i thought it was a mistake when gta started focusing more on being a cinematic game instead of a fun game.
but shit, even that was leagues better than what it has become with gta online.
we've reached a point where the entire point of this fucking game is to...ugh..."flex".
why else would anyone buy this worthless piece of shit? other than to be like "hey, i own *everything" in gta online regardless of price, aesthetic or utility.
high def graphics were a fucking mistake. nobody can make a fun open world game to save their fucking life. pro tip dipshit developers, they were called "sandbox games" because when you're in a sandbox you find ways to have fun with the toys you have in it. you dont go into a fucking sandbox to watch a movie or buy shit you fucking retards.

knowing that chinks have studio leaded by former R* manager, I wouldn't be shocked if they want to take over Take-Two mainly to close Rockstar and absorb studios for their creation

All of this is true.. It's why I have a hard time telling other people that my favorite genre is the sandbox open world game, because they'll instantly think of games like Minecraft, Rust or ARK. Some of my favorite moments were in GTA IV online and just coming up with dumb games to play with the options we had. Grenade bowling was one of my favorites in which you threw hand-grenades with friendly fire off, so you'd have to kill people via the physics engine instead. Hell, even when GTA Online first game out, some of my favorite things to do were just to play the different game modes for fun. You knew you weren't going to make money, not at the shitty pay rate of 3k-5k on top run, so you just played to have fun.
GTA Online now? It's all about the hustle man, got get that bread so we can buy things to flex and show off. Having your own fun is against the GTA Online ToS now, they added it several years ago when they updated the word spaghetti that you just blindly click through. You're going to have Rockstar's patented formula for fun and you're going to like it. Be sure to link your Amazon account, so we can give you 25% off a feature that should be included when buy the overpriced bunker base flavor of the season. Don't forget the shark card, with 20% bonus cash, but only if you spend more then $20. We want some of that stimmy money too, boo.

GTA Online is basically a full time job if you want to experience all it offers. Or give your whole paycheck to T2 for some of the toys.
What CAN you do in GTA Online free roam? Cause havok? Have fun with the aimbot cops. And the griefers. Do missions? Hope you have good friends. And grind.
It's practically impossible to make your own fun in GTA Online.

I could give gta online some slack if they ever released that mission editor that has literally been in there but locked since the fucking PS3/360 versions. I have never understood why they never unlocked it. People say cause people would abuse it but like fuck you can't make a mission that would pay out enough to even matter at this point. Just make it so you can't get money from created contact missions or whatever if its that big a deal.

Yup, it looks like Rockstar is done and RDR2 was their swansong.
They had a good run, but it is a shame we couldn't have got one last good GTA.
It's weird how for as big a fucking deal as GTA once was we got a grand total of two main entries over the last 13 years.

Money sinks, just like nearly every single online DLC add-on introduced to the game. 27 different variations of the same supercar for $3,000,000. Ships, boats and hideouts that cost up to $8 mil. Special snowflake guns that aren't that much different from their regular counterparts for $200k. Freaking orbital cannons that cost half a mil a shot. You either have to grind for all that shit or pony up real life bux for those Shark Cards.
Interesting how prices for Shark Cards and the amount of in-game bux you get never changed. $8 mil in in-game currency still costs $100.
Or you pay $10 - $20 for a mod menu and shower yourself with illicit GTA gamer bux until the next "ban wave" hits. At this point, paying a mod menu maker feels more ethical than paying Rockstar for anything.

funny enough, the most bitching i ever heard about shark cards was when they were first introduced. Yet that was when they were the least offensive. IIRC, the 8 million shark card pretty much had you set up with the best shit where as now it basically covers one thing.

Go watch any GTA IV playthrough and remember Niko's voice.
This is his mocap and voice actor. He's a great actor; they sound like two different people.
I find it jarring that after a couple missions in Liberty City, he knows the city inside out. And speaks like an American (his use of the word ain't, American idioms). I heard his accent was often inaccurate for Serbian dialects.

Honestly, they got off lucky with the charity thing IMO. I'm sure Take Two could thoroughly assrape them beyond all recognition in court. I can't imagine what sort of damages Take Two could come up with considering how much GTA Online has made and how much they could accuse the mod menus from taking away from them.

The advent of console online multiplayer has been a disaster for the entire video game hobby.
I really wish they'd finally drop GTA Online and work on GTA VI.
Looks like GTA Online will do to Grand Theft Auto what WoW did to Warcraft.

Everything's so focused on multiplayer that it's killing single-player games and in the case of GTA, has killed the franchise by having everything focus entirely on GTA Online with no hope of GTA VI,
World of Warcraft is probably the earliest major example of an MMO killing a franchise. We'll never see a Warcraft IV and we'll probably never see a GTA VI.
Which sucks because RDR 2 gave me the impression they had a lot of good things planned for GTA VI.
IIRC, the first Red Dead Redemption was pitched as a way to test out new gameplay elements for GTA V. Rockstar and Take-Two's higher-ups thought RDR would flop since Westerns are a dead genre but the Housers were able to convince them to fund the project by also having it be a way to test features for GTA V.

I've been having a lot of fun again with GTA Online specifically because I used a mod menu to give myself millions of dollars from the casino just so I can fucking play the game properly. It's ridiculous.
Not even, Kiddeon's mod menu is free and lets you give yourself money like I mentioned. The chances of any individual person getting banned for using a mod menu is low unless you're being retarded about it.

What's your money limit?
I remember ending GTA Online on Level 50 with a couple hundred grand.
I had a high end apartment, a couple vehicles and mainly weapons. This was WAY before Gunrunning.
Heists helped me afford a high end apartment. Around the 360/PS3 era, that was the apex of making it in GTA Online. Finding cars and giving them to Simeon, grinding Rooftop Rumble, doing various game modes, even fooling around with your friends.
It was simple, but more than enough.
The businesses COULD and SHOULD work with GTA Online.
