They left because Hank retired. It isn't like they needed to do a whole season-long arc about it.
It was just used as an amusing way for Hank to come home to the aftermath of Clown World so he could react to all the silliness of today without making everyone wonder how he'd never seen any of it before.

He took the job in Saudi prior to retirement, that doesn't explain why he would leave Strickland, uproot his teenage son from his high school experience, and whatever career Peggy had by then.
I certainly didn't want an entire season about it but I expected these basic questions to be answered instead of crap about all-gendered bathrooms and omg, remember uber?

The Saudi Arabia bit served a few purposes:
- Remove Hank from Arlen and Bobby for an extended period of time.
- Get Hank into soccer
- Both Hank and Peggy now frequently mention how different it was living in Saudi Arabia, except they lived in an exact duplicate of golden-age America + servants.
- Hank is able to retire early and before anyone he knows at about 51

So Hank loves to work and hates the idea of not working, so he went to Saudi Arabia for seven years so he could stop working, only to have a few episodes dedicated to how much he hates not working.

He left because it was a good offer. It's that simple and it happens all the time. When I was in school, I saw friends leaving because their parents took jobs in other countries. Some returned, some didn't (at least not while I was still in school). I made new friends and they did the same.
Hank left likely because it would guarantee him money for his retirement and also perhaps for Bobby's future. As for Peggy, that's how marriage works. You follow your spouse and support them. A friend of mine won a scholarship in another country and he took his wife and kid with him because he could afford it.
You might not like that explanation, but it's the explanation. There is no mystery.

That's exactly it. He ended up coaching soccer because he did everything around the house he wanted to do and couldn't find anything to give him purpose.

I loved the new season. It was so much better than it had any right to be.
Adult bobby was the best part and it somehow made Peggy slightly redeemable.
Hank getting into soccer and having to hide it was extremely relatable as a guy with a bunch of international friends who only care about soccer.
Also kill the dude who voices Kahn now. Just behead him, he sucks.

American Dad, Family Guy, Bob's Burgers, The Simpsons, and South Park already have episodes dealing with that.
I have no doubt Judge would do it better but it would still be late as fuck and heavily derivative.

You know what I found really funny about the whole "characters can only being voiced by VAs of the same race" thing? Besides casting Khan as an Asian guy who isn't even Laotian (still hilarious), there's episode three:
Bobby has to find an authentic Japanese charcoal supplier and his only option is this ultra-protective Japanese guy who will only sell to other genuine Japanese businesses.
The bit? He's black. Raised in Japan sure, but racially black.
It's kinda funny on it's own but I feel like they could have done more with this and actually made some sharper commentary.
Anyways, you wanna know who voices him? Phil LaMarr. Famous for voice acting Samurai Jack, a Japanese character voiced by a black guy
The sheer absurdity of it all is killing me.

The new episodes are fine, but watch the old episodes first.
I haven't watched those shows in years. Except for South Park, and to be honest, I don't remember anything about the last three or four seasons. I should probably stop watching it.
