Raylan is happily remarried at the end of the final season and heading out of Appalachia to live with his family.

To hell with that. Raylan enjoyed killing people too much to not catch a bullet himself, eventually. The series should have ended with him and Boyd killing each other with a more dour cover of You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive over the end credits.

Learning that this wasn't originally Justified related explains everything.
Lol during the first episode I was like 'This is like they had a show about someone else and retooled it to be the Justified spin-off.'

And yeah, Raylan never hangs up his hat and take off his boots; this nigga dies with a smoking gun in his hand

But him leaving Harlan is literally the ending of the original show wasn't it? It's been a while. That was what I was referring to. I'd be fine with him dying in a supposed future series but whatever.
They turned Raylan Givens into an OIL DRILLER!? May every last one of the worthless retards who wrote that shit choke to death on their own feces.
Gotta get that ESG score up. We can't have a conservative white male protagonist, and if we do, he has to show he isn't rayciss by fucking a chunky negress.

This has typical netflixitis where its an 8part movie, rather than an 8 episode series. This why there is no villian of the week and so he doesnt get to shoot anyone, and you lose the core element of the gunslinger hero show.

That makes sense, you cant have a white hick cop mowing down black people and you can only contrive so many local whities.

I think it will be enjoyable enough once you get the climax, but it would have been better paced and served and more profitable as a big screen movie.

But atleast he doesnt talk in redneckisms like they all did season 6 of the show.

See, I wouldn't have minded if, say, the lawyer lady (whose name I have no fucking clue about) was as attractive as Deputy US Marshall Rachel Brooks or somebody else attractive.

Instead it's black landwhale lawyer lady.

The show isn't at all engaging. The new bad guy is no Boyd Crowder, and the shit he pulled with Raylan's daughter in episode 2 or whatever should have got him beaten far harder.

I've recently finished the show, as well as the whole 6 seasons of the original over the past months.
A lot of people focus on the black lawyer as a point of why the show really sucks but honestly the one that I found really infuriating was the villain.
  • Zero character or motivation, literally just "I'm crazy and I want to kill shit"
  • Has the god damn shittiest gimmick with the cassette tape that felt like some dipshit on set just listened to Seven Nation Army and thought it was the bestest song evar and that ppl listen to justin babier i listen to metallica
    • Seriously the whole mixtape deal was so dumb and the fact that they ended the character's scenes with him holding one like it was such a powerful image was laughable.
  • All the plot armor he gets, zero fucking intelligence or wit to him he just walks in, kills people and then the plot contrives for him to get away with it and not even in the impactful way like Arlo taking Boyd's place for Devil's death. The thing that got me the most is when the Albanians got his hands on him and they don't even rough him up or beat him up or do onto him what he did to Skender they just stick him in a lavish panic room and don't even have the idea to lock him in by destroying the keypad.
  • The insistence on making this dumbass the foil to Raylan(which he barely is even to this very neutered hollow shell idea of Raylan) to the point where he steals some of Boyd's mannerisms like the "Damn people will think we're in love" line.
Not like anything else in the show was so amazing that dipshit drags the rest of it down
  • Raylan feeling like a vague hollow shell of his former self and more of a tertiary character than anything.
  • Dogshit supporting cast in the law enforcement end
  • Raylan's daughter not knowing how to act
  • the sassy black lawyer and the dipshit bartender with his fruity booty existing solely so they can get on their dipshit soapbox and screech about how black pipo have it hard and not nearly in a charasmatic or entertaining way as any of the Noble's Holler scenes. Bitch can't even get threatened normally by the big bad she has to be all sassy and go FUCK YA MOTHA I DON'T REPRESENT YOU CRACKA
    • I mean jesus these characters can't exist for any other reason or be anything but soapboxes, can they? They can't act well or be funny or intimidating they have to be POWERFUL AND STRONG AND KANGZ AND KUWEENZ even if they are villains or straight up retards.
  • The Albanians as an entire organization being as threatening as Dewey Crowe and I genuinely can't remember any of them beyond Skender for having a funny name
I'm not watching season 2. I don't even want to consider what kind of Boyd Crowder they'll present in that shit.

In the meanwhile I've started to read Elmore Leonard's books. Pronto is actually really good.

As soon as I found out the show was taking place in Detroit, I saw the writing on the wall.

I'm glad to see that I wasn't the only one that thought this was a meandering piece of shit that I dropped off of after 5 episodes. Extremely disappointing.
