The entire media class is filled with bootlickers and they do nothing but search for nitpicky shit like this to make themselves feel better for liking the slop

I've always been a little reserved when it came to religion and superstitions - interested, though skeptical. However, Alan Moore and his warlock curses seem to be undeniable at this point and I'm having a serious crisis. Really though, I thought the show was pretty shit. I had been willing to give it a chance and the benefit of the doubt when things played into IdPol and felt like race-bait, but the ending was extremely anti-climatic and the product as a whole really disrespects Watchmen the graphic novel as source material. Adrian Veidt felt extremely out of character, going from a concerned and almost fatherly figure to an old dude passing gas in a mock court between the rampant murder of his slaves. The Hooded Justice retcon was pretty weak and, if I remember right, the writers passed off Hooded Justice's fascist sympathies as a ploy to appear "more white". That's a pretty weird fucking thing to say but, alright.

Episode five was the best if only because Looking Glass ended up being the most interesting character and it was really cool getting to see the attack on NY from a survivor's perspective. I liked the world building in that episode a lot. The show would have been more interesting with Laurie and Looking Glass as the main characters. Drop the racism angle and just have a bunch of Rorschach-pilled /pol/ users, have the media label them as radical conspiracy theorists, and focus instead on the growing presence of the government in the private lives of individuals and the distribution of misinformation. That's topical and more relevant to the world than shit that happened almost one hundred years ago, right?

Do the good guys. :^)
Those are the good guys. But make Laurie a true Fedposter and make Looking Glass a boomer that discovers the truth, and that /pol/ is always right.
Saying that, I think Adrian and Looking Glass meeting was a wasted opportunity. There was a good chance to give LG a chance to vent all his emotions and frustrations at Veidt who pretty much ruined his life with false flag antics.

Fuck I am not looking forward to season 2.
There's a Season 2? What the fuck, this was fucking garbage except for Jeremy Irons, the lady playing middle aged Silk Spectre and the cop they force to join the Nu KKK. I'm sure whoever wrote this has a fetish for black men, the blue black man dong gave it away (and a fetish for black people feet too after the last scene). The only good part was the gook getting her shit literally smashed in.

Also, re: Snyder Watchmen, and how it holds up compared to HBO Watchmen. I kinda have a love and hate relationship with Snyder Watchmen.

I actually disagree with the whole notion that actionizing the violence misses the point of the graphic novel- in fact, if anything it only doubles down on the satirical aspect of the story, especially with the ridiculous slow-mo and badass music. You have these mentally unstable sociopaths and their fight scenes are presented as badassery. Now, think about why the main character's name is Rorschach. It's a jab at the whole superhero worship thing, because people read Superhero comics projecting their ideas of a perfect hero onto them, and in a way that's more or less what a rorschach test is. The same idea applies to these action scenes to me. It seems to me as if Snyder did this to double down on Moore's point about how heroes are sociopaths in fancy suits. In this case, they're sociopaths who can do BADASS ACTION SCENES!!!. It's kinda brilliant, really.

Unfortunately though he fucked all that up by robbing the story of its most crucial aspect: an outside context problem. That's why replacing the squid with... uh, Doctor Manhattan doesn't work at all.

That's more or less the same mistake HBO's Watchmen makes. There's no outside context problem to show humanity what they really should be scared of. It's bad enough that the show swings everything to one side, but the squid was meant to be more or less a boiling point of everybody's fears and anxieties. You can't just bring a squid into this climate and call it emblematic of systemic racism, so the show was pretty much fucked to begin with.

So, uh, black lady has Manhattan's powers now? And WE WUZ KANGZ Manhattan is dead? After turning black and somehow falling in love? What the absolute fuck is this shit?

Funny thing is that they keep insisting is "canon" only to make Dr Manhattan go to the DC Universe and trash the timeline only because DC needed someone to reset the lore again, the most funny part is him bodying everyone even the entire green lantern corps just because he can
