I bet this show is just re-using scripts from that canned HBO show that never made it out of pre-production that was about giving black people half of the united states and then somehow they make Wakanda and drive all the whites into poverty.

I mean shit doesn't mesh together and actions are inconsistent. It's like they bolted Watchmen memberberries onto something else.

The whole time I kept wondering who the show is supposed to be for. Comic fans won't like how the politics of the graphic novel was swung to one side. People who haven't read the graphic novel won't understand a fucking thing. Fans of the movie will feel alienated because it follows the graphic novel and not the movie.

I've had people in my life try to sell me on it (:_(

Thats because its for a group that pretends to read shit but doesnt and had a smug superiority in their own views. AKA redditors and blue check marks.

I remember reading peoples comments saying "well the first episode/trailer makes this look like obnoxious libshit. But trust me its going to subvert those views" then 3 months later those same commenters were saying "yass queen! Only CHUDs and white people would hate this"

Unfortunately thanks to most of the mainstream internet going full spoony with the banhammer the last couple years. It looks like most of the internet loves that piece of shit

Honestly with how shitty Alan Moore is. Its a good thing he preemptively said he didnt like it and wont watch it. Because it aligns perfectly with his shitty views.

Let's not forget to mention that its reception was pretty meh from people until Dr. Manhattan showed up.

It reminds me of people who disliked Man of Steel but then shat their pants over the first look at Batman V Superman trailer that came in 2014 because of Armoured Suit Batman.

I think it was more cause it was pretty much the fight right out of Dark Knight Returns, right down to some of the shots.

Yep, and that movie also borrows heavily from two very outdated pieces of source material, something it and Watchmen share in common

You're very outdated.
A reference to a point in history doesn't make something outdated, you goddamn village idiot.
I never said a reference did. My point is about how the comic's depiction of a cold war panic hasn't aged well when the actual cold war ended without any uniting tragedy, and moreso, 9/11 happened years later and it didn't make the US any friendlier with their supposed allies. (the latter point is the biggest reason the movie's ending doesn't make any fucking sense lol)

God damn, I'll pay for both of yours' reading lessons.

Was 9/11 committed by fucking aliens from god knows where? No? Then STFU. Your example is terrible because 9/11 happened because of Islamic fundamentalism -a problem STEEPED in religion and politics- that may or may not have a real solution.

It's not the same fucking thing you village idiot. Now go give out revenge ratings and sulk in a corner.

Another thing that hack that wrote The Leftovers should have us see is at least one person with PTSD because of it. That was the whole reason for the psychic ability in the first place give everyone such mental scarring that it becomes a legitimate problem for the countries causing them to have even bigger reason to unite against this epidemic. Also a bit sad how Lindeloff never advanced space travel either considering the alien squid foe was supposed to be from way far out in space.

Huh, basicly a holocaust.

What, it didn't age well because it ended differently? That's kinda the point of fiction.

I think it aged fine. It's not like you can compare the threat of alien invasion with the threat of inside jobs/islamic terrorists depending on how you view 9/11.

I have a question; is there anyone that really liked who wokes the wokesmen? Are you hatewatching it? Just curious. What part makes it good/bad to you?

There actually is an eerie similarity between 9/11 and the squid incident, the whole idea of mass death in New York City.

But you have to keep the squid in context of the Cold War, basically the idea was to give the US and Soviet Union an outside enemy, literally not from Earth, to focus on instead of each other, so it still makes sense.

But of course it's already implied in the story that it's not guaranteed it will work in the long run, which is why Ozy asks Manhattan if he did the right thing and Manhattan responds "nothing ever ends"

@Lemmingwise had the right take. Its more of a holocaust esque 9/11 attack. 9/11 didnt have that much of an impact years afterward because of the war and people already not trusting bush and all the bullshit that happened afterward. Plus barely anyone died and lots of the ones that did were like janitors or firemen or shit like that.

In the squid attack, at minimum a few million die plus it would kill off at maximum 25% of the jewish population and a shitload of celebrities.

Like think about how boomers instantly become slaves to whoever says they need to do X to prevent another holocaust.

Its been 80 years and people still cant forget. And that wasn't millions dead in one day in the biggest city in the world. And it cant be tied to someone the CIA trained and who was targeting americans for over a decade.
