Game Dev's Switch 2 Initial Impressions but loses it playing Mario Kart World

(YT Link)

Jerrel is VERY BUSY but has taken time out of his day to give his impressions of the Switch 2, which he wasn't going to buy right on launch day originally but did anyways! Before getting into his initial impressions, time to recap how Jerrel is not only a true and honest game developer, he's also involved with industry work relating to consulting and education and public speaking.

He's very busy with work, finalizing new contracts, and only used the Switch for a few hours (though he managed to put out 3 videos yesterday).

It's important to understand that Jerrel is NOT interested in likes and subscribers. He's sure you know how YouTube works and he's not here for popularity. This is all about funny skits and laughs and he hopes you'll stick around to laugh with him.

Games look better on Switch 2. That includes his games, but he doesn't want to talk about those games he developed, when you are a games developer you get sick of looking the games you put thousands of hours into creating, so he's definitely not going to spend time mentioning his own games, it's not like he'd derail the video to talk about being a game developer. When he steps away from his work (of being a game developer) he'd rather do something other than work.

He wants us to share in the Mario Kart experience together. He boots it up and selects "Grand Pricks." Mario looks excited!

Looking through the characters he's impressed at the variety. Chooses Pokey on a motorcycle. This is extremely charming. He has a long giggle fit when he realizes the character can twist 180 degrees while driving.

He's having so much fun he's not paying attention to the race! He's lost all professionalism! He'll have to have his friends come over and play, because this is great. Some observations:

• Volumetric lighting looks great. It conveys a sense of depth in the atmosphere. There can be particles, pollutants and uh moisture in the atmosphere. Those in the industry call this depth fog. Or, height fog actually. It's not really fog, that's just what those in the biz call it. For instance, the mountains fade into the color of the sky. This makes it more realistic; not that this game is aiming for realism, but it makes you think it's not just a fake 3D world.

• He wants to take a day off from his BUSY schedule just to play Mario Kart and freely roam all the worlds.

• He likes the addition of homeless Shy Guys sleeping on the bench. It would be fun to use one of the items on them, like a flamethrower. Not because he's an anarchist but just to test it out. The good thing about the world of Mario Kart is that there's no hostile architecture, most cities have hostile architecture to keep homeless people from sleeping on the benches

• Fails a minigame where you have to collect blue coins in a certain amount of time. Can't find the last coin.

• Changes characters. He has a hilarious name for Dry Bones that he always uses with his friends, but he's not going to say it right now, he's going to be professional and keep this mostly family friendly. But it's a hilarious name!

• He has so much work to get done but he'd like to analyze the clouds from a technical perspective and figure out what method of implementation they use–THE WATER. THE WATER IS WIDE!

• The price tag (120 Australian dollars) bothered him but he can tell he's going to play it so much that it doesn't bother him any more.

• Clouds are a static image. It's disappointing that they're not volumetric real time clouds, but that's understandable for a game like this, fancy clouds are more for Zelda.

He ends the video by not asking you to like or subscribe, call your parents instead! Tell them you love them and organize a lunch with them. Okay, so not everyone has a good relationship with their parents. At least try and forgive them for whatever they did - but if you can, call them and take them out to lunch.

Then he announces it's time for a coffee break before he gets back to developing games and taking important business calls.

He's very busy with work, finalizing new contracts, and only used the Switch for a few hours (though he managed to put out 3 videos yesterday).
"Contracts" like promise to to rescue now dead CWCville into his universe of S grade games and his supreme knowledge of gaming industry

This shit is so funny to me. He's a professional in everything. There are people younger than him that WRITE BETTER STUFF THAN HE EVEN FUCKING DOES. I was laughing my ass off once he made it a grift cancer death story for his so called "dark themed pokemon entry" plot line. Somehow mentions Hitler in the first 5 mins? He says the protags friend got infected because the enemy team was using paint that's poisonous; lead paint exposure = CANCER.
Plus he and his braindead 10 simps of Grandeur reporting are abusing the report system to attack a channel (the goat STONEMAN) that reposts funny shit of him that's public. Fuck you Jerrel Dicklay.

Excellent OP and thread. I had no idea that this nimrod even had a YouTube presence.

I also thought that Sungrand was a Korean or other Asian company (for reasons given below) and was surprised to see that the guy is an Australian.

I have some further information about Mr. Dulay's online fuckery during 2013 - 2020.

During this time he assiduously uploaded ultra-low effort shovelware onto Google's app store (which was utterly unmoderated at the time and thus full of adware, malware and total dross). This man was so prolific that the userbase awarded him the epithet of "One of Google's Three Kings of Shit". (The other 2 were Playgendary(Korea, adware) and Cheetah Productivity(?Hong Kong, malware-infested rubbish).

In about 2020 antivirus developers started flagging Google Play Store as a PUP (I also vaguely remember that some governments were threatening to block access to it), which led to Google purging the worst offenders and instituting a perfunctory virus scan of all submissions. (Make no mistake, that storefront is still a cesspit).

I kind of assumed that Sungrand went bankrupt along with the other two offenders. (Playgendary imploded and Cheetah disappeared). I was wrong(checked after I saw this thread .

It seems that Dulay initially dumped his waste onto a lot of free software repositories, then turned his attention to the Nintendo Switch store, where he ported them. If I look at his pricing there the man has become even more brazen.

Some of Mr. Dulay's "games":

Sungrand Shovelware 1.jpg

More detail on one:

Sungrand Shovelware 2.jpg

The 0.8 below the title is a score out of 10, awarded by users of the site.

Please note that the description is the work of Mr. Dulay, is obviously a lot of shite, and says more about him than the game.

These "games" are only accessible on Apkpure by specifically searching for the developer.

This is due to Apkpure's method of dealing with rubbish. If anything receives a large number of ratings with a mean of <1.5, it gets walled off after some months. If no further downloads occur it will be deleted after several years.

I also noticed that all this software also has a signature mismatch, which basically means Dulay got another dev to sign them. Why this is I don't know, but I strongly recommend against trying them out.

I'll end this with a common review these things used to routinely get:

DO NOT PLAY
DO NOT DOWNLOAD
NOT WORTH THE DATA
NOT WORTH THE POWER
(EVEN IF YOU STEAL BOTH)

Our boy is working on a new game and has launched a Kickstarter. Goobuddies. This isn't just some "my first unity project" crap, this is by his own admission his dream game!

Screenshot 2025-11-24 000026.png

Ignore the funny currency, he's asking for 7k Australian, about 4500 US dollars. He has raised 2206 Australian (1425 USD) right now and with 27 backers it's about 81 Australian or 52 US dollars per person. 2 people paid for the 380 AUD (245 USD) which lets them submit a drawing of a goobuddy to be made into a character for the game. He certainly has his diehards, or just his mom wanting to support him. Seems like he raised what he got all at once and now it seems a little dead, but we'll see.

You'd think someone who went through a disastrous launch of his game where it was completely broken and when he tried to fix it he broke it even more and then blamed Nintendo for sabotaging him, would be a little more thoughtful when it comes to the potential risks to a game project.

This is the quality what working 16 hours a day for months on end by a seasoned professional will give you. He'll take the quickest showers you've ever seen just so he can get back to writing that darn code.

You know, if you need to work 16 hours a day (doubt), and also post on youtube once or even twice a day, just to scrape by while some 19 year old without much of an education can make more than you while working fewer hours at at the local grocery store, maybe you just suck at your self employed job and you'd provide more value to society doing something else.

This guy is way too old to not have 4,500 dollars and instead has to beg for it. Also, that game looks like a shitty mobile game.

Some guy just mentions his meltdown from a few months ago and he comes out with a wall of text discussing his secret master plan. Apparently he managed to get his buddies to "tone down their hate speech" and that was his mission all along. A trojan horse to get the chuds to be nicer to troons. I don't know what this has to do with defending Nintendo at all costs but we can't all be strategic geniuses like Jerrel.

Screenshot 2025-12-10 131301.png
This is more or less what he told Harmful Opinions in DMs and wanted "off the record" (before having him agree to having anything off the record, lol). I wonder how the people he called friends feel knowing he was just using and manipulating them.

Now in reality Jerrel just wants attention since he's a failed dev and doesn't have anything else. He'll change his story whenever it's convenient so don't put too much stock in his master plan. When Asmongold gave him a little boost, he jumped on the bandwagon to try and get as much out of it as possible. The only thing he won't give up is his undying love for Nintendo.

In other news, Goobuddies isn't doing too great. The kickstarter pretty much stalled out halfway despite him shilling it in every video. Can't believe it will fail. It had so much potential with the uh... well it's a same.

Screenshot 2025-12-10 131342.png

An interesting (as interesting as Jerrel can be) thing I found is that on the third of December, he seems to have privated or deleted a bunch of videos amounting to negative 3.6 million views. You can see on social blade that the day before he had -51 videos. So 3.2 mil divided by 51 is 62 745 views per video deleted. I tried having a look at the way back machine to see if I could find an archive of his videos but I only got a little snippet and nothing was missing there.

Screenshot 2025-12-11 164937.png

He has a history of deleting videos so not something new, but this is a real chunk out of his total views and visibility online. Considering the views, it seems like it was from his time grifting off the Asmongold and anti-woke types, so roughly videos made in the past year.

Not something significant but figured I'd just leave a note about this for posterity.

Goobuddies reminds me of Squisherz, the Pokémon knock-off in Hypnospace Outlaw.

It seems like the kickstarter reached its goal, all you naysayers are blown the fuck out and Jerrel reigns supreme.

However... something doesn't add up. If we look at the backers at the different tiers, we can multiply the tier price with how many got that level and then see if it all adds up to. So the math goes like this (Australian dollars),

7 x 380 = 2660
8 x 150 = 1200
67 x 32 = 2144
1 x 10 = 10
5 x 2 = 10

The sum of all tiers 2660 + 1200 + 2144 + 10 + 10 = 6024 Australian dollars.

Total raised on Kickstarter = 7062
7062 - 6024 = 1038 dollars unaccounted for.

So we have 1038 AUD or about 687 USD unaccounted for. That's a little strange. Looks like a backer over-paid by a ridiculous amount just in the nick of time to save the Kickstarter. A little sus. Is this something Jerrel himself did in order to get that bread? Does he have a delusional whale? Borrowed the credit card of another cancer friend?

(numbers may have slightly changed between doing the math and taking screenshot)

There are two possibilities, if AU$380 was the top tier (nothing above it).

1. The King of Shit has truly turned over a new leaf and is now beyond reproach. In this case, it is possible that several donations exceeded this sum by various amounts, eg. a AUS$450 dono would also be counted as being top tier despite exceeding the minimum. The sum of such excesses could well be sufficient to bring the funding over the line.

2. Jerrel Dulay is the very same mendacious bastard he has always been. In this case, should he have been confronted with an inactive kickstarter sitting at just below the line with time getting short, he may well have decided to organize some "capping" and so secure his possession of a fat wad of Other People's Money™. This conduct is unfortunately rather common in the scummier parts of the crowdfunding scene.

Unfortunately you can only certainly know that this happened by having observed the behaviour of the Kickstarter in real time at the end of its run, where organic funding appears as a steady creep across the goal, and capping as little or nothing happening followed by a sudden jump over the goal.

I will leave it to the reader to decide which of the two scenarios outlined above is more likely.

There exist rabble who are very experienced in the art of parting fools from their money on Kickstarter and IndieGoGo, and who are eager to offer assistance to dodgy "entrepreneurs" and "inventors" who flourish in this risk-free environment. Such fine chaps style themselves as "Crowdfunding Consultants" and no, their services are not free.

Shit that these arseholes get up to include propaganda (bots hyping your crap up on Twatter, conventional online ads if you're willing to splash out), market manipulation of your fundraiser and other bullshit like SEO which is probably a waste of money.

The financial tricks are mostly "capping" and "salting".

I explained capping above.

Kickstarter used to not care if you capped your own project, but a few years ago they changed their policy. These days you will have your project yanked if they catch you doing this (AFAIK this rule still applies).

This is where the abovementioned "consultants" lend a hand - they will cap your fundraiser for you if funding is above a certain percentage of the target.

Salting is slightly more complicated and intended for those who are trying to get a good chunk of money out.

The process involves identifying a period of relatively high donation volume and interest in the project, then increasing the donor number rapidly with multiple low-level donations from numerous different accounts. The intention here is both to move the project up in Kickstarter's rankings and encourage donations by people already on its page by making said project seem "hot" - this is a kind of hype-driven marketing.

Salting is more an attempt at psychological manipulation by financial means than a purely financial technique.

The people who offer these services are scum and the services are tailored to the needs of morally bankrupt individuals who are fluent liars and view crowdfunding as just another way to make bank.

Our boy Jerrel has launched a new game! Woohoo! I'm sure Jerrel is rolling in Benjamins as we speak. Let's check how it's going.

Screenshot 2026-03-16 192845.png
Hm 10 dollars? That's a little steep.

Screenshot 2026-03-17 010810.png
Oh... Oh no.

Better luck next time, Sport.

Because Jerrel fucked up the steam submission for Linux, he put it out on Itch for free so I grabbed it and ripped the files out of it to have a peak under the hood.

I love looking at the meshes because it's so obvious when Jerrel made something himself and when he just downloaded an asset from somewhere. Now there is a difference in artistic quality that is massive, but the technical components of the assets is night and day.

This is pretty amusing since Jerrel likes to do his little rants about how he can improve other games, but seeing that he doesn't even know basic topology is very funny. It's like 3D modeling 101 and shows he hasn't bothered to even learn the most basic fundamentals.

Here are two models from the game, one by Jerrel and one obviously from somewhere else. In Jerrel's the topology makes no sense and is way overkill for the super simple shape that it is. It also doesn't have supporting loops for joints so when it is animated, it will deform poorly.

The second one he must have downloaded from somewhere because it's fundamentally built differently. You can tell that it was originally built from a mix of quads and a few tris (game engines convert things to triangles but good topology is built on quads/squares). It is actually low poly because it wasn't just blasted with the sculptris reduce brush the way Jerrel does it. The model is kind of too low poly to animate well, but that's probably intentional to make it look retro. Night and day difference.

Screenshot 2026-03-16 195839.pngScreenshot 2026-03-16 200009.png

Also he reuses tons of assets from his old Breath of Thunder game that failed on Kickstarter a few years ago. Like all the characters are the same, same 3D mesh, just recolored.

Also some models are just funny, like this floor1 model that has uh... a few more polygons than I think it needs, lmao. It's just a square, no need to complicate it.
Screenshot 2026-03-17 001553.png

Let me present to you, the heaviest model in the game. The Slime! 4812 triangles. That's about the same as Gordon Freeman in Half-Life 2, Soldier from Unreal Tournament and the Marines in Halo CE. All for a blob. Now this game probably runs fine because there was no effort put into it, so there's not really anything demanding. It's just funny to see this "pro" game artist make the shittiest stuff you've ever seen.
Screenshot 2026-03-17 001900.png
Just as an ultra basic example: I ripped the model and quickly did a retopology in like 5 minutes and we have the same result but with less than 1/10th the polygons. For what the game is, there won't be a problem animating any of this. Jerrel doesn't seem to know that this is an actual industry standard technique. I've looked at a bunch of his streams where he tries to make models and he seems to be oblivious to it.
Screenshot 2026-03-17 005036.png

All the animation files are from mixamo which are free online animations and auto-rigs that all shovel ware devs use. It's supposed to be just to help prototype stuff but people who can't animate or rig rely on it. This is why Jerrel's Silver Falls games have super out of place animations, he just doesn't know how to do basic animations himself.

One of the crazy things is just how little content there seems to be in this game. I think there are like a handful of enemies in the game but outside of 2 assets he took from somewhere, they're just blobs. The maps seem to just be recolors of the environment.

He's selling it for PC, but "Controller only, playing with a mouse and keyboard is not supported" (A warning I've never even seen on Steam before).

Is this maybe a port of one of his old console releases? It isn't listed on Nintendo, Sony or MS-Xbox's storefronts under that specific title, but I didn't look at all his rubbish games (The title is bad even by ESL standards and it could just be some shit he made up on the spot as part of a rebranding).

I absolutely concur that the price is far too high, even for the little he promises.

Note:
There are 3 reviews, none of whose authors have played the game for more than 2 hours, all glazing Mr. Jerrel Dulay and proclaiming that the "game" is highly entertaining. Allow me to doubt that this shit is genuine and not paid for.

So this is in some ways a port of his failed Kickstarter Breath of Thunder from 2024. Main difference was that he changed the combat system to be a real-time mess. The character models are the same and I think they're all from some asset he bought forever ago. The character models are split up into individual body parts and he just recolors them for the characters. Animations are all free assets from Mixamo, file names still say "mixamo" on them lol. But basically this is a new release, he's just an unhinged console fanboy and never touches PC gaming.

Being "the last 3DS dev" is the most attention he has ever gotten for his games, that's his strategy, to stand out by being the only fish in a small pond. He's also very protective about it. Nothing is stopping him form publishing his old games on Steam but he refuses to. He pretends he has an agreement with Nintendo but indie devs that aren't actually published by nintendo and are free to release it on other platforms. He just knows there's no financial point in doing it and more people will see what a fraud he is.

I don't think Jerrel has a proper PC. He has bragged about his "work rig" being super powerful but his excuse as to why he can't play modern games is that he just doesn't have enough storage on it because it's full of work stuff. More likely is that he just has shitty second hand laptops that can't play any modern games.

This is the same reason he refuses to update to a newer version of Unity and calls it too slow. You'd only notice significant slowdown if your PC is old as fuck. I also think this is why he uses discontinued software like sculptress, his laptop can't run anything else like Blender and he's too broke to afford ZBrush.

I think we all underestimate how much of consumer slop life he lives. He doesn't make much, willing to bet his rent is subsidized by some old person he knows and he only spends his money on cheap stuff from ali express.
