Indonesia Jails Christan Governor because quoted Quran - How Very Moderate of Them

The current Christian Jakarta governor got charged with blasphemy despite prior alleviated charges. They have now taken hold of him and is sentenced to jail for 2 years.

And Indonesia was supposed to be one of the "Moderates" when it came to Islam.

Ahok had the misfortune of being part of two groups that Indonesian kebabs regularly enjoying beheading for sport: Christians and ethnic Chinese. It didn't help that it was an election year and he was running against a Muslim, so there was extra incentive for the courts to find against him so that they could restore the governorship to a more acceptable candidate.

It is very interesting though (and it speaks a lot for the Indonesian people) that as a Chinese Kafir, he and Jokowi (now the national President and a nominal Muslim) won the gubernatorial popular vote in 2014 in a massive city with an electorate estimated to be more than 90% Muslim.

There are some truly horrifying Islamic groups in Indonesia, but by and large, these pass straight by the vast majority of people (all 300+ million of them).
