How expensive is it to be as fat as Amberlynn?

The cost of clothing, food and wear and tear on the car have all been ably discussed. It costs a lot of money to be as fat as Amberlynn and Becky.

It is also such an environmental middle finger to the rest of the world. It would be hard for any environmentally moral person to maintain such a lifestyle. It's not just the horrible mental image of Amberlynn and Becky standing next to people in developing nations, who survive starvation conditions through war, famine, and governmental malfeasance, explaining that they try and try but they just can't stop cramming high calorie foods down their throats every hour or so. That alone should be enough incentive for anyone who isn't a complete piece of shit to analyze their life and try to feel what a poverty-level third world citizen thinks of their inability to fight the Binge Monster. Of course we can't send starving people food we don't eat but we can engage in awareness so that we understand our gluttony is a slap in the face of every world citizen who just wants enough to survive. Such thoughts never occur to Amber.

It goes so much deeper than just understanding how a body so fat is a sign of self-absorbed, pathological indulgence. Think of how much more gas it costs for two women who I am all but certain now weigh a combined 900 pounds to drive from point A to point B, compared to two normal weight women. How cold does it need to be in Chez Gay for Amber to feel comfortable wearing her stealth cardigans during the summer? How much time and gasoline do they burn driving around all day for meals and snacks rather than buying groceries and preparing meals at home.

How much healthy food does Amber buy and let rot because the siren song of Taco Bell or orange chicken was too much to ignore. World resources went into planting, growing and shipping that food, all gone to waste (American food waste in general is shocking but it's so much worse with the obese who routinely let cravings dictate every meal yet still buy staples they know they probably won't eat). All that junk Amber buys is generally overpackaged and creates so much trash. I wonder how many food wrappers she tosses daily, how many waxy cups and plastic sporks. How much landfill space does each extra hundred pounds on her frame devour? The agriculture that supports fast food chains is some of the most heinous shit ever, especially the animal husbandry elements.

And we aren't even into the medical costs of such obesity but we will be before long because neither Amber nor Becky have health insurance. Super morbidly obese people consume medical resources in a way that no healthy person can understand. A cellulitis-related organ failure can require months of recovery in the hospital and later rehab. Look at Tammy Slaton and how many times she has nearly died from common ailments then requiring physical rehab. Chance Carmichael boasted of having to relearn how to walk several times after catastrophic health issues. Simply Sara spent weeks in a medically induced coma when she developed pneumonia. These people were all in their 20s when their ill health began due to their massive obesity and hospitals had to scramble to find ways to keep them alive in the face of crushing medical costs or the tax payer footed the bill. Amber's days are numbered before she begins the downward spiral into costing millions of dollars to recover from terrible illness.

The lost human potential is also a great economic cost. Not everyone is going to set the world on fire but obesity of the kind killing AL ensures people cannot work or engage in meaningful hobbies, volunteer work or even basic family life. Amberlynn's entire life revolves around food - how to get it, when to eat it, will she be able to eat what she wants when she wants, feeling disgust and wanting to change and having a new final binge every other day, fighting over food, celebrating with food. Her life is eating and there is literally nothing else aside from the occasional macabre fashion show. AL is not brilliant. She's not even clever beyond a sort of animal cunning that keeps her in caretakers. But even she could have done more with her life than this.

This may all seem very niggling, because these are problems that plague most capitalist, Western nations. We all are wasteful to some degree. We all engage in exploitation when we buy fast food or fast fashion. Plenty of people live in places where they have to use a lot of energy resources to be able to tolerate the climate. But eventually there will come a reckoning and Amber is a bellwether of the eventual real world costs of morbid and super morbid obesity. We all live lifestyles that could support several people in developing nations, if resource allocations were at all fair. But very few of us consume resources that could support several Westerners. Amberlynn does. She weighs as much as five average sized women. She is costing the planet a lot to sustain her and in 20 years she won't even be an oddity or an outlier.

I dunno' assuming she eats out once a day and spends 30 bucks between her and becky, times seven, is 210 a week. That's like 810 a month. That's an entire families budget between two girls. Actually, that's more than an entire families budget between two people.

I can't remember which video it was but at some point AL showed a receipt and said the meal for the two of them was 'only' $60 and something about how that wasn't bad, so I think they're likely spending a bit more than we think. per meal. It wouldn't be surprising really, when you consider that AL often orders jumbo portions and extra sides and things.

Unhealthy food tends to be cheaper than healthy food, sure, but if we're discussing the issue of obesity: obesity comes from caloric intake, not nutritional value. If you eat 1200 calories of chocolate you will lose the same amount of weight as if you'd eaten 1200 calories of raw vegetables. There are other health arguments that can be made, obviously, but obesity is not one of them. Weight gain/loss is strictly a matter of quantity, not quality. The rise of obesity in western countries is mainly because people are stupid and have no impulse control. If the situation were reversed and healthy food was cheap and fast food junk was expensive, we'd still have an obesity problem, maybe just to a slightly lesser degree.

She’s spending every dollar she earns, because that’s what stupid poor people do when they earn some money. Read about lottery winners who destroyed their fortunes by spending everything on garbage.

Raw vegetables need more energy for digestion than chocolate. Some foods, like lean, high-protein meat, can use up 15 to 30 percent’s worth of their caloric content on digestion. Fats and simple sugars are readily digested, thus require far less energy. It’s technically better to eat 1,200 kcal of steamed chicken breasts and broccoli than 1,200 kcal of candy.

On average, digestion accounts for about 10% of your daily calorie consumption, but this is true only for people who eat a relatively varied diet. People who eat a lot of fat and sugar burn less calories. Those who are on a low-carb, low-fat, high-protein diet burn far more.

True, but if the body has to go through gluconeogenesis for energy it ends up being more taxing on the liver. If someone were to have an existing condition and need to take it easy on their liver, it wouldn't be the best path to go down, and it is not be sustainable for people if they don't love to eat those proteins above all else.

20-30 grand on eating out alone, but they spend like 200-400 at Walmart a day.. Don’t forget you must include Becky because she is unemployed. A ball park estimate, over the course of a year, they must be spending $50-80,000 on junk, and food.
If something were to happen medically than it would be dramatic.
Food alone at 30K is about what a lower middle class to middle class family makes in a year. 80K especially in Kentucky is incredibly well off.

Our gorl is an elite *sigh*

Rice is a staple of billions of poor people around the world and they aren't fat. I think it comes down to being stupid and gluttonous.

In the 90's Brazil was able, for a short time, to stabilize their economy. In a short period of time the rate of obesity in poor children went through the roof, because for the first time their families had enough money to buy food stuff they couldn't afford before - like cookies and fast food crap.

And now, in Venezuela, obesity rates are near 0, and people en masse are all coming to a dangerously low bmi. Even a surgeon has trouble affording food. On the upside, she never has an issue with an overweight patient anymore, so there is that.

So as soon as Big Als cash crop (gullible feeders) runs dry, she will lose weight.

When she said 200 a day I don't think she specified at Target/Wal-Mart etc. I think that's her general spending including eating out. But then she has a splurge like a 400 at Target.

Still a ridic amount of money, spending $6000 a month on her level/quality of life.

Última edición:
To put it another way, this girl eats more fast food in a day than people who work at fast food restaurants and get free food there may eat in a week.

I like how Amber spends hundreds of dollars on Tooord haulz for herself, for clothing she cannot fit into (she's too big for their largest size - she has sized out of muumuus) but Becky's sartorial options consist of men's clothing in the $10 bin at Wommart.
