They remaked Gothic, because it's a cult classic in Germany, Poland, Russia and some other surrounding countries, but those are the big three. Gothic is so intertwined into cultures of said countries that to this day it's popular to quote it, make memes of it, to replay it and watch streams of it. The question is why did THQ Nordic form a SPANISH studio for the purpose of creating this remake?

That spanish studio was so clueless that their vision shown in the very first demo was so detached from the original and warped it was universally hated. Both by fans and the newcomers.
THIS was their vision, of an average modern AAA slop. But everyone kept telling them how trash it all was over and over. Then over the course of multiple demos in those 6 years of development hell they have gotten close enough for people to go "eh, it's not perfect but it's good enough". And now people are chimping out the moment you dare to criticize this mediocre product.

The gog version includes the original, which is at least a nice gesture, that ought to be a standard thing. I mean, don't buy it anyway, but still.

I am interested in what the reaction is going to be like from those three. I know I was disappointed from CZ gamers when KCD2 came out, they mostly ate that slop up out of some obligation to try and force that game to be their own Witcher 3 or something, only came out looking real suspect when the underage homo sex came about. Germans have no taste, but if "based" Poland and Russia eat this slopmake up, then it truly is over.

i tried to give this thing a chance but one week in and it just isnt fun- i guess im not a REAL GAMEEEEEEEEEEER but im not playing video games to get killed by a fucking bum, guard or fucking wolf every single time.

I've never played the original but from what I've been told this isn't a Skyrim Or Fallout New Vegas where you can just wander off into the wilderness after the intro cutscene and be fine for the most part.

You need to follow the MQ until you're given some decent weapons/armor in order to do shit.

Filtered by slavjank.

Not precisely. There are areas meant for higher levels, but Gothic 1 and 2 are games where both gear can make up for the lack of skill, and skill can make up for the lack of gear. Your character scales, the world doesn't, loot isn't random and you can plot a path to get strong equipment early.

Honestly Gothic is the best designed RPG and what RPGs should look like...

I had a long diatribe about Remake, which as a Pole I am more than qualify to publish, but it had too many words for English speaking audience. Long story short, it's a worthy remake. They didn't add woke shit, they remade Mine Colony so that it both feels INCREDIBLY familiar (I played it without ever looking at the map, all of those old synapses started firing off), and with added details and areas, some mobs' new models are an improvement (shadowbeast, biter) and some suck (minecrawler, zombie), music got only slightly remastered, new quests feel like cut content restored, and the map is TRULY open world and without loading screens (kind of like Risen 1).
If the same team with the same perspective is put in charge of remastering Gothic 2, I'm more than hopeful it will be perfect.

I think the orc quest from Gothic 2 shows a big difference between western RPGs and slavjank:

When trying to become an apprentice, one of the tradesmen asks you to bring him an orc weapon. He doesn't say how and where, you just are told to bring one. So you would think "What, he wants me to kill an orc? I can't even touch a wolf without dying, an orc will instantly destroy me". But then you hear that there's a wounded, lone orc in a nearby cave outside the city. And the guy asked for an orc weapon, not orc's head. So you look for him and find his hiding spot. But then how are you going to get that weapon? And here's where you have multiple choices:
- come back later when you're stronger
- buy an expensive spell scroll
- ask someone for help
- lure the guy out of his cave to the town gate guards
Then you just turn in the dropped weapon. An interesting quest which doesn't treat you like an idiot. If that quest was made by western devs it would just be a map marker/circled zone with a single solution and a heavy handed approach. And don't get me started on Gothic 2's Monastery vs Skyrim's College of Winterhold.

People who get filtered by Gothic's gameplay design should stop playing Bethesda slop on repeat while watching tiktok on 2nd monitor. It's the same with people who live off doordash goyslop and have their body rewired to be disgusted by normal, healthy foods.

Dude... I will not say the Remake is bad but it's mediocre at best. I can ignore bugs and tech issues as those can be fixed, but not stuff like millenial writing, retcons, weird gameplay changes or insane requirements. It is not a worthy remake, but a cashgrab to bank on nostalgia since it's cheaper and easier than making new games. And they didn't add woke shit? They race swapped some characters, they removed erotic painting above Gomez (and censored the naked woman drawing), they also made purposefully ugly and covered up women. The painting and women were PARTIALLY reverted, after they saw how much people hated the censorship.

Also is this what you're ok with?
(timestamped at 13:25)
Or how about turning final boss fight into a joke by making you chase Mud, a comic relief character from Chapter 1?
(45:36-48:30)
Of course those are just the most blatant examples. The game would be FAR worse if players wouldn't have completely shat over the pre-release demos and the bullshit ideas Alkimia tried to get through. It took 7 years of development hell and multiple studios coming in to help to make this remake simply because the devs were so fucking retarded. And you want them to do another one while being certain it's going to be perfect? Have some standards dude, right now it just seems like you're just blinded through reliving your nostalgic memories.

It's all very similar to the Oblivion Remake situation and many of the critiques can be said about Gothic Remake, too:

I bet you like Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 as well. Poland should have taken those muslim rapefugees, you deserve it for your absolutely horrid taste in gaming.

Oh don't worry, if/when Gothic 2 gets demastered, this is 100% what's going to happen. Question is, how can you make Gothic 3 even worse when we get around to that one?

Watched a streamer play it. Skeletons under the ground, bosses taking either 1% or 50% dmg from the same hit. Clipping through walls and shit, but oh no. Because it's slavic and "janky", it's a-okay that people paid full price for this shit.
Based on what I've seen much like the Oblivion remake they deliberately didn't fix any of the glitches or broken shit because they think its "charming and retro" instead of annoying and gay.

But they did make the women ugly and made the game look absolutely soulless, because that's also "charming and retro". Anyone who pays for this is cattle.

Gothic Remake is nearly here arriving at 5th of June and it's a pretty polarizing release. On one side you have veteran players who want the best product possible and just point out red flags, but on other side you've got the modern audiences™ repeating copes like "... but the original has flaws, too!" or "if you don't like then don't play it!".

It is worth mentioning that it is being developed by a completely different studio who think they know better than the original developers. People probably remember the ugly women drama which happened a few months ago and apparently this has been since fixed, but it does show how out of touch those enlightened new developers are.

As of now some of the biggest complaints are (but not limited to):
- ridiculous requirements
- unfaithful redesigns of locations, the atmosphere and characters
- numerous glitches (such as broken AI)
All the complains are based on the recent gameplay previews TWO WEEKS before the release. But don't worry, a game developed for 7 years will fix all those huge issues within that short timeframe, the REAL gamers (who "don't hate games" unlike me) assured me of it.

Gameplay:
https://youtube.com/watch?v=SBMWO93L_iUBrought to you by Unreal Shite 5™.

The collector's edition (200$) is a complete joke that features: a generic notebook with barely visible logo, a wristband and a plastic mask to hang on a wall.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=wT70Y52UUGQJust look at how pitiful it all looks. Someone found the exact wristband without the logo on temu and it cost 5$ LOL. Why would anyone pay for this is beyond me. Only the mask is somewhat understandable as you won't really buy it anywhere else, but as for the rest they are just those cheap dropshipped products with a custom logo.
*complainTs”

>Gothic is buggy and sluggish and all the characters sound retarded even to a native German speaker

And they say remakes can never truly capture the original.
But is the dub on par with a gay porn?

Just play the original. I finished it some time ago for the first time and it holds up pretty well.

i tried to give this thing a chance but one week in and it just isnt fun- i guess im not a REAL GAMEEEEEEEEEEER but im not playing video games to get killed by a fucking bum, guard or fucking wolf every single time.
Yeah but the fun part is when you progress further you come back and get your revenge.
