It's really good. I don't think it's A+ but as far as prestige TV goes the Apple money isn't being wasted. I'm always worried with these things that they don't really have a big plan figured out ie. they're JJ Abrams-ing it, so I hope they've got it planned and/or this is just a single season.
To be fair I was almost down a fifth when I wrote this, but yeah it’s just really fucking good and you bring good points about the future. I’d be fine if it was wrapped in a single season. Or two at most.

Dunno if its been brought up before, but given the OG movie's popularity on this thread I feel it worth mentioning that there is an "Official" Event Horizon prequel comic which I inadvertently became aware of while looking up some vaguely esoteric demon who was in a horror movie I recently watched

Turns out the REAL bad guy behind the events of the movie was.....drumroll please.......a big scary red demon nigga

I am in absolute awe of the originality and subtlety on display here.

Oh Ive read it and it gets even better.

Heaven exists too and the lesbians that are killed go there at the end.

Lowres - "You can tell a 19 year old directed this."

Speaking of Lowres, has anyone watched Mass State Lottery? Is it any good? I'm bummed I missed his showing in my town.

What's male horror? Being labeled a pedo or rapist falsely? The Hunt with Mads Mikkelsen did that but it wasn't horror. Maybe "my wife is missing?" Or "I'm actually the one who killed my family?"

The original Speak No Evil. Utterly failing to protect your family because you're such a fucking cuck you ignore massive red flags to avoid being rude. It was a truly horrifying movie from a male perspective.

The Babadook too. Just utter garbage.

Oh God, The Babadook. You immediately realize that "oh this is an allegory for trauma" and then are bashed over the head with it for another hour and a half. Every similar to how you realize Mother! Is about Mother Earth and you spend the rest of the movie rolling your eyes at how heavy handed it is with its message.

The Backrooms sequel is going to be intense.

Out of curiosity, I watched Hellraiser (2022). Felt more like dark fantasy genre than horror. Contrived plot, at times good visuals and interesting direction. Left me thinking if female Pinhead's impact had been better had they picked an actress like Sylvia Hoeks. I think she was menacing in Blade Runner 2049.

I liked Hellraiser 2022 a lot, although like the discussion a few pages back in the thread I'm also a sucker for anything Hellraiser-flavoured including the direct to video stuff. 2022 is lowkey one of the better horror films of the past decade.

The two key points that could have ruined it in the Current Year (female protag; troon) were both done well. The protagonist was allowed to be an awful person, and the troon was allowed to look like they do outside of the costume: an unsettling ghoul. Decent visuals, okay story that had to be pretty routine to establish it to a new audience. It could've gone in a lot of interesting directions if it got a sequel.

What did you find contrived about it? I've only seen the original and the 2022 reboot, but the reboot had a much more coherent plot than the first film. I especially liked how the main girl used the puzzle box against the cenobites by pricking him, the cenobites are not immune to their own rules.

Wait it was a tranny?! Ok, guess he does pass well for an eldritch abomination. Personally I didn't even notice the deep voice considering the character, and figured the face structure came from set prosthetics. I wish there was a browser extension that blinked a big TRANNY text whenever I'm reading a wiki article or something similar that is trying to downplay the fact.

Real tawk, never watched any earlier movies of the IP. The original Pinhead was an iconic character though. I liked the plot element you pointed out, I think it shows the cenobites as fanatics who are equally apathetic towards their own suffering as they are to that of others.

So, I've just finished watching scary movie 6.

I think the plot would have been way better if it had an actual story and more tighter writing. It was way too random and incoherent. 1-3 had stories that worked in favor of delivering comedy while giving some sense of cohesion and conflict. This didn't. An ideal plot would have been: legacy sequel + scream ripoff + obsession. That would have worked way better for the finale where the old cast kills off the younger actors.

Didn't like how goofy was reset. Him being more serious would have worked better. But the wayan brothers are obsessed with being so le random to differente themselves from others that it works against them.

I appreciate the cameo from the fat black guy though. Shame we couldn't get one last paradox for the franchise.

If you're a fan of the old movies (1-4), go check it out. Otherwise don't see it. 1 still has the best ending of all of them.

I don't even think 5 was referenced lol.

Rating for the farms: 3/10

Tyler Mane, known for his role as Michael Myers in Rob Zombie's Halloween movies along with appearing in The Devil's Rejects and Victor Crowley, announced he has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

I’m so fucking confused. Why did people say that Hokum wasn’t really horror and just a guy trying to get out of a building? that’s literally not what the movie is about. It wasn’t the greatest, but I would have watched it earlier if I didn’t get the impression it was a bait and switch

Because people are retarded. If anything a huge portion of the movie is him trying to get into the building lmao.

I get a lot of This Energy from this movie:
“Erm we are like so edgy and like offensive!”

Oh boy here we go...:stress:

My nigga, what were you expecting?! :lossmanjack:

1-3 had stories
Barely.

But the wayan brothers are obsessed with being so le random to differente themselves from others that it works against them.
Nigga, you are aware you're talking about a movie with a SIX in the title, right? Not 1-3. Mother fucking SIX. When you make it to SIX of anything, you get carte blanche to do whatever the flying fuck you want in a movie. And if you don't like it, the warning was right there in the title. No refunds. Get fucked. That's on you.

I liked Scary Movie 6. It had a wonderful moral message of FUCK THESE KIDS. Gen Z sucks lmao.

It was 20 years after 4 (25 actually after their last movie) and had the wayans brother come in to take back their franchise after it was taken from them (which they bitched about endlessly in interviews). At the very least they could have made it as good as 2 or 3. Sorry you like to eat shit.

I neither expected it to be as good as 2/3 nor cared whether it would be. Why?

Because I saw Scary Movie 4. My expectations couldn't be any fucking lower. I went in there expecting absolutely nothing but mindless garbage and drivel and something barely coherent. All it had to do to win me over was give me a few good jokes, which it did. If you paid expecting more, you're a literal retard. :story:

It has a fucking six in the title....SIX.

Sorry you like to eat shit.
I knew what I was paying for lmao. NO REFUNDS. FUCK THESE KIDS!

Edit: You know you're only proving the movie and the Wayans right. These movies are slop and they were always slop and if you're too autistic to just turn off your brain and enjoy slop, you're just proving that these movies aren't for you. As a result...Fuck these kids! (I've gotten a lot of mileage out of that)
