I had a bad bout of influenza two or three weeks after I moved and got my wireless router set up. Symptoms were mild brain fog, coughing, congestion, sore throat, chills, and an increase in tactile sensitivity. The first two nights were bad but I didn't have trouble sleeping. I felt fine after five days or so. Two others with me got sick at the same time. Their symptoms differed a bit and lasted almost a week longer than mine; but those dumb lazy fucks have been living off fast food for the past two years.
I haven't had any vaccine in over half a decade.

Everyone around me has it. Mom has it, dad has it. Three coworkers are out sick because of it. Neighbor has it. Etc.

It seems much worse this time. Everyone is coughing and can't stay awake. Everyone reports severe brain fog/unable to remember anything.

I feel fine, tested negative.

So, danced with the chink slut recently. Never lost my taste or smell, but had a crazy fever/sore throat for 2 days. Then just feeling tired ans yeah the brain fog thing it’s hard to explain. I still just feel kinda tired, but I’ve only been back to work for a little bit. Most of my coworkers got it and yeah we all had the same symptoms. The being tired/sluggish thing seems to go away after another week so hope that’s true.

My symptoms where like a bad cold, not really the worst thing I have ever had in all actuality. The trippy part was the smell and taste disappearing, that went on for about 4-5 days, after all the general cold symptoms disappeared. In the beginning I honestly couldn't tell if it was just my allergies, but once the cold symptoms & fatigue kicked in, that is when I knew. My mandatory isolation period finally ended , and looks like I have survived my date with Corona-Chan. I have fully recovered now and I know I have natural immunity to it. A few people I know that had it around the same time as me have all recovered. Wasn't the most pleasant illness, but not the worst I have had.

I hate how (atleast in the U.S.) naturally acquired immunity isn't really talked about. Fauci was asked about it recently and was like "yeah I dunno". There's all this talk about how many cases there are, which means a big chunk of the population are getting some form of immunity, but there's not much elaboration. There are people working night and day on understanding this disease and you're telling me after two years you have nothing on that?

It's frustrating because no one has been able to give me a good answer on whether the current vaccine would even be actually be helpful to the recently infected at this point.

I didn't have any lasting effects from catching that I know of, so I have nothing to add there, but I did test positive for antibodies a month ago. I had a really mild illness so I was curious about that. I got sick mid April.

Natural immunity is stronger and better than the vaccine. CDC knows this obviously but won't talk about it publically because they don't want people to choose to get infected rather than take the vaccine. If you've got antibodies nah, I'd say there's no point.

I mentioned I had caught the chink coof about a month ago in A&H, so I might as well add myself to the litany here.

It wasn't terrible most of the time. During the day I was okay. I felt significantly worse at night, though, for some reason. I'd wake up in cold sweats every two or three hours. My solution to this was to just switch my sleep schedule so I was awake at night, For some reason I didn't have those symptoms at all during the day, so I slept far better. Breathing was mostly fine, but I was coughing up mucus. I did get hoarse for a few days. Boss made me take two weeks out of the office anyway, but I felt fine after about four days.

No loss of taste/smell sense like some others report. Still haven't gotten my fucking sleep schedule back on track though. It sure is a lot easier to fuck it up then to go back.

Had it about a month back, I'd only had the one vaccination shot at that point. No symptoms, slight cough, nothing I would have noticed without a test - which I only took because my fully-vaccinated partner tested positive and felt far more sever flu-like symptoms than I did.

Guy I work with, his wife got it, then he did - couple days later he's on a ventilator, and an ECMO (pumps and oxygenates the blood outside the body). According to the medical staff, there was a point where it really wasn't certain that he'd survive - but he pulled through, doing absolutely fine now with no lasting symptoms. He's 45, exercises reguarly and watches his diet, no underlying health conditions (that anyone is aware of, including him). Fully vaccinated.

I feel like I maybe had the coof in 2020 as I was technically an essential worker and around people and felt shitty for about a week, but never thought much of it because I only go seek medical aid if my skin is peeling and I'm coughing my lungs up.

just recovered from it and here to report.

for the first week i had extreme fatigue and body aches. also had the coldsweats and turbo-shits. more scarier, i had loss of motor function. writing was impossible, had a lot of brain fog, and getting out of bed each day felt like learning to walk over and over, whole ass bambi's first steps type shit. wonder if i might have actually got brain damage lmao
i got tested, was confirmed to have the coof, and bunkered down in isolation for the remaining weeks of sickness. i did not experience much of the coughing, although in the middle of my sickness, at night i would be accosted by coughs. the nights i'd take cough medicine i sucked on a cough drop to get enough relief to sleep, and the nights i didn't i put myself down with nyquil (i am very small so nyquil knocks my ass out easily). i took a lot of vitamins and had a humidifier running to prevent dryness of throat, i think the humidifier did a lot of good for me. i also took walks with my dog whenever i could to get some sunlight, mask stayed on when i left the house but the fresh air felt like a godsent. i do live in a heavily wooded area with not much people around so the air is pretty clean.
honestly, it was just the first week that was bad for me, i actually lost 10lbs from sleeping constantly and lack of appetite, and i lost a significant amount of body strength. i've been doing weightlifting to regain strength, nothing too extreme i'm taking it nice and easy.

stay safe out there, kiwis.

Had it early this year. After father tested positive I went to my parents to be there (and also to either finally get korona or see if I had it earlier and didn'T know. I never had a test, used fakes)

I think the whole thing for me was about 12 days. First couple I slowly lost the sense of smell, then a week of basically what I get from a normal flu with the exception of the fatigue, that for me came in strong one day, and was completely gone the next day. The last couple days the only sympton I still had was the rapidly returning sense of smell. Had 0 respiratory issues, and neither did my parents.

Didn't notice any change in physical endurance or whatever, as I did go on a hike just before and just after and the experience was basically the same, also when on bike trips no changes.

One recommendation I have for koronakiwis is to try 100% apple juice for the time you have no smell and taste. It still tastes good. I drank like 50 liters of it.

Update, last friday or so, everything suddenly got worse for a while, I could barely get out of bed, but couldn't sleep either, and had no appetite and couldn't get food down. I felt like utter shit about maybe about 2-3 days, until maybe monday or tuesday, after which I slowly started recovering again, fixed my sleep schedule, was eating again, etc. Now I'm pretty much over it except a cough when exerting myself, but my fever and fatigue are pretty much gone. Should be ready for work again by next week.

My sister and her entire family have it. 12 year old nephew is currently in the ICU, but responding well to treatment.

Sister is beside herself as she can't be at the hospital with him. Pretty sucky weekend, to be honest.

Update 4+ weeks later (forgot the date).

I feel better. It still comes and goes, bu the peaks and valleys are leveling out. It's a rough vax, and I have a tendency to react badly with all vax. J&J is roughest, I hear....
I'm certain there is heart issues as well. I've had some chest pain-but it's just as likely to be gas/indigestion...

Just wondering about any lasting damage.

Faggot management is attempting the tried and true strategy of memory-holing the whole thing. Some boomer must have a lawyer-wife, and landed a C&D.
2 memos literally saying vax are _mandatory_ Month later- crickets-.
They overstepped, and they know it. Typically 30-somethings would 2x, 3x, and 4x -down, reinforcing an opinion. Board-of-Directors roped management in, showing them how much their annual bonus will be reduced by legal fees.

I got positive on covid a year ago. Because I thought I was going to die, I considered making my goodbye videos telling each world leader that I'll meet you and your privileged families in hell, while on a hospital bed.

It's been well over a year, and things bloody do not taste or smell right anymore.

Does everything taste sort of like prison food to you and smell like literal garbage water?

Had coof twice...i feel this is permanent cause i am starting to forget what things taste and smell like.

Its like an off switch and even hot sauce i cant taste the heat but i feel the burn further back.

Its like trying everything for the first time again and it all tastes just like fucking numbness

I feel that, more than you could ever know. (Or perhaps, just as much.)

Does everything taste sort of like prison food to you and smell like literal garbage water?
To answer a question I wasn't asked: Yes. Walking through a food court at noon now smells like a dumpster, though at the wrong distance - close food smells like a dumpster a little farther away, so it's had time to mix with some air and fade a bit. Unpleasant AND confusing.

To no doubt rehash a couple of old posts of mine: I used to sometimes spend my lunch hour not eating. I'd walk to a well-maintained green space, sit down, and read by the roses. Now, it's all I do. Whites smell OK-but-off but reds still smell the same as I remember, so I go out of my way to sit down by some reds if I can. (I never liked the pink cultivar there, was always obnoxious and smelled like someone was attempting to replicate bubblegum in a plant. Now it smells almost like the reds.) Winter's going to be oddly sad for me.

Red meat by and large tastes and smells like... well, like chemicals. And not in the "oooh, everything is a chemical" sense, but in the caustic-bad-get-away sense. It's like a mix of the stuff used to perm hair and the smell I recall when I lived in oil country whenever the wind was coming from the industrial quarter. Chicken and body odor now smell the same, like some odd fusion of what the two used to smell like.

Fast food has gone from meh-but-filling to tastes-like-actual-poison now. Someone took me out for breakfast at A&W after I recovered and it was... interesting. He ate all of his and half of mine (I wasn't hungry after I smelled it) and said it was fine. I did some experimental tastes of each part alone and was shocked to find the bacon, the eggs, and the hash brown all tasted exactly the same. (Vile, but that's beside the point, they were the SAME vile.) The sausage was lousy like usual, but it was the lousy I remembered from before - that's when I realized they were shilling one of those almost-meat vegan sausage things. So I started wondering if it was the taste of meat that was damaged and bought a few vegetables to taste test. They seem (mostly - it's always "mostly") the same. Shame I never liked vegetables to start with.

I also cooked some bacon I'd bought and tried it. A different terrible from fast food bacon but still terrible. A friend of mine hypothesized that "maybe you're tasting the rot", the idea being that all food decays (if only slightly) as soon as it stops being part of a living thing, and maybe those trace amounts of the first broken-down proteins in meat are all I'm getting so it's magnified. He said if I can ever get out to one of the outskirt farms to see if I can arrange a time to get a steak that was walking a couple hours ago. An interesting experiment to be sure but I'm not sure what it'll prove since I have no pre-covid memory of meat that fresh.

Cheese: Mostly tastes like... I don't know. Blunted. Like cheese trying desperately to be inoffensive. I can't tell the difference between Swiss, Havarti, and Mozzarella anymore, except by texture. The Parmesan I used to buy (off of a wheel, so not exactly Kraft tube quality here) now is more like... cheesy green apples? It's not poison but it's hardly something I enjoy. Found the store brand stuff at least still tastes like some-cheese and no not-cheese and switched to that for my salads. (I eat a lot of salads now - Caesar hasn't changed much at all, even the dressing despite the use of anchovies. Also if I feel I need meat I can get some chicken and cut it small enough that it mixes in with the dressing and I can barely taste it.)

Bread has a bit of the new meat taste now, but it didn't fall as far. I can still eat a good sourdough but store loafs have gone from bland to unpleasant. Butter's kinda OK? Merely "off", not "bad".

Milk is still milk. Pop is - pop but sharper; cream soda of all things seems the most palatable now. I don't really drink alcohol but beer (by which I mean IPAs, the only ones I liked enough to have on occasion) seems beer-ish enough. Though I can't tell brands apart anymore, it's all "beer". I guess it's the hops?

My favorite desserts are mostly the same but blunted. I actually gained weight for a while there because I started chasing the feeling of fullness without realizing it, only just got back down to my old weight.

I don't eat out much anymore. One place I used to go that made a great omelet and OK bacon was an exception, as now it's more a so-so omelet and tolerable bacon but that's as good as it gets for me now. But with all the lockdown stupidity the owner/cook had to downsize to one waitress a few weeks back and it just had to be the annoying political one. I'm not going to sit there eating food I can't taste right and get lectured on covid from someone who hasn't had it but has all the answers. If she was gone I might start going there again every couple weeks, just for some meat and eggs I can eat. I guess I'll get a pizza this week from the pizza place I always used to go to. Was amazing, now palatable, but I just realized that if I don't do that I'll have NO meat in my diet this week so I guess it's got priority now.

But I'm rambling. Sorry for the TMI, but most people think I'm hamming it up or that I'm crazy. It feels good to finally vent all this and know that SOMEONE other than my two oldest and best friends will believe me.

Had twice...i feel this is permanent cause i am starting to forget ehat things taste and smell like
I don't think I am, but only because of my dreams. Not kidding - taste and smell has become a notable element of my dreams, enough that it sticks with me. I can't tell you what the hell my dreams are about except that two nights ago I had one that involved fresh-baked bread. It was nice. I miss that.

I'm fairly sure I got delta, but didn't get tested because fuck you that's why. I wanted to know if anyone had basically similar symptoms (and tested positives)

- Lasted 7-9 days
- Throat felt a bit hoarse once in a while but that was it
- Very little coughing
- Almost no temperature
- Could always smell or taste
However:
- Tired as fuck. Like, would sleep 10 hours and one or two hours after I was up, I'd feel tired again
- Felt like my body was fighting something in the background
- My head was especially sweaty when I slept. The rest of my body was fine, but when I'd wake up, neck and up was drenched in sweat while the rest was dry.
- Occasional headache

For the most part I just rested, vitamins C, D & Zinc, with the occasional drinking of alcohol because lol fuck you china.

I mean it could be something else entirely, but it's weird that I'd catch something that wasn't a flu or cold with those kinds of symptoms in fucking September of all months. I was also in close contact with a bunch of people who caught covid, or who were themselves in contact with people who caught covid but didn't get sick.

Anyone got something similar and was tested and it was, in fact, the coof?

My whole family had that. I just got over it.

It's not the coof. It's a rough cold going around the US.
