But the media wanted us to focus on Girls.

The medea movies draw in large audiences for their budget. No one has talked about trying to make a Madea movie be more mainstream.....wonder why that is?

The scene's in the end have more in common with movements from Fidel Castro, Lenin, and Che Guerro than some kind of neo-nazi army of right wing paramilitary folks. Watching Arthur being swept up along the way to the end where he dances like Charlie Chaplain on the hood of a police car is an eerie sight. The dark silohette of him as the King of Madness right until the movie dials it back right into where he's sitting in the room. The red footprints as he walks down the hall in the last scene....

Every single death I jumped at, it was startling, it was abrupt, it was horrific. When murray got his brain slushie served I went "Holy SHIT!" out loud. You KNEW it was coming but you've never SEEN the way it's been portrayed.

This movie is a call for better mental health care more than anything else and the danger's associated with letting the poor's die off in the street ALA The Purge.

8/10 Would see it again. Natural Born Killers meets Taxi Driver. You could've ripped out all the DC/Joker shit and still been an interesting movie.

I don't think anyone intends for there to be a sequel. They even said if there is one, no Batman. So I really doubt it. There's a lot going around with 'The End' at the end of the movie is that's it, its finished.

While I'd really love to see Phoenix as a full-fledged Joker, Phoenix basically only did it because no one has the balls to make Taxi Driver or anything like that anymore. Phoenix isn't the type to go into mainstream comic movies. The only reason he even did it was because Todd Philips pitched it to him to sneak a real movie in under the disguise of a superhero movie.

I just don't see Joker t unless they offer Phoenix a dump truck full of money. They could however make a sidequel and incorporate the new Batman with this Joker origin. Or another villain.

Yeah I read more of it. This poor guy suffered from schizophrenia and spent most of his adult life homeless. Died at age 56 from pneumonia.

I would like this movie to spread awareness of this guy. To be honest, I didn't know who he was and I agonized over the song reference when Arthur was talking about hearing it on the radio. It's probably too late for him, but more people should know who he is, both for his music and his struggle with his mental problems.

They'd have a point if Arthur (I dont' know if this happened because I haven't yet watched the movie) had said "wow, don't you see I'm a man and white? Where is my free money and opportunities?" before he shot someone.

Part of me really hopes they don't make a sequel. A standalone film holds up the best. If they DID make a sequel though, a gritty, serious, non-deadpoolish introduction to Harley would be neat, if only to see how anyone could fall in love with this crazy bastard.

I remember back when Logan came out I was hoping that it would create a new wave of superhero movies; we wouldn't just have the family friendly MCU, but movies that would actually challenge us emotionally and maybe intellectually.

Two years later, that hasn't happened. Instead we got a deluge of MCU shit. Joker is the only serious comic book movie to have come out since then.
