My hottake, likely an unpopular opinion, but one I hold to. NFL Football would not be nearly as popular as it is if not for Fantasy Football and Gambling. Once the NFL started to cater to those crowds, their popularity exploded.

I watched it happen thru the 90s. it was a very popular sport to begin with, but once they introduced those 2 elements (helped along via satellite TV and their NFL packages) The NFL became an all encompassing juggernaut here in the US.

American football is a rather expensive sport to play when compared to soccer. It requires special gear (pads, helmets, jerseys,), a ball with laces (for throwing), and some sort of medical infrastructure to deal with the inevitable injuries.

Soccer can be played by barefoot pygmies using a ball made out of sticks held together with elephant dung.

This is why it's so popular as a kids sport in the US. Even retarded kids can play AYSO soccer.

I used to hate watching it but I'll admit the lack of commercials during a soccer match and the constant action is a fresh change from American football where you're just non-stop bombarded with play stoppage and commercials. If they ever get rid of the gay flopping it will be awesome.

You said that it's easy to play, which may be true, but on a professional level it requires a good amount of skill. Can you overcome a pro football team, if you had a hundred tries? Then maybe you lack something they don't (to a degree), which is measured by skill & technique.

Not sure what your point is other than to shit on it with no argument.
