  • It looked good

  • Good, but they need to iron out some issues

  • Majorly apprehensive

  • It sucked donkey dick

  • I need to see more

They really have to get rid of Bonnie Ross.
I kinda hate to say it as I don't really have any beef with her, but I agree.

She hasn't poisoned the well with political nonsense like Kathleen Kennedy, but the series has seen too many gaffes both minor (the current controversy) and major (TMCC's first year) ever since she took charge. It hasn't gotten as screwed up as Star Wars or Star Trek in terms of brand damage, but I'd be lying if I said Halo's been a smooth ride this decade.

I think 343's an alright developer for the most part, but they can stand to have better management.

The ride never ends.

Unyshek, who I used to follow on another forum before he worked for 343i had the gall to say the company hadn't been "turtling".

Not saying anything of value after the delay sans microtransactions (which nobody cares and everybody hates) and having various sponsors show more about the actual game assets without useful morsels of gameplay or even footage of multiplayer maps seems like a whole lot of turtling to me.

This reminds me when Bonnie Ross and Kiki Wolfkill wanted to "crack down" on Halo 4 sexism by issuing lifetime bans on Xbox Live for said chat.

Did it work? Well, when I played Halo 4, player count was low compared to Halo 3 and Reach and lobbies were quieter. Don't know.

Compared to this:

Linking this for the millionth time because it's just fantastic and from a time when people could still make fun of things like that.

That was back then when people still gave a shit about this hobby of ours. Now it's all microtransactions, as if they want to turn console and computer gaming into 30 different shades of mobile gaming.

Really, charging for armor colors. 343 Industries has fallen so low. They had such promise after Halo 4. After that, one disappointment after another.

Oh no not death threats! Whatever will the poor 343 developers do? It's so fucking transparent, and I'm not surprised reddit fell for it. 343 has had going on a decade to get their shit fixed and they continue to make poor decisions. Microsoft may have forced them to adopt microtransactions and even armor coatings for Infinite but they didn't make them fuck up MCC's release or make them be absolutely terrible at communicating what the fuck is going on with Infinite development wise.

At this point, I'd say the 343 cycle consists of

  • Fuck up every possible aspect of a new game on release
  • Take for fucking ever to start addressing the problems
  • Take even longer to start solving the problems
  • Put the game in a somewhat respectable and far more playable state long, LONG after the initial backlash has occurred and most people have denounced the game
  • Start making another game and repeat this process all over again

And they never seem to learn from the process.

It wouldn't be 2020 without the usual baggage from years before taunting us again, even if it doesn't come as a surprise.

How fucking incompetent do you have to be to lose 3 directors in 2 years? It's a shame it's Chris Lee because he seemed to actually have a vision. Should have been that uberjew Bonnie Ross and Retardera poster Frank O'connor. If they don't hit it out of the park 343 is gonna get the axe, calling it now.

Apparently Chris Lee got sidelined after the gameplay reveal faceplanted and the subsequent delay, so he seems to have been the sacrificial lamb.

The only ray of hope I have left is Joe Staten's involvement, but quite frankly I'm not even sure Jesus himself could fix the utterly fucked up state of this studio.

Isn't Halo 3 the only title in the main series to have a smooth, not rushed development?
ODST and Reach didn't have particularly lengthy dev times but there weren't any major snags either as far as I know.
As far as mainline games go I don't think 4 had any big fucks up in development.
I swear at this rate 343i era Halo will be used in business schools as an example of how not to manage a brand.
Fuckers are giving Disney Star Wars a run for their money.

Halo 1 was unfucked weeks before launch because Bungie was never sure what exactly they wanted it to be (which is understandable for a first game in a franchise), Halo 2 was never unfucked because it just straight up released unfinished due to Bungie's ambition colliding head on with the reality of game development, and then Halo 3, ODST and Reach had decent enough developments. All five games are pretty much legendary outside of some grumbling about 2's difficulty issues, 3's length, and Reach's gameplay choices.

Meanwhile, 343 hasn't remotely reached that pedigree. So when they've had three games to get their shit together after people have pointed out they have severe issues with art design, randomly regressing from established Bungie features, and having their games not have tons of fucking bugs, seeing those issues crop up in Infinite while the game is going through a reported development hell, with multiple leads leaving, does not inspire confidence.
