb my stairs again more regularly instead of like an 80 year old, having to go really slowly or pause in the middle. I started to be able to do more and more of my usual stuff without fucking myself up after that point, but it was more than eight weeks to get back to normal.

0/10, do not recommend. Corona is a shitlord that did not respect my young and healthy privilege. I'm grateful I had someone to share in my misery though.

calm down bro you'll be fine

This thread is smaller than I thought it would be. I wonder how many kiwis got it but either have taken it for a simple cold or decided to suck it up and recover on their own.

I would have thought it was a simple cold if not for the sudden and complete loss of taste/smell, which I'd never experienced with anything else. The taste/smell are maybe 5-10% back after a week and a half but everything else is fine.

Never went to the hospital or did any kind of special treatments; just taking some extra vitamins.
