Because they're miserable with themselves but figuring out the real reason why and fixing it is too much work so they convince themselves that this surgery will magically fix that.
And when it doesn't and reality sets in they either 41% or latch onto another surgery that will.
Just like fatty knows the gastric bypass will fix their overeating and laziness.
Just like shit artist knows that super expensive tablet will make them a better artist.
Just like wifey knows getting a boob job will stop her husband from cheating.

It's all about quick fixes that require you to change nothing about your broken ass self and will make your life 100% better. Sometimes its ego, sometimes its the fear of facing reality and sometimes its sheer laziness but I'm sure you guys can think of a million other examples where someone thought buying something would change their habits, attitudes or personal view of themselves.
And then when it doesn't work, they find something else or, worst case scenario, give up completely and blame the quick fixes.

Well what gave that away? The fact that Yaniv has beetus and that any doctor, no matter the desperation for money, would look at Yaniv and realize holy shit this dude is a walking talking healthcare liability who will not follow any step of aftercare I tell him to do, or that there's no way those lolsuits would not come up and the doctor would not realize this guy might bait me into doing his surgery, not do any step of aftercare, and then drag me to the human rights tribunal because the hatchetjob epically failed and he wants damages.
