Is food tasting funny? - For the subhumans who eat precooked meals.

Does preserved precooked taste different

I don't think so. I had a steak for dinner and I didn't even laugh once.

yeah because pre cooked shit will never be as good as cooking from scratch and actually knowing what is in your food

Bought a pizza from papa johns today. The crust tasted like a foaming agent had been put in it, something to make the dough go way farther than it should have had. I had a similar experience with bread at a sandwich place a few days before.

Can't speak for Costco, as I gave-up my membership a couple of years ago, but fast food has definitely plummeted. I used to be a big fan of Panda Express' orange chicken, but they changed it to the point that I was forced into the honey chicken. Which was really good up until about a year ago. Now, I can't eat either, as they have the consistency of slimy gummy bears (and I HATE gummy bears). I even bought a bottle of PE-branded honey chicken sauce from Publix just to see what it tastes like "raw" and it was awful.

Also got a Pizza Hut plain cheese pizza six months ago and couldn't finish it, so I gave it to the squirrels (I used to LOVE Pizza Hut). Also tried the chicken sandwich from Chicken Guy a few weeks ago and it was a chore getting through, with the mac & cheese being utterly inedible. The last fries I got from Wendy's were alabaster white and the chicken sandwich tasted like it had been microwaved for a month.

The guy who runs TheReportOfTheWeek YouTube channel has been complaining about the decline of fast food for awhile now and I believe it. I live in practically a fast food mecca and it's getting more and more difficult choosing where to eat.

Check for palm oil. I'm eating a lot less of what I used to because palm oil grease is almost as unpleasant as coconut oil.

I sometimes eat a banana and then i think
"HAHAHA!! IM LIKE THE CLOWN FROM SPACE STATION 13!!"

It sounds like the usual case of corpos shaving a few more cents by reducing the quality to even worse depths than imagined.

Well, I can't trust TheReportOfTheWeek anymore, apparently. Tried the new Papa John's pizza and it was Godawful. Choked thru one slice and gave up. I don't like throwing that much food away in the house, so I let the birds and squirrels poison themselves.

It's just getting worse and worse here. I'm now down to four fast-food places that are in the realm of edible - Chick-Fil-A, Domino's (for the chicken, not the pizza), McDonald's (believe it or not), and Fazoli's. And I hear Chick-Fil-A is changing their chicken, so God only knows if their quality will last. I've written-off Panda Express, Taco Bell, Wendy's (almost - still go there from time to time), Arby's, and all the "individually owned" pizza joints. I also have a Burger King, but the last time I ordered online, they were literally completely out of everything once I got to the store, so it turned into a corporate donation.

I suppose I should expand my culinary horizons, but I'm old and my tastebuds don't like change. To exacerbate matters, a lot of these "fast-food" eateries have skyrocketed in price to the point that I might as well drive to a sit-down restaurant.

Everything is going down in quality though you get charged more. Only good thing about this is that I now cook even more than I use to as restaurants are far to costly and most are worse than what I can make without putting much thought or effort into it.

No, but I only get them from a local grocery store that prepares everything on site fresh, using their own ingredients. They have a great meatloaf and some excellent cabbage rolls among other things. There's another regional one by me that has excellent soups.

Infinitely better than fast food or DoorDash during or after a long workday. When it comes to cooking, grilling is what I like so during the late fall and winter tend to go a lot simpler.

I think food is tasting a lot worse lately. This is something I've noticed the past couple of months. It makes me wonder if a lot of food quality has gone down.

Ehh it was starting to taste funny but it wasn't long before I realized that eating jim carrey just wasn't worth it. He's just too stringy and lean to cook properly

But yeah, the frozen pizzas are definitely getting worse and thats saying something. I got a bunch for $1 each the other day and tried one last night. Couldn't eat it, the crust was literally like it was made out of a sponge and the cheese wouldn't melt at all no matter what temperature I had it at or how long it was in the oven. Cheese I might add, that even the dog sniffed a couple times and refused to eat. a dog that is obsessed with cheese and will come running out of nowhere the moment she hears a cheese slice being unwrapped. No red flags there at all. If the dog won't eat the cheese thats reason enough for me not to
