Justified is back, baby. This limited series is adapted from Elmore Leonard's novel City Primeval: High Noon in Detroit, which did not originally feature Raylan. It premiered a couple of days ago with the first two episodes, and they're good. Feels just like old times (though there are no returning characters other than Raylan).

Justified is one of my favorite TV series ever, so I'm stoked about this. :)

I'd just finished downloading the first five episodes from EZTV when I noticed this. Love Justified, love Elmore Leonard. Was gutted when the series ended and I'm really happy about the reboot.

I haven't watched the new episodes yet so I can't speak to the quality of them; will wait and watch the whole season once it's out.
However some of the behind the scenes stuff I've seen, as well as the obvious nepotism has given me some reservations.

Hope this mini series is good
Elmore Leonard was a master at dialogue and I miss watching it

Watched the first couple, and while I'm not digging it I'm optimistic. None of the characters are grabbing me, whereas each of the main set had me from their first scenes.

One thing I will say though is that throughout the original series I always had a thought in the back of my head that Raylan was too aloof for all the shit that he got in and the people around him suffered for it, but the final scene of episode two finally had him come this close to acting how a normal person would have when, say, their pregnant baby mama was held at gunpoint.

Watched the first episode. Less pozzed than I feared, more pozzed than I'd like. So far Raylan seems a bit too much like a supporting character than the main focus, at least compared to the original series.
I feel like this is to be expected since he wasn't even in the book it is adapted from.

I dunno, all these "years after the fact" mini series tend to suck. I hope it sucks less than others, but I don't get my hopes up for anything anymore.

He's obviously meant to be the main character but the mini-series looks to be choke full of subplots and a ton of other characters. The original Justified was more like a throwback to the likes of Mannix and Columbo, i.e. a large focus on the leading man rather than an ensemble cast. Though obviously Boyd got more and more screen time as the series went along.

I’m overall enjoying the show and don’t think it’s too filled with woke shit, but it is crazy that the writers want us to believe that Raylan - who slayed blonde bimbos in the original series - is now interested in fat black women who wear weaves.

There are an awful lot of implausibly white criminals in Detroit but that's just mandatory le current year TV shit.

I can't. I didn't even finish episode 4 (with like, 5 minutes left) and didn't pay attention half of the time.

This time, I clocked out about 15 minutes in. I'm done.

This isn't Justified. It's just boring as fuck meandering bullshit.

So far there's nothing like that in this show. I'm not talking about just badass Raylan -- the original Justified's dialogue and characterization was sharp and clever. In City Primeval the writing is just sorta... pedestrian and generic.

What in the good God damn is going on anymore? I know it's a stupid point, but it's an easy example of why this show is shit - Raylan isn't going to even think of banging some fat negress after having somebody like Winona, much less start getting attached. I could forgive that one thing if the plot was decent, but the pace of it is glacial even for a western.

It’s not just the dialogue and characterization, half of Justified was the setting. The Appalachia itself was a character as big if not bigger than Raylan. It was the soul of the show.

Where is this even set? Detroit?

Could be Baltimore or any other inner city, it doesn’t matter and it’s fucking boring.

Yeah fuck this embarassing current-year revival with a perfunctory Raylan lusting after some fat abrasive nigress and fuck the retarded rock star villain too. I watched the first two episodes and to be honest, I was about done by the halfway point of the first. Dialogue sucks, characters suck, Detroilet as a setting for Justified sucks. I think I'm going to rewatch the original run and forget this pile of piss was ever produced.

First episode seemed like total shit. It has that obnoxious blue filter on it that makes the whole show look like ass and I knew that by the halfway point if nobody was getting shot then I'd have zero interest in continuing.

Learning that this wasn't originally Justified related explains everything. Absolute dogshit, and I have zero interest in seeing Raylan or Olyphant try to swallow their pride long enough to fuck a fat black woman.

I'm just going to pretend this doesn't exist. Raylan is happily remarried at the end of the final season and heading out of Appalachia to live with his family. That's all I need.
