My Grandfather briefly encountered Albert Einstein while fishing as a young boy in Princeton. My Great Grandfather had to tell him who it was after he left since he had no idea.
 
Roger Lloyd-Pack (Trigger from Only Fools and Horses) was sat at the bar in a theatre I went to in London with my aunt 5 years ago (I'd been in there seeing a show, Roger wasn't in it but he was probably friends with some of the cast). I didn't see him as at the time I was focused on something else. It was only after I left my aunt said to me "Oh did you see Trigger from Only Fools and Horses at the bar?".

I guess if we can chime family events in My Grandpa met Einstein somewhere my dad has a book he signed for him. My Grandfather used to serve Frank Sinatra underage, during prohibition. My family is a perfect reason we need the wall, they come over and open an illegal company and sell drugs to kids.

My mom's list of people she met is huge because she was into all the hippy music and had a few friends on the inside. If he wasn't so messed up I coulda had Jim Morrisons kid lol. She met him right at the end and said it was really sad to the point star struck and all didn't kick in. The list would be huge so I'll spare everyone but pretty much any of the folky singer song writers of that era and tons of the rock.

My dad swears he's featured in Foucault's Pendulum, being he was explaining it to his at the time g/f and noticed Eco off in the corner writing and chatted with him.

Einstein asked him if he had caught anything. After he left my Great Granddad goes to him, "You do know who that was, right?..." Something like that. I should ask my Dad next time I see him since my Grandfather is deceased.
 
In one of my few life missteps I saw Hakim Warrick outside in the rain after a Pitt game and I exclaimed that he would be a great NBA player.
 
If we're talking family events my Dad has a good one. 7th of October 1967 Jimi Hendrix played the Wellington Club in Dereham. Now Bare in mind that THIS is The Wellington Club (as of 2004 when it closed)

Halfway through his Set Hendrix got thirsty and sautnered up to the bar and sat next to my Dad, ordered a drink and chatted to him and a few others for about five minutes. Also that year this dinky little postage stamp of a Club hosted Pink Floyd, Cream and Jeff Beck, my Dad saw all of them, ten feet from the artists, no fancy lights, no barriers or fences. He also saw The Small Faces another year. Now he listens to Chris De Burgh.........

Now that I think about it, I remember meeting Marjane Satrapi during my freshman year of college. I was pretty much the embodiment of the heart-eyes emoji.

She seems like a very inspirational person. I've only ever seen the English dubbed film version of Persepolis but I loved it. She had a really interesting story to tell.

Meeting her was so surreal and amazing. She's legit one of my ~idols~ or heroes or whatever, so I went all stupid-incoherent-word-vomit when I asked her to sign my copies of Persepolis. Her lecture was awesome, too. It was about how literature both affects and is affected by the events of "the real world" and how literature can be used as a method to affect change. Really fascinating stuff.
 
My brother and I met Mankind when he was big when we were kids at Disney World. My brother was a huge fan, but I didn't give a shit about wrestling so I was just sorta making small talk with his kids while we waited in line, while my brother gushed over their dad. He seemed nice, but he clearly didn't want to be noticed, he just wanted to have a fun time at Disney world, and my brother was signal boosting the fuck out of him. To be fair, my brother was 9 at the time, though, so he didn't understand.

I also met Steve Blum (a very famous voice actor) during a convention. really nice guy.
 
My dad installed HBO for the Kennedys back during the 80s. Apparently they were real fucking assholes. He said it was one of the worst assignments he got at that job, and that dealing with a house full of heroine addicts was much more pleasant.
 
I can't believe I forgot to post the only time I've been star struck and probably the biggest star I ever met.

I met Iron Mike himself. He was touring doing his one man show about his life. My friend was friends with the stage director and got me an in for the after party. I was so excited I dug in my old bin of games and brought along my copy of Mike Tyson's punch out on NES. It was a pretty standard mixer and Mike was making the rounds. When he finally got to our little group, I noticed he's not been in the ring in a long while and has a huge smile, but he's got a build that's intimidating still. I'm about his height but he's still just a barrel of muscle. We shook hands, and it was a proper hand shake but you just could tell he could crush you if he wanted.

He was incredibly polite nice and caring. He asked me what my deal was and at the time I was in school. He was just so thrilled what I was doing and wanted me to do well. Like he seriously was rooting for me. He talked to everyone there for like 5 minutes he just wanted to know people's story and was thankful so many people cared and liked him.

I completely forgot to get a picture or have him sign my game, because I was so taken back I was having a real conversation with him. Through the manager who heard the story was kind enough to get me a signed beer coaster from the event.

My mom and aunt claimed to have seen him while we were in New York several years ago. He was apparently getting into a limo with some chick and my mom and aunt claimed that they made eye contact with him and he smiled at them.
 
I met Johnny Depp once on a plane in the early 2000s. It was on our flight back from England, so eight-year-old me was too pissed and cranky to really notice but apparently I asked him for his orange juice.
 
A while ago I went to GDC in San Francisco. It was a pretty awesome experience, but the best part was one morning I went to some restaurant for breakfast, and after a few minutes the waiter sat down a group of people not too far from me. I eventually noticed that one of the people in this group was Warren Spector (director of Deus Ex and also credited in games like Thief and System Shock).

Eventually I got up and asked him if he was Warren Spector. He said "Yes". After that, I just shook his hand and said "Thank you for making Deus Ex". He replied by chuckling and saying "Thank you for remembering it" and that was pretty much the whole exchange.

Last time I went to GDC I attended a talk by Piotr Iwanicki (director of SUPERHOT), and later shook his hand too. He was a really enthusiastic guy, and he gave some good advice too.

Since this is Kiwi Farms, I should also mention that I went to a couple talks that had Brianna Wu and Anthony Burch. I didn't know much about their lolcow-ness back then though, so to me they were just decently interesting talks. I never got a chance to meet them either.
 
I've only ever met three celebs all briefly, met ric flair (wrestler) as he lives in my home town and I went to school with his daughter who was a good volleyball player, met him at my school shook his hand and, nice guy. The other two were football players Julius peppers who played for my team for a while now he's on green bay, met him in the frozen food section of a grocery store he was there with his girl friend, he's an almost 7 foot tall black guy and she was maybe 5'4, her vagina must have been wrecked was my only thought. He was a dick I just said hey big fan didn't ask for autograph or anything and he still shot a look at his gf as if I was bothering him. Thirdly I met cam newton while he was doing a charity event, really nice guy, gets a bad rap for being an arrogant egomaniac but couldn't have been nicer, even took a photo with my nephew who was 7 and a huge fan, signed a jersey for him. My nephew still talks about it, it's amazing what 10 seconds of someones time can mean to a kid like that. He even did the dab with him.
