The Nutshack is an American animated sitcom created by Ramon Lopez & Jesse Hernandez which aired on Myx TV in the United States and Myx in the Philippines. The first animated series geared towards a Filipino American audience, the series featured the voice of Filipino American comedian Rex Navarrete. The Nutshack follows Filipino American San Francisco native Phil, whose cousin Jack flies in from the Philippines to live with him in the Tenderloin district of the city. It first aired in 2007, with its second season airing in 2011.[1][2][3] Unlike the first season, the second season is censored for unexplained reasons.

There were only two seasons, only the first to be released on DVD.

The show had a bit of attention when a channel called The Nutshack Archive began reuploading all the episodes and whatever else could be found related the show. The channel is still finding more content to upload. The Nutshack gained a much larger cult following after the parodic meme channel SiivaGunner made several remixes of The Nutshack theme with other video game tracks.

The Nutshack intro has started a meme that's gotten attention within the SiivaGunner fanbase, where the intro is played with whatever effect is available, an effect increases after every "Nutshack", or every noun/"Nutshack" in the intro is replaced with (usually the entirety) of another source. Some users are nutty enough to make these stretch on for hours upon hours.

I remember this show. it was painful and I'm pretty sure I have repressed memories of it like I do every other TV show I seem to have mostly forgotten about.

I was there for the first and only livestream when there were two silvagunner livestreams running at once and Both were just playing a countdown to the livestream for hours until one of them just started playing the nutshack in response to people wondering what the fuck was going on. Shit was magical.

Oh, Myx. They're the ones that do kpop and dramas and stuff, right? I get them on cable. I've seen some spoopy HK comedies on there I think.

i'm so glad i put it in the synchtube for everyone to enjoy

i wonder if the creators of the show ever responded to the criticism the show has received? i know they did a season 1 retrospective video but that wasn't really in response to anyone else.
i just checked out the animator's vimeo, and holy shit. his 2014 portfolio includes scenes from the nutshack. stuff that was animated as far back as 2006. there also seems to be very little improvement, if any. i think they're still proud of it.

I've been told that The Nutshack Archive got a hold of all the episodes just by contacting one of the creators, so I get the feeling they don't care to publicly acknowledge their mistake too much.

i almost want to talk to one of the creators and ask them what they were thinking. not in a derogatory or mocking way, i just feel like there's a part of me that needs to know why this was made.

I found it through Annotated Experiments youtube channel. At first I thought it was a pilot that didn't get picked up.

There were more annotations but a guy under the name of adobo tried to take them down. Kinda shameful because the annotations are what made the thing watchable but then again, the show itself is still crap.

Part of the reason the show could of been made was making some animation done by Asian Americans. That is what this show was touted as, the first Asian-American cartoon that aimed to be raunchy. Really though, there are no doubt other reasons why this was made, even though it turned out to be nothing more than a crappy cartoon that looks like it came from early to mid 2000's Newgrounds.

that's exactly what the animation reminds me of, holy shit. there are poorly made porn games from 2003 with better animation than the nutshack.
and the fact that the show was meant to be raunchy is another reason it sucked so bad- they forced the raunchiness to the point where it was annoying, predictable, and obviously just for shock value, just because they could.

It's amazing the skipped this part though. You'd figure someone this against others making fun of their (shitty) work would take down the whole thing. But apparently not.

Not only did it have the look of an early flash video, it was released in the late 2000's. Season 2 was basically released around or not long before you had other flash based cartoons that had better animation. The raunchiness in this thing is always going to be a dick joke or a sex joke that might elicit a giggle from a teenager. @LagoonaBlue had one of the characters as an avatar. Said character in an episode could highlight how bad it all is. Just look up the "booty clap" if one wanted an idea of how this was.

It could of been one of the people that worked on this thing or it could of been a random guy who took it down because he's a Nutshack fan or just doesn't like Annotated Series.
