No GTA online on launch sort of makes sense since they don't want to split the player base between Pablo on his PS4 and the people who can afford a modern console. It is funny how they circled back from no single player because of GTA online to being exclusively single player because of GTA online.
Those niggers rake in billions from GTA Online and still have the fucking audacity to demand 100$ for the full game. lol, lmao even.

Those $100 GTA6 rumors got proven right because of the "ultimate" edition, I have no doubt that they will single handedly be the ones who makes $80 the standard.
I still don't think the $80 standard will stick. I keep seeing people insist that inflation means games should be more like $120 or $200 but there was a tacit agreement that as the price of distributing games went down and the potential audience kept getting bigger that the price would stay constant. They tried it with Outer Wilds 2 and were forced to drop it from $80 shortly before release. They're not selling floppy disks to a peak audience of 20,000 magazine subscribers worldwide. They have access to virtually free worldwide distribution that's also nearly instant.
If companies aren't being retarded they price games at what they think will make them the most money. The reason you'd offer a lower price isn't to be nice, but so you could saturate more of the market. If AAA game companies think they're so huge they've completely saturated the market they will increase their games because they think they can't sell any more games and it will outweigh the loss of sales from the increased price. If 20% of people who would have bought it tell them to fuck off it'll be a net loss.
I don't think Rockstar is even that smart though and figure something like "We charged $60 for the last game and after 13 years of inflation that would have been $87, so really we're selling the game cheaper!". They forgot the implicit agreement that people would pay $60 for luxury goods. They'll even pay $60 if you take away the game manual, or even if you take away the disk and any accessories as long as it was just $60 regardless of inflation. Rockstar are assuming that everyone who wants their game will buy it at $60 and the losses at $80 will be negligible which is an insane risk.
After price increases the final nail in the coffin for me buying games was this "standard" "deluxe" "ultimate" shit that I can't stand. It's the first thing you see when you open a game and I just want to buy the game or not buy the game. I don't want to be thinking about getting nickeled and dimed or the exact value of digital assets being doled out per version when I could just not buy the game at all.
On the one hand, 80 bucks today is 50 bucks in 2008. On the other hand fuck video game publishers, tech shit is supposed to get cheaper over time.

Yes but Nintendo should not be considered in the same vain as a 3rd party publisher jacking up pricing. Publishers especially 3rd party do not compare themselves to Nintendo or chase how Nintendo operates because Nintendo can slap any of their IPs on any subpar title and still rake 10+ million sales. No other company operates like this or competes directly with Nintendo, a third party pulling this and being successful sets a whole other precedence. It's why you didn't see all the other publishers jump onto that pricing, but now that will change because T2.

You're right. The $100 pricetag is a steal and anyone who buys the $80 version should be executed on the spot because they're effectively robbing rockstar at that price point.

Not saying women are dumb at all, just they all need to reach consensus over everything so it goes to the lowest common denominator and nobody just goes in a certain creative and interesting direction with their story ideas.

RDR2 had a $100 ultimate edition too. It included an extra horse, unique clothes and a few side missions that didn't come with the base game. This isn't something new from rockstar. The no disc thing is though. and I hate it. Hopefully thats just a security thing to prevent the game leaking early and the post launch versions will come with an actual version of the game you're paying for.
Why does Rockstar insist on this move of making PC players wait for their release? That shit made some sense back in the 3D days when they were a lot smaller and with GTA IV you could at least excuse the new engine that they had to figure out how to port (and they failed miserably to do so to the point running that game was a meme similar to Crysis). With GTA V they at least had the excuse of the fact they were gonna re-release the game with HD models for the PS4 and XOne so might as well bundle the PC version with that new version.
But since then they keep doing it. Why? Have they figured out that their die hard drone always buy it twice and are they baiting them for it? Only explanation I can think of.
I mean I don't know why I care. I am not gonna buy it. Even if it had a PC version on launch I am not only on Linux (which I expect them to take issue with given Online) but also I serious fucking doubt that my 6yo GPU is gonna be able to handle their game. Their ports on PC are always shit.
