Can this game be the straw that breaks the gaming industry's back? I'd really hope so but people who play GTA have proven they will consume anything placed in front of them.
I feel like GTA VI is the end.

GTA VI is going to be huge. Even if it doesn't hit the initial 50 million sales in a day figures that Take Two wants, it's going to make it's money back through online.

But it's opening a door that I don't think people will be willing to go through for anything else. Elder Scrolls VI may have been possible if Starfield hadn't shit the bed.

But then again, maybe I'm just old and done with this gay ass hobby.

Details about the pre orders are live and rockstar and uh. What's this? locking [4] customization options behind the deluxe edition. Fucking lmao Rockstar's going to do everything to milk the cows aren't they?
Holy shit that is fucking egregious.

Also why the fuck are they dropping a pre-order website before even acknowledging any semblance of gameplay? Rockstar is asking people to drop 100 dollars for basic gameplay options before even showing them those systems. I think this GTA 6 is going to be wildly sanitized with Assassins Creed levels of “no allowed to fuck with the world” and Rockstar knows this. So they need to make the money now before people stop wanting to play “babies first carjacking” simulator. This is probably why PC isn’t getting made until at least a year after release; can’t let independent people have fun because they might try and remove gay assets or whatever.

$80-$100 for physical code in box, that is basically a digital rental, are they fucking retarded at Rockstar.
Imagine the people waiting outside for a digital code when they could just buy it digitally.

I thought I read that wrong. So, Rockstar is bringing back on-disc DLC except you don’t even get a damn disc with it. Even Ubisoft, as far as I know, did not gate single player customization behind a paywall. Hopefully player outcry would revert this decision.

That may be the most locked content I've ever seen in a regular edition game. A few hair styles or car colors I could maybe see, but multiple entire stores only available in the deluxe? Are we sure this is real? Also wtf does "donk" mean in this context?

edit: JK it's on the official website. Absolutely wild.

>Game is in dev hell for the better part of 13 years
>The $100 edition unlocks paywalls for features present since GTA:SA
>No physical copies are available for the game
>Show no gameplay since its announcement
>And of course, the PC release gets buttfucked despite being the biggest audience for the game

Please let this shit bomb harder than Cyberpunk at launch. The sooner T2 dies, the faster we'll get cool mods for older games.

“Donk” is a style of car where the wheels are massively bigger than the car body itself.

From the QA on the ps store. "gta 6 is a single player experience". now the cynic in me is saying that online will be its own standalone thing, or once it launches it'll be a paid "expansion"
Even Ubisoft, as far as I know, did not gate single player customization behind a paywall.
Ubisoft has those, and full cash shops for single player games, AC odessy was the first one I remember being full on live service style including xp boosters.

I’m thinking like locking all customization behind a paywall. Not just a few skins. I’m sure they have, or WILL attempt once GTA VI proves that it could be lucrative.

It doesn't make it much better, but my guess is that there will probably be like 3 or 4 different shops each for vehicle, hair, clothes, and tattoo customization. So only like 20-25% will be gated behind deluxe. Still though, that's a pretty big difference.
Also appears that it will have zero bearing on online, which will be a totally different thing like Cornlord said.

Grand Theft Auto VI should be the breaking point for gaming.

You say that, but it's going to be GOTY, every nigger, zoomer/younger, adult normie gaymer, streamer, etc (everyone but us cool guys) is going to get it for Christmas/pagan holiday that occurs around that time, and the benchmark is going to be set that this is the new standard for games.

Rockstar is the fucking MCU of video games. The mass collective of room temperature IQs eat that shit up and don't even complain anymore.

I expected this when I saw the first trailer with the donk car. GTA Online charges an arm and a leg for vehicle customization, among other things. Zelnick even said that they don’t give anything for free in “perpetuity.”

Why gate free roam customization in a single player experience behind a paywall? You’re paying more for less. This also means that GTA VI would be considered incomplete upon purchase since again, some content is inaccessible through an arbitrary paywall.

I was willing to overlook the likelihood that it would contain a bunch of currentyear ideological bullshit, I was willing to overlook that the game featured melanin masses and pride parades and all that shit, because those are all things that can be ignored by just playing the game differently.

I just flat out ain't buying this shit at $100 for a digital fucking code. Maybe, MAYBE I would have considered paying those fuckass prices if a disc was included. But charging more for base game than anything else available AND only selling a box with a code? Eat a dick, Cockstar.

We've come a long way from horse armour. I'm glad to see Rockstar testing the boundaries again. I reckon it'll sell extremely well though. It's GTA, it's the new shiny thing for people to consume.

It’s baffling that they aren’t making GTA online available day 1. They tried to slow roll RD online with RDR2 and it ended up flopping. I don’t think this will work as well as the think it will, especially if the single player game is a mixed bag for people like RDR2 ended up being.
