UK Jobseekers who turn down work should be conscripted, says senior Tory MP - Richard Drax suggests that drafting work-shy citizens into the Armed Forces could ease labour crisis

Young people who turn down several jobs should be conscripted for two years, a senior Conservative MP has said.
Richard Drax, a member of the Commons defence select committee, argued younger jobseekers in particular were “not prepared to contribute to our country” and that drafting them into the Armed Forces could ease the worklessness crisis.
More than nine million people of working age have dropped out of the jobs market, with at least five million of those claiming benefits.
In January, Downing Street was forced to rule out conscription after the head of the Army warned that British civilians would need to fight Russia in the event of a war.
Mr Drax, a former Army captain, told The House magazine: “In some cases, particularly among some of the young, they have got to a point where, for whatever reason, they’re not prepared to contribute to our country and to serve their country.
“If they can’t be encouraged to do that, then maybe we’ve got to a point where they should be told to do so.
“And if they’ve refused three offers of a job, or whatever the number would be, and they say ‘I’m sorry, I’m not doing any of that’, you then say – in which case you must go and do two years in the Armed Forces.”

The MP for South Dorset went on to suggest young offenders could have their sentences shortened for good behaviour if they agreed to join the Army.
“Let’s say [a young person] has 10 pints of beer, slugs somebody and is locked up for it,” he said.
“If you get that sort of behaviour, you could, as a magistrate, say to these young men and women ‘you’ve got an option – if you’re a good boy or girl, you’ll come out, but you must do a year in the Armed Forces’.”
Mr Drax acknowledged that his ideas would not be readily accepted, but pointed to the huge number of casualties sustained by Ukrainian forces as proof of the need to bolster the size of the British Army.
The military has been reduced to its smallest size for centuries, prompting General Sir Patrick Sanders, Chief of the General Staff, to warn British citizens to be prepared for a call-up if Nato went to war with Russia in comments that were promptly rejected by Downing Street.
Only seven per cent of those aged between 18 and 40 would volunteer for military service if a third world war broke out, YouGov polling found earlier in the year, rising to 11 per cent if the UK was under “imminent threat of invasion”.
In the first scenario, a further 21 per cent said they would not volunteer but would serve if called up, a number which increased to 23 per cent if the UK faced imminent threat.

Richard Drax, full name Richard Grosvenor Plunkett-Ernle-Erle-Drax, is from the ancient aristocratic landowning family the Baronetcy of Dunsany; the second oldest peerage in Ireland, created 1462, aka one of the families responsible for the Great Famine. His great-uncle was Lord Dunsany, one of the early fantasy writers. Richard served as a Coldstream Guard, the personal bodyguards to Elizabeth II.
They were also a major slaveowning family in the colonies, were paid off to free all their slaves but still own all the plantations; afaik he is the only person to actually have Reparations demanded off him - Bermuda is suing him to the right to the plantations as he / his family have still been earning off them the entire time.
The Draxes have now pivoted into climate friendly business, rewilding their estates etc, but he keeps getting into trouble.
Workers in his wood pellet burning power station took him to court on charges the wood dust was giving them respiratory conditions, but the charges were dropped.
More recently there have been several pay strikes from workers. Coincidentally, Drax bought a bunch of robot dogs to perform safety patrols around the stations.

They've named this one Sparky.

Drafting a bunch of hooligans and welfare refugees sounds like such a great idea.

These people have no work ethic, and need something to scare them into attempting to get a job.
Could be because having a job sucks. Trust me, if I could live without having to work then I would. At the very least don't ask me to feel grateful for the fact I have to waste a substantial percentage of my limited time on this Earth on this crap.

The problem with this "work ethic" rhetoric is that we don't manufacture anything anymore. We're a post-industrial society where most people's main role as economic units is as consumers, not workers. I'm convinced most people's jobs these days are just makework designed to keep them busy because we haven't figured out anything else to do with them. What's the point of having a work ethic when you're not actually producing anything of value?

“And if they’ve refused three offers of a job, or whatever the number would be, and they say ‘I’m sorry, I’m not doing any of that’,
So now they will simply say they'll take the job, and actively niggerize the workplace until they get fired.

“Let’s say [a young person] has 10 pints of beer, slugs somebody and is locked up for it,”
... we then disqualify such people with poor judgement and conduct from joining the armed forces... right?

It would be ironic if this backfired and caused the population to become significantly more isolationist and patriotic.

I thought it was 274 Orcs dying for each glorious martyr sacrificing themselves for the mansions Zelensky bought holy motherland?

This was actually a plot line on the British comedy show "Yes Minister".

I guess the question is what would the British army do with a bunch of extra dumbasses who can't get a job?

Russia would withdraw from the Donbass immediately if they knew BIG BAZZA and the rest of the Norf F.C. supporters club were being drafted and given weapons. Especially if they were also being taught which end points towards the enemy.

I say do it. I grew up in an area of dole-wallowing, lazy chav smackhead scumbags. Get them into national service, make it a separate arm of the Armed Forces and have them contribute to society.

They'll learn a skill and help out the country, be carrying out defence tasks or repairing roads, removing graffiti etc.

Any that are too chavvy or too retarded or too dark can be sent directly to Ukraine. IF we're going to send people to the meat grinder, it should people that would fit in on the Jeremy Kyle show.

Fuck chavvy fuckheads and stinking foreigners. Send them to the frontlines.

Update the Lord Kitchener poster to say "YOUR COUNTRY DOESN'T NEED YOU" (so it's sending you to die on the front lines.)

That would actually be fucking based. It'd get rid of all the coffin dodgers cluttering up the country and mean I might be able to get a fucking doctor's appointment for once.
Based on my dad's experience, they can't get appointments either. Nobody can. He got a shitty nurse who refused to treat him, with the claim that giving him antibiotics to treat an infection would "make him resistant". I've got to go around later today and convince him to try again, because he's apparently given up and gone to bed.

I worked in the UK.
You'll have a lot of good for nothing Abdulahs and Mahmuds shitting up the army showers if you're going through with this.
Surely the barely literate, out of shape, arrogant and spiteful desert savages will prove a formidable fighting force. At the fucking buffet table, maybe.

I guess the Russian strategy of drafting prisoners and vagrants to kill them off in Donbas meat waves could get rid of a lot of workshies and "Asian" migrants as well. Declare war on Argentina or something and you're golden.
