I like the look of those armors. The one in the back with what looks to be some kind of ghillie suit or hood gives me faith that customization will be robust.

Just got my Xbox SeX and got Halo MCC on game pass ultimate. I used to love halo 3 back in the day and I managed to reach 50 skill in lone wolves, team slayer, and the MLG playlist. Fast forward to today having not played since and I fucking SUCK. Apologies to anyone who matches on my team. Other than that though, really fun game so far.

Considering they're giving an armor set to people who reached max rank in Halo 5, I really hope they do something similar for whoever gets all the achievements in the MCC. Hell, even doing all the LASOs, some sort of reward for people who busted their balls.

The armor they've shown so far looks really promising. The only question I have right now is how the player can earn the armor. Not to mention the individual "coatings" you need to get as well. I consider myself lucky because all I want is a blue/grey coloring, which looks like will happen.

Depending on what game you're playing, you're more or less likely to get stomped. 3/4/Reach can be less punishing, but CE/2 are almost exclusively played by people who've played for years.

Eva [C] and Scout is obvious, but what's the second from left? It looks like CQC with the CBRN.

I hope if they're fixing up Halo 2 they'll finally fix the NVIDIA classic graphics buds, like the missing plants and sun on Cairo Station.
It looked like Commando at first to me, but maybe it is CQC. Can't say for sure except that it doesn't look like a 4/5 eyesore, which is all that matters.

LASOs are the only thing I have left in the MCC to do, and I've kept putting them off until I found someone to co-op through them all. I know some parts are easier to do solo, but I'd rather not have to constantly save/quit every time I die in order to keep progressing, especially in Halo 2. Those load times are obnoxious, and when added up over assuredly hundreds of deaths, I'd spend more time in loading screens than actually playing the game.

I do hope there's some reward for MCC players though. The ship's sailed on my getting the SR152 reward from 5; I don't even have an Xbone and I'm pretty sure you couldn't even farm enough XP before Infinite's launch if you were starting fresh now, even playing 24/7. I hope they talk more about customization soon, especially how you can unlock them, like you said. Going back to the December Inside Infinite, they talked about offering Reach levels of armor permutations and going even further beyond, though they also mentioned there will be some monetization since the multiplayer is F2P. They did emphasize no lootboxes, so that's welcome to people who still have nightmares about 5's system. All we can do is wait for now.

Also yeah, CE/2 are great for getting your shit kicked in. BTB is a little more forgiving since you have more people around, but you frequently end up with total retards on your team as well. Either way, no shame in being rusty after a few years away.

Supposedly some more of Infinites OST leaked. Could just be some guy faking it but it sounds pretty good, really reminds me of something from Halo 3 or 2, if it is real I'm happy the composers finally learned that Halos soundtrack should not just be strings constantly.

Here's more, they all come from the Mega Contrux site, just play the vids to hear the music.

What the hell's that weapon the upper right Spartan is holding?

The glow at the end looks similar to the light rifle, but the body looks more like Covenant/Banished design.
It resembles the basic shape and silhouette of the Covenant Carbine with a Banished twist to it. Pretty cool looking, in my opinion.

I'm glad the superior Scout helmet is returning, it made more sense design-wise because of R/S being a joint project.

If I can groove to it, it's a good Halo song, so good on the composer.

Out of everything so far with Infinite the soundtrack is probably the thing I'm most happy with. I actually liked 4's soundtrack because it was totally unique and didn't even try to be like Marty's stuff at all, which I actually kind of respected. But 5's was just generic hollywood shit that sounded like it came straight from a marvel movie, and I barely even remember it. Infinite's actually sounds like it's trying to evoke Halo, even in the wholly original tracks. Obviously nothing's ever going to be as good as Marty's stuff but I feel like it's been pretty close.

4 had pretty nice songs, especially the ones playing during the final mission, but not having the Halo theme sucked.

Not sure why they haven't tried to approach Marty to make some music (especially after the way Bungie dumped his ass during Destiny's development), but Infinite seems to be invoking his style very well. Between that and the art style being closer to the Bungie games, it seems that 343 has learned not to make Halo "their own" too much (although I hope stuff like the Mantis, Railgun, and SAW stay, those were cool additions).

According to Marty it's because of some legal shit caused by MS still owning part of Bungie, Marty still having shares in Bungie and his lawsuit against them.

I don't necessarily begrudge 343 for wanting to leave their mark on the Halo series, or possibly to want to do a firm delineation between Bungie's older games and their newer ones. But they took it in such a radical new direction right off the bat that it was hard for fans not to be thrown for a loop. So many changes made to the visual style in just two years between Reach and 4's releases (or one if you include CE Anniversary's graphical changes), it was like you ended up in an entirely different series altogether. And to go from the somewhat grounded look of the Bungie games to practically anime style was jarring to say the least. Probably part of what turned me off from Halo shortly afterward.

It's a bummer that it took them this long to finally course correct and get back to a more traditional style, but better late than never, I guess. If they're serious about getting back to their roots, then maybe Infinite will prove to be part of a Halo renaissance, just in time for its 20th birthday. The MCC's PC release has done a lot to get people interested in the series again, as well as their continued support over the past couple years. I've been burned by 343 before, but they're slowly making me optimistic.

Speaking as someone that enjoyed 4 and thought 5 had good multiplayer, I think 343 should've taken more after The Coalition when they took over Gears of War. Making a "safe" sequel to show they they know how the series ticks, and following that up with a more "experimental" sequel to put their flair on the series (while not straying too far, having a sequel like Banjo-Kazooie Nuts & Bolts would be jarring).

Regardless of how Infinite turns out (having Staten return and praise the campaign gives me hope), seeing 343 listen to fan feedback and bringing the series closer to its roots is a good step in the right direction. I wish more developers were willing to do the same without bitching at their fans.

Regarding Infinite, there's been a few rumors I've been seeing from insiders over the last month or so about how it's shaping up and what's gonna be shown at E3. Might as well just post it all here. The gist of it is that it's going to be better, but not mindblowing or anything. It's just going to be "more Halo". It'll probably please Halo fans but for normies, it may be disappointing - the year delay may have fucked with expectations. It's not like they made a whole new game in that time, it's the same thing as before, just polished up more. Campaign and some multiplayer will be shown, probably not much of Forge or anything else.

About the actual gameplay, it definitely sounds like the closest thing to “pure” Halo since the Bungie days. Sprint and slide are nerfed, jumps are higher, and all the gimmicks are being relegated to pickups rather than shit you can spawn with. BR fires slower too. Overall it sounds like it's been slowed way down from the sweatfest that was H5 (thank god). The rumored roided up BTB mode may have spawnable AI, but this was pretty vague.

Also, apparently some people have secretly been playing the multiplayer beta for a little while now. It’s just that they’re locked down under such hardcore NDAs that MS would completely fuck them if they blabbed. I have no idea if an actual public beta will be announced at E3 or not, but I certainly hope so.

Take all this with a grain of salt but none of it sounds too outlandish IMO.

Ok so Jeff Grubb (insider with a pretty good track record) talked about Infinite on one of his new podcasts. Here's what he said.

>Microsoft seems interested in catering to "Halo-ass Halo fans". He thinks non-fans will just see it as "more Halo" and thus he's worried the reception might be bad.
>He expects E3 to be multiplayer-focused.
>If they do new multiplayer modes like Battle Royal, that'll probably be down the road, this will probably be things Halo fans know and love like Capture the Flag at launch.
>Doesn't expect a huge, long deep dive into Halo at E3. They're busy finishing the game, not E3 assets, which take a lot of time away from development.

Kind of matches what I said above, but seems like they're gonna be focusing mostly on multiplayer rather than campaign. And it sounds like it's not gonna be a huge showing overall. Not sure how good of an idea that is. Another guy in the know thinks they'll just show a quick trailer for campaign, like the one they had last time.

It is interesting, though, that it seems like catering to Halo fans is apparently their priority this time.

That's not a bad thing. I'd rather have 343 make "just a Halo game" than try to follow the latest trend that they can't even deliver.

Hearing they won't have a very strong E3 showing this year is reminding me of the E3 presentation for Halo 2 way back when. I don't remember exactly, but I believe Bungie felt that spending the time and resources to produce a demo took time away from developing the actual game, but they had to do it anyways.

That said, I believe some form of showcase is needed to alleviate the worries of everyone who saw the Infinite campaign demo. I'm curious what sort of balance they will strike between "showing enough content to please the fans", and "spending as much time as possible being able to work on the game".
