Not sure if I should necro this or not but the pilot for the homestuck animated series came out.

It is honestly pretty good they so far have managed to introduce the human characters without making it insufferable.

If this exists elsewhere well I tried the search first.

If this thread is going to be ignored as the other one is treated as the general, then the weaker one should be permanently locked and the last post just be a link to the real general. The weak should be purged so the strongest can thrive.

Nigger this thread was dead for years and the reason the other one was active was because of the weird behind the scenes BS, it's not a "general". This was a joke thread made TEN YEARS AGO that was part of a running funny of "who here likes [popular media with infamously schizo fanbase]?" and not much else to the OP. someone necroed it to make a joke about null being "a homie" and then someone else linked the pilot for the vivziepop thing and now you're pulling whatever this reddit shit is of framing it like a super serious redundancy to have a thread where people were talking about the thing itself and another thread made a little bit later about the creators sthrowing a shitfit on social media.

I will once again state that These are no the same type of thread. Cut this "tha weak should be purged" BS lmao shits gay

Look I enjoyed the original comic/flash animation when it came out. Are you really asking someone who enjoyed homestuck if they have shit taste or not?

As for the new animation I think they did a decent job and am cautiously optimistic for the show.

I enjoyed homestuck when it was coming out and I did not like the pilot. I liked the animation quality but it did too many vivziepop and current year-isms in writing like making rose groan at all of johns stuff when in the original comic they were constantly kinda bouncing off each other at the start in a jokey way like actual friends would.

That and the cardinal sin of dave not sounding like a texan wigger and lacking his laid back attitude to the point it becomes jarringly quirk chungus in a way that he never fucking acted. Which is incredibly weird mind you because one of his big things early in the comic is him and his bro having a bunch of goofy and stupid inside jokes that only they find funny but they're extremely laid back about presenting them to add to the humor of it all. I mean SURE that got messed with by act 6 acting like that earlier stuff never happened and bro was bad man scary abuser but they never erased the first 5 acts where that earlier subtle goofball dudebro stuff happened.

If you can't even be bothered to reflect the characters' personalities in text into animation, then it's a shitty adaptation.

I accept it won't be the same as the source material. I don't really think you could translate homestuck into a animated medium. Looking back on it I see your point though the characters feel at least to me correct... But for the post scratch acts. I think blitzing through the first act is the correct way to go about it but will have to see. I'm hopeful but have to see how they handle the rest. It is a pilot.. I admit to also wanting to see a good chunk of the prescratch condensed.
