I think the orc quest from Gothic 2 shows a big difference between western RPGs and slavjank:
When trying to become an apprentice, one of the tradesmen asks you to bring him an orc weapon. He doesn't say how and where, you just are told to bring one. So you would think "What, he wants me to kill an orc? I can't even touch a wolf without dying, an orc will instantly destroy me". But then you hear that there's a wounded, lone orc in a nearby cave outside the city. And the guy asked for an orc
weapon, not orc's head. So you look for him and find his hiding spot. But then how are you going to get that weapon? And here's where you have multiple choices:
- come back later when you're stronger
- buy an expensive spell scroll
- ask someone for help
- lure the guy out of his cave to the town gate guards
Then you just turn in the dropped weapon. An interesting quest which doesn't treat you like an idiot. If that quest was made by western devs it would just be a map marker/circled zone with a single solution and a heavy handed approach. And don't get me started on Gothic 2's Monastery vs Skyrim's College of Winterhold.
People who get filtered by Gothic's gameplay design should stop playing Bethesda slop on repeat while watching tiktok on 2nd monitor. It's the same with people who live off doordash goyslop and have their body rewired to be disgusted by normal, healthy foods.
I had a long diatribe about Remake, which as a Pole I am more than qualify to publish, but it had too many words for English speaking audience. Long story short, it's a worthy remake. They didn't add woke shit, they remade Mine Colony so that it both feels INCREDIBLY familiar (I played it without ever looking at the map, all of those old synapses started firing off), and with added details and areas, some mobs' new models are an improvement (shadowbeast, biter) and some suck (minecrawler, zombie), music got only slightly remastered, new quests feel like cut content restored, and the map is TRULY open world and without loading screens (kind of like Risen 1).
If the same team with the same perspective is put in charge of remastering Gothic 2, I'm more than hopeful it will be perfect.
Dude... I will not say the Remake is bad but it's mediocre at best. I can ignore bugs and tech issues as those can be fixed, but not stuff like millenial writing, retcons, weird gameplay changes or insane requirements. It is not a worthy remake, but a cashgrab to bank on nostalgia since it's cheaper and easier than making new games. And they didn't add woke shit? They race swapped some characters, they removed erotic painting above Gomez (and censored the naked woman drawing), they also made purposefully ugly and covered up women. The painting and women were PARTIALLY reverted, after they saw how much people hated the censorship.
Also is this what you're ok with?

Or how about turning final boss fight into a joke by making you chase Mud, a comic relief character from Chapter 1?

Of course those are just the most blatant examples. The game would be FAR worse if players wouldn't have completely shat over the pre-release demos and the bullshit ideas Alkimia tried to get through. It took 7 years of development hell and multiple studios coming in to help to make this remake simply because the devs were so fucking retarded. And you want them to do another one while being certain it's going to be perfect? Have some standards dude, right now it just seems like you're just blinded through reliving your nostalgic memories.
It's all very similar to the Oblivion Remake situation and many of the critiques can be said about Gothic Remake, too:
