I read all his books in a huge binge back when dance just came out,
and he would get randomly horny and then write the most grotesques old-man fetish bullshit;
I don't consider him a good writer or good story teller just a fking horny old POS.

He's a creepy dude, and his story was only interesting because he would axe main characters.

I wouldn't say Martin is a bad writer, just a hack. He borrows from medieval europe so heavily that half the plots are already there for him and clearly has a thing about dudes because while everyone harps on about the female nudity / sex, he really gets into describing Tyrion and Twyin's junk at really weird times. He can write good characters, others are pantomine-bad because how else do you get a plot to move than someone acting utterly retarded because normal people in this situation wouldn't do this sort of thing. He peaked with his first book and clearly has written himself into a corner and he can't be fucked to finish it, probably hates it by now and the final two books will be a big fuck you and end with someone random on the throne to subvert our expectations.

Read Patrick Rothfuss he can actually write and protagonist--Kvothe goes hard as fuck (no homo).

Rothfuss can write because Kvothe is such a mary sue yet he makes you want to read two books of the wunderkind who can literally do anything

I'd recommend Steven Erikson, the Malazan books are what GoT wishes it could be with politics, betrayal and brutality as well as a deep as fuck lore. And he actually finished the series.
Bernard Cornwell's Excalibur trilogy is also some of the best historical fiction you'll read, again it blows GoT out of the water.

I feel sorry for Matt Smith going from one stinker to another, the sets look cheaper and the costumes look more like D&D outfits than historical fantasy, you know that they'll pause for long fucking moments when the iron throne appears and drink everytime there's a musical sting of the GoT tune on strings so they audience gets the unsubtle nod to the more popular show they're aping. It's taken a handful of the elements of the popular show and just rearranged the pieces on the board, hoping that people will come back for more of the same with even less of a good cast.

I hope this kills the trend of shitty historical fantasy adaptation, with Rings of Power probably going to be forgettable shit, companies will finally see the ship has sailed and move on to the next genre to squeeze pennies out of.

The change from using locations to closed sets made everything seem smaller, looking at Winterfell consisting of one dirty yard and dragonstone being one room. Probably cheaper sure but they looked fake as hell when you look back to Winterfell in season 1. Likewise the stupid fucking armor for the Lannisters going up a notch for the queensguard, the weird unsullied armor, flimsy steel plate being worn by a Lord apparently and Cersei's sith lord dress says a lot about the creative direction. Spectacle over substance, the rule of cool over what people would actually be wearing because it's just makebelieve right? Totally forgetting the historical part of historical fantasy.

Well it looks pretty but HotD certainly isn't subtle.
The exposition at the start is like "yo dog we be all misogynist and shit over here" and boy do they hammer that point a few more times in the first episode.

Then they really aren't subtle about setting up their bad guy.
I think they want to go with another Ramsay Bolton, but Ramsay being a crazy violent monster person didn't have the support of his fellow lords in the North, his position was only ensured because he had the backing of the Iron Throne. So I can't see how "Mr 2 Carts full of body parts" is suppose to get any support from any of the lords.
Well I guess this is just bad writing seeping in, since they want to build up the female lead but don't want to put in the effort and time to properly characterising her (and the actress is not that great) or flesh out the setting so they're just putting her opposite to an asshole so it gives off the impression she is the likeably one. First episode and all so maybe she'll grow a personality or something (they're probably just going to make her a lesbian).

Still decent enough episode, not as good as early Game of Thrones but not (yet) as bad as later Game of Thrones. I can imagine a lot of people will like it.

The real problem is that they seem to have made him a "soulful saint"-trope which is really weird given it's Westeros where everyone is either an asshole or a good guy waiting to be murdered by assholes. But I expect this will mean he is going to be a very one dimensional and boring character. So far he mostly just sits around silently staring into the middle distance as if he's thinking about something profound and when he talks he doesn't say much.

This is not just a prequel to Game of Thrones. It is also a retcon of certain aspects of Game of Thrones and ASOIAF. They are changing the Others / White Walkers storyline in this show heavily. To try to undo the horrendous writing that the Others received in Game of Thrones. And will likely receive in the ASOIAF novels unless GRRM is willing to considerably change his current trajectory. They altered a great deal of scenes in this show to accommodate some additions to the lore that are questionable at best and hilarious at worst.

They are also using references to the Others and White Walkers to possibly set them up to return in the sequel series to Game of Thrones. So expect a massive amount of shoehorned and absurd references to the Others and White Walkers. And some truly cringe inducing lore for the series that will no doubt be ridiculed by fantasy fans who dislike ASOIAF. Praised by the hardcore GRRM and ASOIAF fans. And incredulously received and misunderstood by casuals.

If this show is successful we will get a sequel where Jon Snow goes fully North into the Land of Always Winter and fights more White Walkers. Scripts of House of the Dragons season one are leaked online but HBO is vigorously going after anyone posting them. Freefolk on reddit is being heavily moderated and censored right now. That discussion group will likely be run by new people when the show premiers to stop them from trashing the show similar to how The Boys reddit was nearly destroyed by new mods.

Which ties into the theory floating around that Danny's older brother (the one who was John Snow's secret dad) kidnapped Lyanna and got her pregnant because of the prophecy after he discovered it after being lost for several generations of Targs and believing said baby (John) would defeat the walkers.

If that's the case this is still pointless because the White Walkers ended up being immune to dragon breath right?

The original plan for the Targ spin-off was an original story about the Doom of Valyria that amounted to "Valyria was caught in a civil war between the good guys who wanted to let immigrants into the country and the bad guys, who wanted to keep the immigrants out of the country. The bad guys won and God punished Valyria by destroying it for not taking in endless numbers of immigrants and the Targs, who were pro-immigrants, were rewarded via advance notice to relocate their shit to Westeros and conquest of the seven kingdoms". Complete with arc word phrase "What does it mean to be Valyrian?" to be quoted by the pro-immigrant good guy side to refute the anti-immigrant bad guy side whenever they complained about the illegals flooding into the country.

The pilot that was filmed was so bad that HBO pretty much buried it and fired the cast/crew and ordered a new pilot/series pitch be made. George RR Martin was made to become more hands on (and allegedly wrote the recent Fire and Blood spin-off book explicitly to serve as a series bible) as Martin vetoed doing a Robert's Rebellion spin-off or Dunk and Egg spin-off, due issues where he made it clear to HBO that the spin-off ideas he was more interested in working on were Targ related. And Dance of the Dragons being the most notable bit in Targ lore that he felt would make for a better spin-off.

White Walkers were a myth and fable and the Targs are arrogant fucks who didn't want to deal with the potential humiliation of having conquered a continent to stop a threat that took centuries to manifest. So only the King knew about the arctic zombie necromancers being real for logistics purpose (since as stated, they didn't have an exact time table for their return) and the Dance of the Dragon war will cause the information to be lost by the time GOT happens and you could handwave as well, the Night Watch falling into disrepair due to the King who knew their purpose was real, dying and his successors not knowing it and letting the Wall/Night's Watch turn into a penal colony for criminals and political enemies.
