Jean Smart is playing Detective Laurie Blake in watchmen who is probably silk spectre ii using her father's last name 👀

This is just dumb. It seems like it's trying to play itself off as a sequel but do we really need a sequel to Watchmen? And I know they continued the story in the comics, but what's the point? The beauty of the ending was its ambiguity, and trying to show what happens next detracts from that.

Watching it, I get the feeling that this is something that I'd be more interested in seeing if it weren't connected to Watchmen.

I love everyone involved with this and have loved a lot of their past work.

That's why I'm so sad. These are people (writers and actors) with artistic integrity, so I assume this will be not be a horrifically bad show. But I just can't watch it. Watchmen shouldn't have a sequel.

I'm probably just disappointed that WB/DC have turned Watchmen into another property that can be exploited

Nothing is sacred. Absolutely nothing.

Yep, absolutely no shortage of talent here. And like the Darwyn Cooke illustrated spinoffs, there is a lot of striking imagery, but little reason for it to exist. I guess the best case scenario is if they pull off a Toy Story 4 of all things: despite an earlier perfect ending, they put out something of quality that doesn't need to be, but is still fun to watch.

I'm just happy Jean is getting work. Tbh the only place older women can find work is with Ryan Murphy so it's better she is working with Noah Hawley and Damon Lindeloff.

I saw Hooded Justice....or his descendant...??? We're not getting his fifty shades of rape shit with Cap Metropolis are we? Bc that was horrid.

The hooded justice bit was from an in universe ( ala Chernobyl ) show that depicts the heroes in their glory days .

Watching the trailer, it seems like a show that, if it was it's own original work, would be very intriguing, superheroes inspiring vigilantes to kill cops. However, making it associated with Watchmen just seems like a blatant cash grab that won't do the franchise justice (no pun intended) in terms of it's very unique themes.

BTW, I think Zach Snyder's film is the best superhero film ever made, far better than The Dark Knight, and I think that Watchmen (both comic and film) in general is probably, on a thematic level at least, the greatest and most relevant story of the contemporary era.

Minus the hallelujah scene

Still interested, will definitely watch it.

It's easy for me to treat it as just a "what if?" scenario, Alan Moore created an interesting world and it's ok to allow others to play in that sandbox, if it sucks it sucks but I'm not offended by the basic idea.

Yeah, I always thought the movie was really underrated.
